Excellent apocalypse RPG World of Horror has just received a sizeable free update, As Below So Above, adding no less than two Old Godly invasions for you to identify and thwart. One of these additional cosmic disasters involves four cults summoning their fave abominations at the same time. I picture them forming a shaky barbershop quartet on the skyline, while stamping the streets to mush. Damn it, Ath-Yolazsth – you're leading again!

Backrooms director Kane Parsons has confirmed his meetings with Valve, but says that he has no plans to adapt any of their games if it can't be done well. When speaking on an October 28 episode of The Kyle Buchanan Show, Parsons wore a Valve hoodie, which prompted Buchanan to inquire about Parsons' recent trips to the developer's corporate offices. (Following the release of Backrooms, the director noted that he wanted to make a Portal movie and subsequently posted about trips to Valve on Instagram.) Naturally, Parsons didn't confirm or deny what exactly is going on between them, but confirmed that he has had conversations with the company — but he only wants to work with them if it's done right. "They work in experiments, and I like that, because that tends to be how I work," he said.
Backrooms director Kane Parsons is currently working on '3 dream projects' while wearing a Valve hoodie—suspicious I'm calling it now—Half-Life 3 will be a patchwork of YouTube shorts. Fans of horror or obscure liminal spaces have been eating exceptionally well this year, what with all the outstanding horror games and movies—one of which being Kane Parsons' silver screen debut, The Backrooms film. As a fan of Parsons' YouTube series I was pretty confident that this film would nail the Backrooms, and I was right. If last week's mysterious Mass Effect: Universe trailer leak wasn't painful enough for you in the wake of BioWare's sudden closure , we've gotten yet another taste of The Game That Could Have Been, this time courtesy of award-winning video game composer Austin Wintory. Known for his beautiful and haunting soundtracks for games like Flow, Journey, ABZÛ , Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Sword of The Sea , John Wick Hex, and Hades II , Wintory was also evidently working on the Mass Effect: Universe soundtrack. From the sounds of things, EA and the now-defunct BioWare were considering having Wintory produce the game's OST. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBO8s_McKjU "In 2007, when the credits rolled on my first playthrough of Mass Effect, I remember calling a friend and saying, 'I can't believe I already know this will be among my favorite all-time games.' Usually, it takes the passage of time before we can be so sure something truly belongs to the ages, but in this case, the confidence was instantaneous," Wintory wrote.
Control loreheads shouldn't put too much stock into what The Board says in Control Resonant - the devs say it's "basically gibberish" Trick or treatise? One of Control and Control Resonant's most memorable stylistic choices is how The Board - an alien entity whose true nature is a mystery, and whose morals and motivations are never made clear - communicates with the player. Clearly, developer Remedy knew exactly how The Board should sound coming out of your speakers. While there's no consensus, many have theories about what The Board is truly saying - and that's in part because of the way it sounds.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, and Star Wars: Galactic Racer all dropped within a month of each other; and I'm both happy and sad to announce it looks like another banger has dropped into the backlog. Phantom Blade Zero's Metacritic score has debuted at 88, which places it at 21 in the overall top games of 2026 list – although that top 20 is also filled with Switch 2 ports like Elden Ring, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and the Resident Evil Remake trilogy, as well as some DLC, so in reality it's closer to 13th.
S-Game, the Chinese studio behind Phantom Blade Zero, clearly understands the core tenets of character-action games. If your melee combat isn't tight, responsive, and oozing cool, then what's the point? Some games might have better combat, but few can match Phantom Blade Zero's style. Every moment feels like you're in the middle of a Chinese martial-arts movie, pulling off moves that shouldn't be feasible--moves that go against what we expect from third-person action games--yet are baked into the mechanics.
Control Resonant is delightfully weird: a sequel that isn't afraid to fly its freak flag as it pits you against all manner of supernatural phenomena wreaking havoc on Manhattan. But between bosses that resemble Francis Bacon-inspired nightmare fuel and other spooky occurrences, The Board is undoubtedly the scene-stealer of Control Resonant--and that's without you even seeing them! The Board is louder than ever as it accompanies Dylan Faden in Remedy's new game, seemingly trapped in the powerful shape-shifting artifact that he uses to smash his way through The Hiss and The Patterning. The Board is right here, and you get to experience the full council." A symbolic version of anger The Board was the first audio concept made for Control Resonant, with work on the entity dating back to September 2021, Pierrot said.
It's hard to be a fan of D&D and anime on the internet and not have heard about Obojima, a 5e Source Book taking inspiration from 90s aesthetics and classic anime like Studio Ghibli to create a world where you might be purchasing a new cassette tape when a spirit drives by to offer you a Taxi ride. Obojima: Tales From Yatamon delves deeper into the city of Yatamon, detailing city life, places of interest, and new player options for your next whimsical adventure. After building out the greater world of the Island of Obojima in the initial book's release in 2025, fans of the setting can now return. Of the Sub-Class options in Obojima, you can pick from: - Fighter - Neko Duelist - Rogue - Fortune - Warlock - Coven Patron The Neko Duelist is very Obojima-specific in their relation to the cats of the city of Yatamon.
Debra Wilson’s voice, one of the most recognizable in video games, carries a singular authority. It’s a sound that’s propped up special agents, presidents, military commanders, dragons, demons, and Jedi masters. But despite her incredible range--Wolfenstein cutscene director Tom Keegan calls her "his muse" because he loves to work with her so much--she’s also one of gaming's most recognizable faces. But he didn't speak English." Wilson as Doctor in Death Stranding 2 Death Stranding 2 is a game in which all the complicated lore is already established, but Wilson didn’t know her BBs from her chiralium.
Want to know why life in a world without time travel is such a bummer? No matter when you decide to take the plunge or how many other games you play, you can only ever experience Steins;Gate for the first time once. Even more than 15 years on from its debut, it is no exaggeration to call 5pb and Nitroplus’ quirky little character drama on the intricacies of time travel a touchstone of visual novels as a medium, and the bar by which many of its ilk continue to be measured. It is conceptually fascinating, hilarious, tragic, existentially horrifying, heartwarming, thrilling, and everything in between.
Behind his cheerful delivery and presentation, it turns out that Max Miller, known for turning historical recipes into entertaining yet educational YouTube lessons with his show Tasting History, is also quite serious about board games. Now, game designer Michael Shinall (Marvel Zombies, DCeased, and others) and publisher Salt Games are working with Max to bring him from his kitchen straight to your tabletop with a brand-new worker-placement game based on his popular series, which launched on Kickstarter this week. Recently, we had the chance to sit down with both Max and Michael to hear about how this new adaptation will play, a bit about how it all came to be, and why, whether you are coming at this as a fan of Tasting History or board games, there will be something on this plate you may like. Tasting History: The Board Game The game itself is split into five rounds, with 1-5 players taking turns placing their four chefs at the various spots on the era’s board, and is completed in only about 60-90 minutes.
Stupid Never Dies makes a strong, if extremely weird, first impression. Wrapping roguelite progression around the system of an action-RPG and setting that story in an inventive punk-inspired world of monsters is an inviting hook. Plus, it's hard not to feel some affection for the dimwitted hero and his undoubtedly creepy quest to revive the supposed love of his afterlife. But the inventive world and a few neat ideas can only carry this game so far, and I ultimately struggled to look past the repetitive and often imprecise combat.

Obviously, it's wish fulfillment having the likes of Final Fantasy 7's Cloud fighting alongside Final Fantasy 13's Lightning or Final Fantasy 14's Y'shtola, though they are more comparable to the skill-wielding summons from the likes of Persona 5 than true party members.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation's Hard Mode is available from the start this time, so you won't need to replay the mammoth RPG to get to the good stuff Cloud's the limit. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will let players access Hard Mode from the very beginning of the journey, unlike FF7 Remake and Rebirth, which made folks roll credits before unlocking the tougher difficulty option. The tidbit comes courtesy of director Naoki Hamaguchi, who told Hardcore Gamer that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation's Hard Mode "won't function in the exact same way" as it did previously. (Damn you, Moogles!) Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is coming to PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on 8th April, 2027.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines remaster or remake rumours begin to flow, reportedly in part thanks to a metal band from the original's score Genitorturers contributed a track to the original Rumours of Troika classic Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines potentially getting the remaster or remake treatment have surfaced. They've come from two places: one being the fairly standard source of poster on a game leak-obsessed section of Reddit, the other being rather more unorthodox. It's not often a metal band allegedly pause mid-concert to ask the crowd if they know an old game's getting a revamp. Yet, as spotted by Perfectly Crimson Gamer and Europeanvideogamer, that appears to be exactly what happened at a gig industrial metal band Genitorturers played in Brooklyn on October 15th.
