A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms showrunner defends interrupting the Trial of the Seven with a lengthy flashback: "It's gonna displease some people"

Showrunner Ira Parker defended the use of a long flashback in episode 5 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, saying it adds to the story. The flashback covers Dunk's childhood in Flea Bottom and his meeting with Ser Arlan. The episode ends with Baelor Targaryen's fatal head wound. Peter Claffey denied a rumor that Henry Cavill will join the show.
