AI-powered game development is 'leading to an explosion of content,' Roblox says, as it brags about 70,000 games published on its platform in the last 5 months alone Two days after Steam admitted it has an AI slop problem, Roblox basically bragged about the same thing. Now we have Roblox, speaking from the other side of that coin in its Q3 2026 shareholder letter, in which it bragged that the July release of Build, its AI-powered "prompt-to-game creation tool," users have published more than 70,000 games. Since its alpha launch in New Zealand, Singapore, Serbia and Thailand, more than 500,000 users have used Build—and have published over 70,000 games." Take a moment to think about that: Build launched in July, five months ago, which means we're looking at a rough average of 14,000 games per month. To further capitalize on that, Roblox has kicked off two new initiatives: Roblox Everywhere, revealed in September as a way to make Roblox games playable outside of the Roblox platform, and the Universal Player, which is basically the reverse of that: "AI is used to seamlessly import any existing game into the Roblox cloud platform while transforming it to run multiplayer, on any device (at the upper edge of the device's performance capabilities), with instant join, instant UGC updates, local 3D, and access to Roblox services for discovery, safety, communication, and monetization." That's interesting: Details are scant but the idea seems to be to make Roblox a platform for all game developers, akin to Steam, GOG, or the PlayStation Store, with minimal fuss or muss: Just make your game, then zippity-pow it through the AI machine, and suddenly you've got a full-on Roblox game and access to a massive audience that previously would've been much more of a headache to reach.

After hearing the disappointing news that EA has shuttered BioWare , putting an end to two of my favorite RPG franchises— Mass Effect and Dragon Age —I have been, like so many other players, feeling pretty bummed out. But I consoled myself with the fact that, given the environment at BioWare in recent years, the now-canceled Mass Effect 5 probably wouldn't be that good anyway. Like many players, I enjoyed the Mass Effect trilogy, but felt that Mass Effect: Andromeda fell short. Similarly, BioWare's other recent titles— Anthem and Dragon Age: The Veilguard —struggled with messy development cycles marked by frequent changes in direction, mixed messages from higher-ups at EA, constant staff turnover, and other issues that ultimately led to an underwhelming gaming experience.

Originally slated for this year, At Fate's End has been delayed to 2027. And while I'm bummed that the next game from Spiritfarer studio Thunder Lotus is now months (maybe even a year) away, the new Steam demo that dropped alongside the delay announcement has been an excellent consolation prize. Having finished the one-hour slice of the upcoming action-adventure, I'm more convinced than ever that this game would have been a serious contender for everyone's Best Of lists this year had it managed to stick to its original release window. Like Spiritfarer, At Fate's End appears to combine an engrossing gameplay loop with an emotionally devastating story.
Why the publisher of Nintendo Life is launching a new PC gaming site Steam Hype is dedicated to "what's hot and what's next" on Valve's platform, with a focus on "human-led curation and recommendation" Games media publisher Hookshot has launched Steam Hype, a new PC-focused media outlet. It is the fifth site launched by Hookshot – in which GamesIndustry.biz parent IGN Entertainment holds a minority stake through its acquisition of Gamer Network – and completes the firm's platform lineup alongside Nintendo Life, Push Square, Pure Xbox, and retro brand Time Extension. The announcement comes three months after the debut of Respec, also launched by veteran UK operators, but amid a prolonged downturn in the media business in general and in games specifically, which only last month saw Paste Games shuttered and the Walmart-backed outlet Restart laying off its entire editorial team alongside a steady drumbeat of staff cuts at other outlets. "You might see a year's big releases in a single Nintendo Direct, but there are dozens of PC and indie-focused showcases happening every year, and they still only cover the top 5-10% of the iceberg on Steam alone.
For nearly three weeks, I’ve been testing the limits of Valve’s Steam Frame, the company’s new wearable PC. At $1,059 with 256GB of storage or $1,299 for 1TB, it costs two to three times as much as similar-looking headsets from Meta. Steam Frame The Good - Lightweight and comfortable to wear - Precise wands double as a full gamepad - Plays so many games so many ways - Included 6GHz dongle allows short-range PC streaming even if you have questionable Wi-Fi The Bad - Doesn’t feel like a finished product - Crashes, bugs, other assorted instability and inconsistencies - Not enough performance for many standalone games - Short battery life of one to two hours - Some audible fan noise The Steam Frame is primarily a gaming device. You can effortlessly add color passthrough to the Frame if you want, by the way — Arcturus, which helped build the Frame’s entire vision system, is now selling a perfect-fit 5K60 10-bit HDR stereo camera for $150.

US Senate launches investigation into Roblox: 'Children on your platform are hurting. It looks like another bad day for Roblox: The US Senate Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism has launched an investigation into child safety on the platform, saying the company "appears to prioritize revenue and engagement metrics over the safety and well-being of our children." A letter (via Kotaku) sent to Roblox CEO David Baszucki by subcommittee chairman Josh Hawley and ranking member Dick Durbin says that while Roblox has repeatedly claimed that it is a safe platform for children, "the public record raises serious questions about this promise." "Over the past decade, police have arrested numerous individuals for committing serious acts of violence and harm against children they met via Roblox, including grooming, sexual abuse, kidnapping, rape, and even murder," the letter reads. "Congress will not look the other way." Roblox insists that it too is not looking away: The company says the uptick in reports of suspected child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children cited in the latter—65,381 in 2025, more than double the number of 2024—simply reflects the company's ongoing effort to improve its systems and the safety of its users. We look forward to sharing the facts about how we work to protect children on the platform." The seemingly unstoppable force that is Roblox might not be so unstoppable after all. The company share price has dropped by 70% following the publication of its second-quarter earnings, which show a decline in players and lower-than-expected monetisation. In an earnings call (via Games Industry) Roblox CFO Naveen Chopra said the company attributed the shortfall to a dearth of "vintage viral games", with players shifting attention to "new and evergreen experiences with lower hourly monetisation".
