For proof just look at my Steam backlog, which is full of games I stupidly bought on the basis of their being cheap. Since Nintendo games keep their sticker price for years, this sale boasts discounts on years-old games like Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Mario Tennis Aces, both from 2018, for a lean $42. And in many cases these are the Switch 1 versions of games, meaning that if you want an optional Switch 2 upgrade, you have to make two purchases, and end up with less than a 30% discount as a result.
As promised, Nintendo has marked down a wide variety of Switch games and accessories at Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart, as well as its own digital storefront. Its “Customer Appreciation” sale is happening because of tariff-related refunds it received from the US government, and it ends on September 26th at 8:59 PM PT. However, one thing everyone is agreed on is that Metroid Ravenous looks absolutely sick. Metroid Dread revived the series back in 2021, and as it turned out, completely overshadowed Metroid Prime 4, which has pretty much come and gone despite how long we were all waiting on it. As spotted by GoNintendo, the hype for the next Metroid – alongside Nintendo's "we aren't giving you tariff refunds" sale – have caused Samus' latest 2D adventure to shoot straight to the top of the Nintendo eShop in the US ahead of the likes of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Super Mario Party Jamboree and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

If you enjoyed the performance mode featured in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond , we've got some good news about MercurySteam's upcoming release, Metroid Ravenous . According to the official eShop listing , the new Switch 2 game will support 120Hz output . We don't know if there'll be specific modes similar to Prime 4 just yet, but at this stage, Metroid fans can at least look forward to a silky-smooth gameplay experience in the new title.
