A Delaware inmate who sought more than $100,000 over allegedly inadequate medical care agreed to settle his case for an Xbox, two controllers, and a bottom bunk. Devin Coleman, who is serving 29 years, filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against officials and medical workers at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna, Delaware. According to Department of Corrections spokesman Jason Miller, “Incarcerated individuals in state prison facilities have the ability to purchase modified Xbox devices through commissary with their own funds for recreational purposes.” “Internet and Wi-Fi access is disabled on these modified devices and the devices come pre-loaded with games selected by the purchaser.” The story took another turn when the console was confiscated by prison officials after they found “suspicious content” on the device despite it not having an internet connection.
