Battle Brothers is known as an unforgiving turn-based tactical strategy game, first released in 2017, with a console release in 2022. Our review from back then commented on how brutally difficult it is, but balanced with the rewarding experience that challenging games offer. So when I heard Nodice was making a tabletop version, I was intrigued. A cleaver, for example, has +1: Destroy 1 armor, which would remove 1 armor permanently from the target after the attack if you get a +1 modifier card.
