'The most plausible source is an OEM or hardware partner that received final media early so they could ship PCs on launch day.'

Xbox could be planning another major shake-up of its Game Pass subscription service, this time removing key benefits the service is known for. That's according to a new leak from ResetEra user Slayven, who in 2025 revealed Microsoft's plans to raise Game Pass prices and change tier offerings, some of which turned out to be true .
Last month, System 3 Software released a trailer for James Pond Legacy, a four-game collection for Nintendo Switch 2. But the gameplay footage was largely overshadowed by accusations its developer used generative AI to create the game's promotional artwork and cover. System 3 followed this trailer up with a blog post asserting that generative AI was not used in the development process for James Pond Legacy, but some wires were evidently crossed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFggndxGZk0 If you go back and watch that trailer, it's not difficult to see why viewers pointed out the AI-like quality of the 3D characters adorning the game's box art and other promotional material.
Voicemod announced a new mobile device that expands the capabilities of the Voicemod Key dongle it launched in late 2024 as a way to bring the company’s real-time voice changing tech to consoles. While the older Voicemod Key only used a smartphone as an interface between the company’s mobile app and the Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch, the new Key Pocket can be used to change your voice or trigger sound effects while you’re playing games, making calls, or streaming on Apple or Android mobile devices. The Voicemod Key Pocket is now available as a standalone device for $99.90 or as part of a $129.90 bundle that includes the hardware and a Voicemod Pro license. The extra $30 fee gets you lifetime access to the hundreds of voices created by the company and the thousands made by the community, the ability to create your own custom voices, and cloud syncing across multiple platforms without a subscription.

In the past nine days, the in-game price of Robin Hood Hats has surged from 730,000 to about 1.1 million gold pieces (GP) in OSRS – not an all-time high, but a huge spike to the highest price seen in at least six months. However, the volume of hats traded went to the moon after this scheme broke: from an August peak of 1,158 in a day to a monstrous 5,744 in September, with multiple recent days tripling previous volumes.
"It's absolutely our goal to expand the market" - Valve's new Steam Frame VR headset has a nifty idea for broader appeal "For a long time, VR has turned itself into an accessory..." Valve has said its new Steam Frame VR headset, despite costing nearly £900 for a base model, is intended to "expand the market" of virtual reality headsets. That's both because it's lightweight and standalone, but also because it addresses a fundamental and long-running problem VR headsets have had. "For a long time, VR has turned itself into an accessory for your PC," Valve software engineer Jeremy Selan told Eurogamer in an interview ahead of Steam Frame's pricing announcement, "or in the case even of standalone, something that you have to decide to do first. Sony isn’t backing away from its decision to kill the video game disc in January 2028. But Sony isn’t shutting down production as quickly as we thought, either. Sony isn’t phasing out discs quite as quickly as we thought Sony’s last discmaking plant is reportedly decreasing production by 10 percent, not 90. Originally, it sounded like the division’s president said the Thalgau plant would produce 90 percent fewer discs in 2028 — but the reality is it will only produce 10 percent fewer discs in 2028, an unnamed Sony DADC spokesperson told Game journalist Brian Crecente.
If you ask any retro nerd enthusiast like me what's the best way to experience classic gaming consoles, they're always going to start yapping at you about CRTs. And for good reason: CRTs offer zero input latency, variable refresh rate, and the best picture quality for viewing classic games. Many games designed their art around the visual intricacies of these old tube TVs to create transparent effects or blend colors to create detail not present when viewed as sharp pixels. https://bsky.app/profile/crtpixels.bsky.social/post/3lqs3jwipo22w CRT Pixels makes excellent comparisons showing how pixel art is supposed to look when viewed on a CRT.

Pokemon Center cancelled thousands of 30th Celebration orders this week, and some of the shoppers who lost theirs never touched a bot. The set is the first Pokemon TCG expansion in the franchise’s 30-year history to launch worldwide on the same day, and it reprints certified chase cards like the original Base Set Charizard. That’s exactly the kind of nostalgia bait that draws scalper bots by the thousand, and this time Pokemon Center’s cleanup looked messier than usual. Pokemon Center’s bot crackdown is catching real fans too According to the Pokemon Alerts & News account on X, Pokemon Center cancelled a large volume of 30th Celebration orders this week, and while the goal appeared to be catching bots, the replies showed plenty of ordinary shoppers swept up as collateral damage too.
Not everybody bought into Vampire Survivors. The 2021 game popularized the idea of "bullet heaven," a reversal of elements normally seen in "bullet hell" games, and made such a huge impact on the industry that some call this subgenre "Survivors-likes." But while Vampire Survivors was a giant leap, it wasn't a wholly satisfying one for some. Blood Dungeon, a new "bullet hell" from Nidhogg and Wheel World developer Messhof, runs with some of the ideas that made Survivors a hit, fleshing them out and helping define the future of the genre Vampire Survivors sired. You see it in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, Brotato, and 20 Minutes Till Dawn, and there's even a Breakout-inspired brick-busting riff called Ball X Pit.
Patrice Désilets vows to make a sequel to Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey "And people can believe me." Patrice Désilets, the creator of the Assassin's Creed series and director of 1666: Amsterdam, has said he will make a sequel to open-world human evolution survival game Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. Désilets, talking to me at a recent 1666: Amsterdam event, said 2019's Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey was written as a "volume one". "Ancestors is ambitious and clunky and not much fun," wrote Donlan in his Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey Eurogamer review, "and it's often quietly thought-provoking too." But despite its clunkiness, Ancestors managed to find a sizeable audience, selling 2m copies as of April 2024. That's not the main plan; you'll have a 1.0 version." It's also worth noting that 1666: Amsterdam currently sits at a "mixed" reception on Steam with only 720 reviews, suggesting it hasn't found a large or very receptive audience yet.
Sony clarifies PlayStation disc production is dropping by 10 percent in 2028, not to 10 percent Spin doctors. Sony has pushed back on a wave of reports suggesting PlayStation disc manufacturing is about to be gutted by 90 percent after comments from a Sony DADC executive were allegedly misunderstood. According to Game, which went directly to Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation (DADC) for clarity, output is actually expected to dip by 10 percent in 2028, not to 10 percent. "To clarify and avoid any misleading information: in that statement Dietmar anticipated an overall product volume decline by 10 percent, not a decline down to 10 percent," a Sony DADC spokesperson told Game, referring to comments made by DADC chief Dietmar Tanzer to an Austrian broadcaster in July.
Former PlayStation boss Shawn Layden says a future without physical discs is "depressing but solvable." Soon after Sony's announcement that it would end physical disc production for PlayStation games, a report out of Austria was interpreted as Sony ending all but 10% of its production. However, speaking to Game, a Sony DADC spokesperson explains, "To clarify and avoid any misleading information: in that statement Dietmar anticipated an overall product volume decline by 10 percent, not a decline down to 10 percent." So while there's still a reduction, it's not as large as was reported. Game also spoke to former chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios, Shawn Layden, who led PlayStation for several years. Layden described a future without PlayStation discs as "depressing, but solvable," or at least "I think" Latest Videos FromGamesRadar+ At the moment, Sony owns the process for pressing PlayStation discs, meaning that once Sony stops manufacturing them, PlayStation discs will be discontinued.
