Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games has pulled back the curtain on single-player spinoff Squadron 42 with a new cinematic trailer, the launch of Steam wishlists, and a full cast reveal. Squadron 42 is the story-driven off-shoot of space sim Star Citizen, which Cloud Imperium Games has worked on for the last 12 years. Indeed, Squadron 42 is a spiritual successor to Wing Commander, and like the Wing Commander games, Squadron 42 features a string of Hollywood stars, such as Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson, Ben Mendelsohn, and Henry Cavill. Star Citizen cast - Mark Hamill - Gary Oldman - Mark Strong - John Rhys-Davies - Henry Cavill - Ben Mendelsohn - Liam Cunningham - Andy Serkis - Jack Huston - Rhona Mitra - Eleanor Tomlinson - Sandi Roberts - Harry Treadaway - Danny Huston - Jonathan Bailey - Gillian Anderson - Ian Duncan - Alix Wilton Regan - Damson Idris - Jane Perry In August, CIG delayed Squadron 42 to Q2 2027, with Roberts insisting it wouldn’t get the attention it deserves if it came out at the end of 2026 because of November’s GTA 6.
