A new Minecraft add-on called AI Players can fill a single-player world with computer-controlled companions, creating the feeling of multiplayer without requiring friends or an internet connection. Minecraft is perfectly playable alone, but multiplayer typically requires other players to join through a server, Realm, local network, or online invitation. Mojang even introduced a Friends List and peer-to-peer multiplayer for Java Edition earlier in 2026.
