A wild new Super Smash Bros Melee mod has completely transformed Nintendo’s iconic GameCube fighter into a fully 3D arena brawler, changing how the 25-year-old game is played. Super Smash Bros Melee has remained a fan favorite since its 2001 release, with a dedicated competitive community and modders constantly finding new ways to keep the game alive. Fans have even turned Smash Bros into a battle royale featuring 45 fighters and guns, but one programmer has now taken Melee itself in an entirely new direction. Created by developer Aidan Walz, Super Smash Bros Melee 3D removes the traditional side-scrolling limitations and allows characters to fight across stages in every direction, giving a new shine to those Fox-only Final Destination battles.
