Nintendo shared a 23.0.0 firmware update for the Switch 2 that allows you to transfer your data to another Switch 2 system or generate a QR code for Miis you made on the console. This comes ahead of a The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary edition of the device launching in October 2026. The Mii feature arrives following the release of games like Tomodachi Life: Living the Dreamand the upcoming Nintendo Switch Sports Resort that let you import the avatars into the titles to use as characters. Previously, the Switch 2 system transfer option tended to only involve moving from an original system to the new one that launched in June 2025.
Both of Nintendo's Switch consoles have been cursed with deafening silence in their menus and eShops. But the latest version 23.0.0 update for the Switch 2 at least injects a little bit of personality and nostalgia into one of the platform's menus, bringing back music for the Mii Maker. When you create a Mii in the Switch 2's system settings, the familiar Mii Channel music from the Wii now plays in the background. I do not need another Switch 2. But I've wanted another Switch 2 ever since the back-to-back releases of Pokopia and Tomodachi Life, when my partner had confiscated the household console for two months straight. I think I've been holding out admirably up to this point, but the apparent leak of a 40th anniversary Legend of Zelda-themed Switch 2 is seriously testing my resolve. But here's something you should keep in mind if you, too, are eyeing a Switch 2 purchase in the near future: Nintendo's hiking the price by $50 at the start of September.

Nintendo has confirmed that Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has already sold over 8 million copies following its launch on 16th April 2026 . Now, in terms of a specific figure, 7.94 million units were sold during the first quarter of FY2027 – so that's April, May, and June of 2026.
