Battlefield 6 kicks off its first free trial post the Black Ops 7 launch to twist that knife Activision has done its own fair share of Battlefield 6 counterprogramming prior to that game's release, and EA is here to repay the favour with Black Ops 7. Even if you don’t care about the rivalries between the top multiplayer first-person shooters series, it’s hard to ignore how much EA wanted to stick it to Call of Duty this year with Battlefield 6. Both Battlefield 6, and Black Ops 7 have now launched, and though exact sales figures may never be detrmined (though EA did announce 7 million sold in the first week), it’s very clear at this point from every metric we can see that BF6 came out on top this year. Battlefield 6 has finally overhauled Challenges and Assignments so the majority of players can actually unlock those Class Training Paths and weapons Battlefield Studios recently promised to address some of Battlefield 6's most undoable Challenges and Assignments, and it has now delivered. Battlefield 6 has just received a server-side update that is bound to make the game’s entire player base happy, or at least those who had been waiting for it to arrive after the developer first discussed plans for it. The long-awaited overhaul of many of the game’s Challenges and Assignments is here, altering the requirements for most of them to be something that mere mortals are able to do. One of the loudest criticisms Battlefield 6 received at its launch had to do with its poor progression - we even called it out in our BF6 review.
Battlefield Studios on bringing squad play to the Battlefield 6 campaign, fulfilling class fantasies with missions, and whether we can expect a Warzone-like ongoing narrative Battlefield Studios set out to make a Battlefield 6 campaign that’s informed a lot more by the series’ own multiplayer than it is about other games’ campaigns. I have not played the entirety of the Battlefield 6 single-player campaign yet, but I played enough to have a solid guess as to what the high-level goals for it were. It’s also very easy to guess that some of the same people who get excited about playing the campaign mode in yearly Call of Duty releases likely won’t be moved by what Battlefield 6 is offering there, and perhaps that’s fine.
