Ubisoft apologizes for forgetting to include the actual game in new Steam release

Ubisoft forgot to include the actual game in the Steam release of Heroes of Might and Magic 3, with players who bought it finding a tiny 23.49 KB file instead. During Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, Ubisoft announced the Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake, and to celebrate, they shadow-dropped the original 1999 turn-based strategy game on Steam for $10. Instead of the game itself, it was a 23.49 KB file that gave a “Dummy executable” error message when launched. “We appreciate the community’s patience and reports while we worked on a fix and apologise for any inconvenience caused.” Players reported that roughly 11 hours after the release, a 770MB update added the proper game files, and it’s all working as it should, with the Steam reviews now at “Mixed.” The Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake is set to arrive in 2027, so rest assured, if you want to go back and play the classic RTS game on Steam while you wait, you will definitely receive the game you’ve bought.
