Previously, Niantic brought Monster Hunter to mobile with Monster Hunter Now, but whereas that title was an AR game along similar lines to Niantic's Pokémon Go, TiMi's Monster Hunter Outlanders aims to distil the "full-fat" Monster Hunter experience onto a mobile device. (Interestingly, TiMi has competition from Capcom itself on this front, following the recent surprise announcement that the console game Monster Hunter Rise has now been brought to mobile via Netflix.) GamesIndustry.biz spoke with Bryan Li, the development director for Monster Hunter Outlanders, about the changes needed to make Capcom's game sing on mobile devices, as well as TiMi's working relationship with Capcom. What problems did you have trying to translate the game to mobile?
Timi Studio and The Pokemon Company announced they will end service for Pokemon Unite at 9am JST on March 23, 2027. This applies to both the Switch and mobile versions of the game. The game, it's claimed, was set in ancient China, went by the working title Assassin’s Creed Destiny, and was a separate project to Chinese-set mobile game Assassin’s Creed Jade. Instead, from the sounds of it Destiny would have been a game aimed at PC and consoles. MP1st claim to have unearthed this in-development look at AC ThatBungieShooter from developer portfolios and that the game was being headed by Tencent Games subsidiary TiMi Studio Group.

TiMi Studio Group, a Tencent subsidiary, has reportedly shut down its Montréal studio.
Tencent have reportedly shut down their TiMi Montreal studio, set up back in 2021 with the goal of creating multi-platform open world games. In those five years, the studio haven't shipped any games, but had brought on former Assassin’s Creed creative director Ashraf Ismail. Ismail was reportedly fired by Ubisoft following an investigation into misconduct, with the developer having been accused of taking advantage of his status to engage in extramarital relationships.
