Liquid Swords, developer of open-city crime sim Samson, has gone bankrupt following staff claims that they haven't been paid in two months Liquid Swords, the developer behind Samson, has gone bankrupt just six months after its run-based open-city crime sim was released. As reported by Breakit (via Rock, Paper, Shotgun), a bankruptcy order was issued against the Swedish developer on October 12. According to Breakit, Liquid Swords' staff—around 30 employees—have gone unpaid for at least two months, and it was those employees who petitioned to have the company declared bankrupt. Liquid Swords was founded in 2020 by Christofer Sundberg, who previously co-founded Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios and co-directed that series' first game.
California has issued a warning of illegality to a robot fighting league after it staged a human-robot cage fight. Robot Entertainment Kombat is a robot fighting league, founded by VR entrepreneur Cix Liv. Based in San Francisco, the league stages live fights between humanoid robots. In September, the league hosted the “world’s first human-robot fight.” However, California state officials have called time on the fights, and have contacted the league to warn them against staging such events in future.
Capcom choosing the exact same subtitle for two separate expansions in two different games makes a lot of sense. Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is not only a thematically relevant title, but thanks to the first game's expansion of the same name, it also conveys to longtime fans what to expect: namely, a new gameplay cycle focused on reworked loot and plenty of dungeon crawling. The key difference this time around is that instead of heading into the labyrinthine depths of a cursed island, you've got an entirely new region to explore. As someone who loved Dragon's Dogma 2, I couldn't really ask for much more.
With GTA 6 just over a month away from launch, Rockstar has finally started teasing what we can expect from the best part of every Grand Theft Auto game: the radio stations. The studio has revealed a handful of genre-focused stations covering major artists from across the years, and on top of the proper GTA 6 soundtrack, we're also getting a series first in the form of in-game podcasts. There's Cocotea FM, focused on modern Latin music; Back Country Radio, which covers classic outlaw country; Afro Bank FM, offering a wide array of African music; The Chamber 106.6, blasting classic metal; Flash FM, which runs modern pop music; and Dirty South Classics, which will hit your old-school rap and hip-hop needs. Reacher star Alan Ritchson has been confirmed to play one of the titular Helldivers in the hit game’s film adaptation, which is now set to release in 2028. As told by Sony Pictures in a September 30 press release, Helldivers’ release date has been shifted from November 10, 2027 to June 9, 2028. Justin Lin, best known for helming several of the Fast & Furious movies, is still set to direct, with Hutch Parker, PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash, and Justin Lin’s Perfect Storm Entertainment producing the film. As described by Sony Pictures, Helldivers’ story centers on an “elite unit of soldiers — known as Helldivers — who must battle alien creatures threatening to destroy the fictional planet of Super Earth.” Ritchson will star as “one of the Helldivers,” though it remains to be seen if he is the movie’s main character or not.
Armed Fantasia— which was a spiritual successor to the popular JRPG series Wild Arms and not a first-person shooter starring Mickey Mouse—has been cancelled four years after its Kickstarter campaign raised almost $3 million. As reported by Rock Paper Shotgun, Armed Fantasia is one of several titles for which Digital Bros—the parent company of 505 Games—has decided to "discontinue development of" as revealed in its most recent financial statement. The project was headed by Akifumi Kaneko, who was the lead designer on the original Wild Arms and served in the same role through to Wild Arms 4. This double Kickstarter went on to raise ¥379,328,385, which converts to just shy of $3 million in 2022 money.

The retailer has signed one-year leases for locations across the country, bringing the Toys R Us brand back to more malls and shopping centers following its high-profile bankruptcy and closure of its US stores in 2017. Toy sales increased 17% during the first half of 2026, according to consumer research firm Circana, with trading cards and collectibles helping fuel the growth. WHP controls the Toys R Us global license, encompassing 1,680 stores across 37 countries and approximately $2 billion in annual sales.
