Deadlock’s new hero Solomon has a hidden detail that has chess fans impressed, with the pieces on his board rearranging into positions from famous games every time he reloads. Solomon is a floating chess grandmaster added in Deadlock’s City Never Sleeps update, one of six new heroes being released one at a time through player votes. The list spans more than 170 years of chess history, from the 1851 “Immortal Game” between Adolf Anderssen and Lionel Kieseritzky to Game 6 of Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand’s 2014 World Championship match. With 10 pieces, the board shows a 2024 game played by Levy Rozman, better known as GothamChess, while a full board of 32 shows the infamous double Bongcloud opening played by Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura in 2021.
