The WoW 'Classic+' rumors were true: World of Warcraft: Forever promises to be another timeline's version of the MMO It's out soon, too, with a beta starting this week. The rumored game known to World of Warcraft fans as "Classic Plus" is real, and it has a proper name now—World of Warcraft: Forever is a new branch of the MMO that once again resets the clock to 2004, the year WoW first launched. Here are the biggest takeaways: - WoW: Forever will be set in the first year of WoW with a level cap of 60 "for the foreseeable future" - New stuff won't just be for max level players; it will span all levels - Three new zones - "Several" existing zones overhauled, "filling in the blank spaces of the vanilla map" - Nine new dungeons - Two new raids - New race: Skyborne Elves - New race/class combos: The trailer seems to show a Forsaken paladin, dwarf shaman, and orc mage It's a strategy reminiscent of Old School RuneScape, which treats the 2006 version of the MMO as a jumping-off point rather than a specimen to be preserved. World of Warcraft: Forever is covered by the pre-existing WoW subscription, but upgrade packs with features like the Skyborne race are available on Battle.net starting at $30.
Star Wars Zero Company gets much-needed first patch so you won't miss shots with a 100% chance to hit any more It should be less prone to crashing too. The main thing preventing me from playing Star Wars Zero Company in its iron man "beskar" mode is cowardice, but the second thing preventing me from doing that has been the state of the game at launch. I've had it crash on me a few times, and the thought of my one and only run being lost because of a mid-save crash is enough to keep me playing with iron man off—even if Zero Company is much easier than XCOM and actually losing seems unlikely. Fortunately, a 1.1 patch is here, and the first patch note is "Fixed various crash issues." Following that, "Fixed an issue where Beskar saves were temporarily deleted" and "Fixed a crash issue for Beskar mode." There's also a fix for "an issue where shots can be missed, even when the chance to hit is 100%." I've been assuming that ZCOM was rounding up the numbers and actually I'd been missing 97% chance shots the several times I completely whiffed a point-blank sure thing in my playthrough, so it'll be nice to actually land those attacks instead.
Nintendo showed roughly 20 minutes of footage from the Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct this morning. Producer Eiji Aonuma said this project is largely a faithful remake of the N64 classic, reborn on Switch 2 with modern controls and a strong focus on detail. Here are 40 changes I saw when comparing Ocarina of Time on Switch 2 to the N64 version, from things as large as the art style all the way to small menu changes and UI differences. A Special Edition Console and Controller On October 29, one week before Ocarina of Time's launch on November 5, Nintendo is releasing the first special edition Switch 2 console themed around The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary.

Developer Cold Symmetry continues to tinker with Mortal Shell 2 , recently dropping a massive update that makes some substantial changes to its latest souls-like action-RPG. Alongside buffing certain weapons and fixing some glitches, the team has also addressed the game's greedy economy by making a few finite resources more plentiful around the world. Released on August 29, Mortal Shell 2's Week 1 Update makes some of the game's heaviest weapons stronger to compensate for their slowness. Rockstar confirms GTA 6 won't have microtransactions or generative AI at launch There are "no monetisations in this game". Rockstar has confirmed Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch without microtransactions or generative AI. The confirmation came during a group conversation with Kinda Funny Games ahead of the GTA 6: Extended Look, where Kinda Funny's Andy Cortez asked whether players would be able to spend real money on in-game purchases. Priced at £90 – £20 above the £70 standard edition – it bundles in exclusive cosmetics, vehicles, weapons and even a handful of shops and services unavailable to standard edition owners, including the Electric Fang tattoo parlour and Stock 305 clothing store.
Rockstar Games has said Grand Theft Auto 6 will have no microtransactions or generative AI when it launches in November. The studio behind GTA 6 confirmed this year's monumental open-world game will dodge two potentially controversial practices during a conversation with Kinda Funny Games earlier this week. Kinda Funny's Andy Cortez said he asked Rockstar if players will be able to use real-world money to purchase things in-game during a preview event that preceded the GTA 6: Extended Look. Priced at $99.99 – a $20 increase from the $79.99 standard edition – this version of the game grants access to a host of exclusive content, including cosmetic packs, cars, guns, and even some shops, such as the Electric Fang tattoo parlor and Stock 305 clothing store.
It's the most anticipated video game of the year, and possibly of all time. Netflix just aired a 27-minute extended trailer, and you've likely read multiple stories about it right here on this site since. Speaking on the Kinda Funny Gamecast, Kinda Funny's Andy Cortez and Greg Miller revealed that they asked Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson about the potential for microtransactions in GTA, as well as the use of generative AI in its development. "Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar said, has well over 600,000 animations, compared with 55,000 animations in Grand Theft Auto V and 300,000 animations in Red Dead Redemption 2," the article said, which also confirmed that Rockstar "emphasized the new game’s human-made craft." A Pokemon PC port known as Gen1Recomp has been going viral over the past few weeks, thanks largely to mods turning the original Game Boy RPG into a three-dimensional voxel world. The project launched with support for Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow, and beta support for Pokemon Gold has just been implemented. Developer BryanThaBoi has also thoroughly answered questions about the project's AI use – though those answers may not be what you're hoping to hear. Gen1Recomp functions similarly to other PC ports we've seen of classic games.

I love the Blue Reflection games. I adored how the original console titles handled the magical girl concept, depicted relationships between characters, and didn’t shy away from showing how individuals worked through difficult situations. I am so glad more people will get to experience the first game and Second Light sequel through the Blue Reflection Quartet collection. The problem is the portions focusing on the Blue Reflection: Ray anime adaptation and Blue Reflection: Sun mobile game don’t do the best job of telling those tales.
With the release date of Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave steadily drawing closer, Nintendo has started to reveal more details about the next chapter in its longrunning tactical-RPG series. Ever since Fire Emblem: Awakening successfully brought the series back from the brink of cancellation, the series has gone from strength to strength over the years, evolving its signature gameplay in well-received successor titles like Conquest, Revelations, and Three Houses. While 2023's Fire Emblem: Engage may not have reached those same heights, Fortune's Weave looks like it's aiming to return to the standard set by Three Houses with the return of Sothis, Crests, and other familiar gameplay mechanics. Today's Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Nintendo Direct had plenty of new details to reveal about the game, and in case you missed it, we've gathered them all up below to show you how the game is shaping up ahead of its September 17 launch for Switch 2.

Battlefield 6's next big update, 1.4.1.0, is launching on July 21, introducing Season 4 : Pacific Front and a naval warfare system. The update also brings back a feature that Battlefield hasn't had since 2005's Battlefield 2, and it looks like a Top Gun crossover is coming as well. No Battlefield game since Battlefield 2 has had those, according to Eurogamer , but they are finally coming back, or at least that's what fans are surmising based on the Season 4 announcement trailer. WEAPONS: M320A1 Level 2 Grenadier Trait Removed the bonus M320A1 HE ammunition previously granted immediately upon reaching Level 2.
Earlier this year, Infold invited me to attend Love and Deepspace's second anniversary event. At this point, I had been playing the game on and off for about a year. I was juggling questionable relationships with both Zayne, the main character's physician, and Sylus, the violent leader of a crime syndicate. According to Chinese critics, this could be perceived as a reference to Unit 731 , a unit of the Imperial Japanese Army that conducted biological and chemical warfare on Chinese civilians during World War II.

Though Beast of Reincarnation is all about "loneliness", Game Freak doesn't want it to be sad: enter "warmth", "reliability" and your dog pal Paws for thought. Game Freak may be best known as the developer behind many a Pokémon game, but that could soon be changing with its upcoming release, Beast of Reincarnation. Beast of Reincarnation places players in the shoes of Emma the Sealer, who will need to confront the source of the world's corruption to save humanity. It all takes place in a post-apocalyptic Japan, and comes complete with gritty combat, a melancholic score and some really rather stunning imagery.
Rogue Point aims to prove old school is the new cool with a back-to-basics shooter The developers behind Black Mesa return with a retro-flavoured co-op shooter that thumbs its nose at the bloated complexity of modern online games "We wanted something that you could pick up and play with friends," says Brad Sheremeta, marketing and community manager for Crowbar Collective, when describing the studio's new game, Rogue Point. Out in Early Access today, the co-operative PvE (player versus environment) shooter is a response to the overly complicated, time-sink nature of modern titles in the genre. "Right now, you're seeing a lot of these games that are 'sweaty games' that you have to grind at, especially first person shooters," says Sheremeta. And beyond that, the retro, no-frills nature of Rogue Point fits a gap in the market for titles that echo the simpler times of old – like the hugely successful Warhammer Space Marine 2, which won players over with its unashamedly Xbox 360-era gameplay.
