With a cracking new tactical feature and dedicated UI "strike team", Football Manager 27 is a huge step back towards FM's best form Arteta tête. Welcome back, Football Manager. Football Manager 27 is a big, much-appreciated step in the right direction. He put Bruno Fernandes back in the number 10 role, reverted to a familiar 4-2-3-1 formation, gave a relatively large amount of creative freedom to more creative players, and set them up in more of a fluid counterattacking mid-block as opposed to Amorim's structured, finely-tuned high press.

Our Verdict Modern Warfare 4 is the bar that this series should regularly aspire to, and a reminder that Call of Duty benefits when it actually tries to change. PC Gamer's got your back There is a new game titled "Call of Duty" every year, but it's not every year that Call of Duty is really back. These back-to-back games, shouldered by Treyarch, Sledgehammer, and Raven, had cracks and compromises that suggested the Call of Duty machine just can't keep up with both "good" and "fast" anymore.
AI fan wikis riddled with errors are muddying the waters of an already contested part of games culture "These tools have made it very easy for bad actors to crowd out good information..." Recently, I was writing a piece about Nighthawks and wanted to remind myself of some basic information about the companion characters. As I have a thousand times before, I put the question into Google and clicked the first result: the Nighthawks Wiki. Of course, wikis aren't necessarily reliable, especially fan-run projects that might not have enough engaged individuals to immediately spot and fix errors. Cyberpunk 2077 player recreates Kingsley's build from Edgerunners season 2 in-game, and it's so OP you can kill most enemies using nothing but your fists After years of waiting, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2 arrived last week, and it's every bit the bright, vivacious exploration of Night City I hoped it'd be. One of the more memorable characters is Weak Kingsley, a well-built mercenary, and after someone managed to replicate his stats in Cyberpunk 2077, it's clear he's just a tad overpowered. A former hotshot in the dystopian metropolis, Weak was eventually knocked off the food chain of violence and became a Solo who exists on the fringes. He previously served as Senior Anime Writer at Dexerto and News Editor at The Digital Fix, on top of providing work for Variety, IGN, Den of Geek, PC Gamer, and many more.

Electronic Arts is developing an American football experience unlike anything it's made before, the company said in a memo shared publicly after closing BioWare and laying off 400 people across the company . In trying to spin the news positively and toward the future, the memo's attributed writers, chief studios officer Cam Weber and chief operating officer David Tinson, spoke about several of the publishing giant's upcoming games, including something EA is calling Project Gridiron. The memo's exact phrasing calls it a "social-first open-world experience for our American Football team." In other words, EA is getting closer to something I've been writing about for years: Madden (and possibly College Football) heavily cribbing from NBA 2K's The City mode and giving football fans a virtual social space of their own. The company that gave us viral bad news like " Project $10 ," day-one DLC , and paid crafting materials in Dead Space 3 simply hasn't earned a tempered response from players, and so there won't be one.

Three years ago, the original Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun released, and since then, it's gone on to become a favorite for many boomer shooter fans, myself included. And now, having played the brand new sequel, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, it's easy for me to say it's surpassed its predecessor. Double the Trouble Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is a very simple at its core, and it doesn't hide this fact: Mowing through hundreds upon hundreds of enemies with a diverse arsenal of weapons is the name of the game. Bosses in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 feel more distinct from one another and go beyond just "point and shoot." There are also a number of mini-boss type enemies in between, so that's another lesson Auroch Digital learned from and improved upon.
Over the Hill's off-roading simulation winches you in with a more laid-back take than SnowRunner's, but it'll still bite careless drivers The RPS verdict Over the Hill, a rather chillaxed take on brutal Saber Interactive off-roading sims like SnowRunner, is the latest game from vibesy driving enthusiasts Funselektor. The folks behind the likes of Art of Rally and Absolute Drift have assembled untamed wildernesses in the cold Canadian hills and the boiling desert of Algeria, before handing myself and Julian the keys to some 4x4s. Mark: Right, I’m getting to the top of the snowy peak this time. My Unimog-shaped behemoth of an off-roader, imbued with the finest tech the Germans can devise for making short work of any terrain, is nearly fully upgraded.
Back in 2019, author Margaret Stohl was handed a manuscript written by Jason Jones, who’s best known as the co-creator of sci-fi gaming series Halo and Destiny. The two had worked together at Bungie, and Jones wanted Stohl’s opinion on a book he was writing about AI taking over the world. It was an oral history of the fictional events, with around 100 characters spread across 40 countries, all detailing the AI uprising from their own perspectives. Halo’s co-creator wrote a novel about AI taking over the world Read a chapter from Jason Jones’ An Oral History of Humanity’s Final Invention, one part of an ambitious multimedia plan.
Steam now has a maddening bouncing logo screensaver, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't perfectly hit the corners It sucks, get rid of it. The Steam client got a major new update today, with Big Picture Mode receiving the brunt of the attention. Most exciting, I guess, is that the previously beta-only screensaver feature for Big Picture Mode is now live for the general public. In its default mode the screensaver will display art from recently played games, as well as any recent screenshots you've taken.
Actor Ben Affleck has revealed his love for Valorant, although he admits he’s starting to struggle against younger players who have grown up with the shooter. Speaking on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Affleck opened up about many aspects of his career, from the disappointment of Justice League to stories from Good Will Hunting. But towards the end of the interview, attention turned to video games instead. He explained that early on in his career, he lost a lot of hours to the original StarCraft.
PvP pinball is such a good idea I can't believe I haven't played it before Bumper Bout has a demo on Steam right now. One of the great things about videogame conventions is there are always people up for playing a local multiplayer game, just waiting to be handed controls and thrown into a new experience. Which is how, at PAX Australia over the weekend, I found myself playing a game called Bumper Bout. Best laptop games: Low-spec life Best Steam Deck games: Handheld must-haves Best browser games: No install needed Best indie games: Independent excellence Best co-op games: Better together Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.
Both James and I dug anime-styled arcade racer Screamer when we gave a verdict on it earlier this year, but one aspect that raised both of our eyebrows was the game's unorthodox twin stick drift controls. Usually, steering and sliding in racing games are managed by the one singular controller stick, keeping things simple and intuitive, but Milestone opted to make you kick out the tail with a second stick instead. It feels fine once you get used to it, but is the kind of thing that could bounce folks off who're not down to rewrite years of muscle memory. The good news for such folks is that Screamer's latest patch adds in the option of single stick sliding in the hopes of making the adjustment a little easier.
GTA 6 officially releases next month, so we're taking a look at how the game's two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, have evolved since their 2023 reveal. If there's one thing Rockstar has consistently managed to achieve, it's that its finished games often look better than the reveal trailers. That isn't the case for many game studios. Watch Dogs, Cyberpunk 2077, and BioShock Infinite are all solid games, but they looked even better when they were initially revealed.
Anyone who spent their childhood waiting far too long for the bouncing DVD logo to hit the corner of the screen can now relive that experience as an actual game. Just A DVD Incremental is an upcoming indie from developer kealsoft-labs that takes the familiar screensaver and turns it into a game where watching the logo bounce around is the entire point. You don’t need to worry about it putting too much strain on your PC, either, as the minimum processor is simply listed as “Pretty Old,” while the graphics requirement is “Built in.” The recommended specs jump all the way to a Ryzen 7 7700X and AMD 7900 XTX, although the developer admits: “This is just the best spec I tested on. For another throwback, check out the 16-year-old browser game that earned 750,000 Steam wishlists, or the Smash Bros-style fighter with over 1,000 characters.
