2K establishes AAA sports developer Small Axe Studios Aaron McHardy, who previously led EA Sports FIFA team for 15 years, serves as head of studio, vice president, and executive producer 2K has launched Small Axe Studios, an AAA development team based in Vancouver, Canada. Under Aaron McHardy's leadership, the studio is developing 2K's next sports franchise and recruiting for key positions. The leadership team includes Gary Paterson (head of design), Tom Pan (head of operations), Mike Thompson (head of engineering), Brent Breedveld (animation director), Karl Gryc (art director), John Cruz (technical art director), and Trisha MacWan (head of HR). "By leveraging our proven expertise with AAA franchises like NBA 2K, WWE 2K and PGA Tour 2K, Small Axe Studios has the ultimate foundation and long-term commitment to do just that."
