The WoW 'Classic+' rumors were true: World of Warcraft: Forever promises to be another timeline's version of the MMO It's out soon, too, with a beta starting this week. The rumored game known to World of Warcraft fans as "Classic Plus" is real, and it has a proper name now—World of Warcraft: Forever is a new branch of the MMO that once again resets the clock to 2004, the year WoW first launched. Here are the biggest takeaways: - WoW: Forever will be set in the first year of WoW with a level cap of 60 "for the foreseeable future" - New stuff won't just be for max level players; it will span all levels - Three new zones - "Several" existing zones overhauled, "filling in the blank spaces of the vanilla map" - Nine new dungeons - Two new raids - New race: Skyborne Elves - New race/class combos: The trailer seems to show a Forsaken paladin, dwarf shaman, and orc mage It's a strategy reminiscent of Old School RuneScape, which treats the 2006 version of the MMO as a jumping-off point rather than a specimen to be preserved. World of Warcraft: Forever is covered by the pre-existing WoW subscription, but upgrade packs with features like the Skyborne race are available on Battle.net starting at $30.

Capcom expresses continued interest in 're-activating IPs' as the first new Onimusha game in 20 years surpasses 1 million sales on launch day Onimusha: Way of the Sword's launch day success has propelled the series to 10 million lifetime sales, says Capcom. Samurai adventure Onimusha: Way of the Sword notched over a million sales on its launch day, Capcom has announced. The success is deserved, per our reviewer Wes, who said that Way of the Sword "whips ass" in his 83/100 review. It's become a cliche to say that Capcom's on a bit of a run lately, but here's yet another mile marker in the developer's 2020s streak, which has included a pair of well-liked Resident Evil remakes, two new Resident Evil games, Monster Hunter Rise and Wilds, Pragmata, Street Fighter 6, and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, among other games.
Gen-AI controversy aside, Crazy Taxi: World Tour feels like classic arcade Sega - and it's an absolute blast Cabby fever. Crazy Taxi was not my favourite Dreamcast game (please don't ask me to choose between the triumphant rhythm triptych of Rez, Space Channel 5, and Samba de Amigo, however), but there's a specific bit of it that's forever seared into my brain: the giddy thrill of cresting over that one San-Francisco-inspired hill and barreling down toward the ocean, all while The Offspring's All I Want 'Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah'ed me into a state of gaming nirvana. As a moment, it's the kind of perfect melding of style and blissful arcade purity that seemed to define so much of Sega's Dreamcast-era output. And my recent half-hour hands-on with the upcoming Crazy Taxi: World Tour at Gamescom suggests the original's 90s skate-punk spirit and taut arcade thrills are - if perhaps not equal - alive and well in this, Sega's long-awaited revival.
5 top tips from World of Warcraft housing creators for making amazing masterworks Improve your housing game with advice from some of WoW's best home designers. World of Warcraft housing has become an amazing spectator sport, with dozens of streamers and creators entrancing players and viewers with their amazing works of art. With WoW's new patch 12.1 adding piles of new housing decor items, rooms, house exteriors, and tools to use them with, it felt like the perfect time to ask those artisans for a little help. (For suggestions from World of Warcraft's own lead design and principal artist in housing, Jay Huang, see this companion story.) 1.
14 years on, the creator of DayZ is still searching for a solution to survival gaming's biggest problem: 'I think I am going to die without having solved it' You might think making one of the most influential games of this century would be a source of unending happiness for its creator. But for Dean 'Rocket' Hall, founder of RocketWerkz, the relationship with his most famous creation isn't that simple. I'll be like 'Hey, a lot of our DLC, even on Icarus— which is really good—sometimes we'll only make $100,000 from it. It might have cost us $120,000 to make.
All the key details about 'anime GTA' game Ananta Does whatever a (legally distinct) Spider(-Man) can. Ananta remained a mystery for many years, but it's finally got a solid 2027 release date. Ananta release date and (lack of) betas Ananta release date After years of no-showing at big events, it finally turned up to Gamescom's 2026 Opening Night Live to announce that Ananta is releasing on January 15, 2027 for PC, PS5, and mobile. Ananta gameplay details Our Ananta preview PC Gamer's Wes Fenlon went hands on with Ananta at Tokyo Game Show last year, and he thought that although Ananta is borrowing—or brazenly copying—a lot, that it "might have some wild-ass ideas of its own, too." He found the influences of the Batman Arkham games, Sleeping Dogs, Uncharted, and Spider-Man pretty clear, but they all worked well enough.
Savage Planet series developer Raccoon Logic announced a new game at Gamescom today, and it's not what anyone would expect. Breakaway Hockey League is a new "high-skill" 4v4 ice hockey game with five-minute matches, ranked play, and what the studio called "larger-than-life spectacle." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIqv5Qg2Tmo&t=1s In development for PC, Breakaway Hockey League has players controlling just one member of the team, not the entire lineup like you might find in EA's NHL series. Raccoon Logic is promising things like realistic puck physics and "physical checking," along with other things you'd expect from a hockey game, including skill moves like dekes and picking your corners with precision shooting. Raccoon Logic is hoping Breakaway Hockey League will lead to "highlight-reel moments" with its more arcade-y setup, which in turn people may share online.
Humankind 2 trailer accused of being 'AI slop,' studio says nope: 'real actors, practical sets, and custom-made props' The uncanny trailer shows the perspective of infants through space and time. Humankind 2 was announced today at Gamescom's Opening Night Live showcase, and I have to admit that I was among those who raised an eyebrow at the announcement trailer and wondered: Is this AI generated? A number of commenters speculated that it was. "The Humankind 2 live-action announcement trailer was filmed at Nu Boyana Film Studios in Sofia using real actors, practical sets, and custom-made props created specifically for the production," developer Amplitude Studios told PC Gamer over email.

Unknown Duskbloods characters There are also a few characters that we've seen glimpses of in The Duskbloods reveal trailer, but they did not feature in the closed network test, so very little is known about them: Black leather guy: Clad in a black suit and wielding a katana, this certified edgelord may serve as The Duskblood's equivalent of the Executor from Elden Ring Nightreign, using a curved sword for parrying rather than blocking with a shield.

The $90 / £85 backpack was priced pretty similarly to other brand-new Loungeflys, so buying for myself felt like a no-brainer. Well, surprised in the context of Loungefly pricing, as their usual $80 / £80 MSRP has never sat well with me. I own a Loungefly Mini Backpack Bag Organizer Insert ($29.99 at Amazon) as it fits without issue in the main section of the bag.
Former Rockstar Games developer Obbe Vermeij has revealed that they had a planned feature for GTA 4 that ended up being “problematic” and needed to be cut. As we get closer and closer to the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, plenty of former GTA devs have started giving their insight on the current development phase, as well as revealing some secrets from years gone by. Obbe Vermeij, who worked on a number of Grand Theft Auto games at Rockstar, has been one of them. Elsewhere, former Rockstar developer Mike York said that GTA 6 will likely be 80-90% done at this point, and Rockstar won’t be adding anything “new” at this stage of the game.
