CD Projekt is remastering its RPG masterpiece and rolling out a new expansion in 2027, and that means changes are coming.
Imagery of what could be the next Meta Quest device has been found, but it doesn't look like a gaming device to threaten the new Steam Frame.

"It's easy to look at industry metrics saying 100% of people start a game and only 25% finish, and decide not to invest heavily in the finale," says Ralph Fulton

Valve's long-awaited VR headset has finally arrived; here's its official price, reservation system, and user guide.
The Steam Frame launches during one of the slowest periods for VR on Steam, but Valve hopes to 'rekindle the excitement' for PCVR "We also want to grow a healthy ecosystem for both the gamers and the game developers." There was a time when VR was pretty much exclusive to the PC. I'm talking about when the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift were the pinnacle of technology, circa 2016. Nowadays, these three dominate the Steam Hardware Survey for August 2026, accounting for over 60% of headsets plugged into a PC by those surveyed. Few new arrivals in PCVR get anywhere close: the Bigscreen Beyond has just 1.25% of the share, which is less than the original Vive.
Valve opens waiting list for Steam Frame, starting at $1059 The 1TB headset retails for $1299 Valve has opened a waiting list for its new VR system, Steam Frame. There are two models available - the 256GB and a 1TB headset - both of which sport 4 nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 - ARM64, 16GB of RAM, and come with two controllers and Half-Life: Alyx included. The cheaper model will cost $1,059 (£889), while the 1TB model is on sale for $1,299 (£1089). Here's the full specs: 256GB Headset - 4 nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 - ARM64 - 16GB Unified LPDDR5X RAM - 256GB UFS storage, microSD card slot - Rechargeable 21.6 Wh Li-ion battery - 2160 x 2160 LCD (per eye) - 72-144Hz refresh rate (144Hz experimental) - Inside-out camera based tracking - Wi-Fi 7, 2x2 - wireless adapter included - Bluetooth 5.4 - Dual speaker drivers per ear, dual microphone array - SteamOS 3 - Steam Frame Controllers – full 6-DOF and gamepad controls - Half-Life: Alyx included - Note: Power Supply not included 1TB Headset - 4 nm Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 - ARM64 - 16GB Unified LPDDR5X RAM - 1TB UFS storage, microSD card slot - Rechargeable 21.6 Wh Li-ion battery - 2160 x 2160 LCD (per eye) - 72-144Hz refresh rate (144Hz experimental) - Inside-out camera based tracking - Wi-Fi 7, 2x2 - wireless adapter included - Bluetooth 5.4 - Dual speaker drivers per ear, dual microphone array - SteamOS 3 - Steam Frame Controllers – full 6-DOF and gamepad controls - Half-Life: Alyx included - Note: Power Supply not included Valve announced three new hardware products - the Steam Frame VR headset and controllers, a new Steam controller, and a next-gen Steam Machine - last year.
Valve had next-gen VR 'headsets ready three, four years ago and they were big, bulky devices' but went back to the drawing board after actually putting them on The versatile Steam Frame's focus is "on being lightweight and being comfortable". The Steam Frame is here and it's one of the best VR headsets I've ever had attached to my face, just don't ask me about the price. But when we spoke to two of the people at Valve who helped create the device—Joy Lyons and Jeremy Selan—they told me the company actually had its new VR headsets ready years ago, but they made the tough decision to pull the plug on those designs. And so, for me personally, that's when sort of a switch flipped in my head, and I was like, 'This is going to be a real thing'." Steam Frame: Valve's new wireless VR headset Steam Machine: Compact living room gaming box Steam Controller: A controller to replace your mouse Dave has been gaming since the days of Zaxxon and Lady Bug on the Colecovision, and code books for the Commodore Vic 20 (Death Race 2000!).
Those years of Valve’s benign neglect of VR make the imminent release of the $1,059 Steam Frame—which starts taking reservations today—more than a little surprising. The Frame even sports fancy extras like eye-tracking for effective foveated rendering in the center of your vision and an SD card slot for expanded storage (you can also splurge for a $1,299 Frame version that upgrades the internal storage from 256GB to 1TB). But the relatively weak Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor in the Frame means the games are limited to relatively undemanding 2D titles or older 3D titles (Portal 2, anyone?) Even a game like Returnal, which can hit a “Playable” 30 fps on the aging Steam Deck, managed a paltry 9 fps in benchmarks on the Frame at 720p “Low” graphics settings. Late to the party For most players, it’s hard to recommend the $1,049 Steam Frame over a $599 Meta Quest 3 (or even a $349 Quest 3S for the more budget-minded).
Today, Valve is launching its first headset since 2019 — the new Steam Frame — while dodging our questions about whether it’ll ever make another VR game to go with it. But buyers of the $1,059 gadget will get one flagship VR game anyhow, and it’s great. Valve has ported Half-Life: Alyx to ARM, and it’s free with Steam Frame One of the best PC VR games now runs natively on a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. Every Steam Frame comes with a copy of 2020’s Half-Life: Alyx, one of the best VR games yet made and a good game, period, and you won’t even need a desktop PC — because Valve has ported the entire game to ARM64 so it can run natively on the Frame’s Qualcomm Snapdragon Gen 3 chip.
For nearly three weeks, I’ve been testing the limits of Valve’s Steam Frame, the company’s new wearable PC. At $1,059 with 256GB of storage or $1,299 for 1TB, it costs two to three times as much as similar-looking headsets from Meta. Steam Frame The Good - Lightweight and comfortable to wear - Precise wands double as a full gamepad - Plays so many games so many ways - Included 6GHz dongle allows short-range PC streaming even if you have questionable Wi-Fi The Bad - Doesn’t feel like a finished product - Crashes, bugs, other assorted instability and inconsistencies - Not enough performance for many standalone games - Short battery life of one to two hours - Some audible fan noise The Steam Frame is primarily a gaming device. You can effortlessly add color passthrough to the Frame if you want, by the way — Arcturus, which helped build the Frame’s entire vision system, is now selling a perfect-fit 5K60 10-bit HDR stereo camera for $150.
"It's absolutely our goal to expand the market" - Valve's new Steam Frame VR headset has a nifty idea for broader appeal "For a long time, VR has turned itself into an accessory..." Valve has said its new Steam Frame VR headset, despite costing nearly £900 for a base model, is intended to "expand the market" of virtual reality headsets. That's both because it's lightweight and standalone, but also because it addresses a fundamental and long-running problem VR headsets have had. "For a long time, VR has turned itself into an accessory for your PC," Valve software engineer Jeremy Selan told Eurogamer in an interview ahead of Steam Frame's pricing announcement, "or in the case even of standalone, something that you have to decide to do first. Valve's long-awaited standalone VR headset Steam Frame starts at £889 and sign-ups open today - but you'll need to be quick Virtual actuality. And you'll be able to pick up a Frame with 256GB of storage for £889/€1,049/$1,059 USD (that's around £340 more than a 512GB Quest 3 for some vague comparison), while the 1TB model costs £1,089/€1,279/$1,299. A PSU from Valve costs £29/€39/$29, and there's an Ergonomic Accessories Kit that's an additional £59/€69/$59 and includes a headstrap, controller handstraps, handstrap battery doors, and an extended light blocker. As for Valve's official third-party partnerships, Zennioptical is offering snap-in prescription lenses for around $67.95 a pair, and, if you're not happy with Frame's default monochrome passthrough camera, Arcturus has created a "truly plug-and-play" full-colour camera upgrade for £129/€157/$149.

Roblox creators will soon be able to publish games on multiple platforms as standalone apps Roblox Everywhere initiative "will start with a select set of gaming developers and storefronts to test" Roblox will enable creators to publish their games on mobile, PC, and console through the Roblox Everywhere initiative. Announced at this year's Roblox Developers Conference, the company said creators will be able to make their games available as standalone apps on multiple platforms, with Roblox "powering the technology and services underneath." It's not yet confirmed if standalone apps will be available on third-party storefronts. A Roblox representative told PC Gamer that it "will start with a select set of gaming developers and storefronts to test, and will share more details soon." By the end of 2026, players will be able to join games directly in-browser from the Experience Details page, without needing an app or installation. Roblox will also produce a physical card in 2027 for creators "to spend their available balance directly, anywhere it's accepted." In its latest financial results, Roblox reported a 36% increase in revenue to $1.5 billion.
