How to run an indie game studio: Part 5, Better meetings In the final part of his five-part guide to indie management, business coach Martijn van Zwieten explains how to host the perfect meeting If you've made it this far in the series, you now have the building blocks of a functioning studio operating system: a clear purpose, long and short-term goals, a system for catching and solving issues, and a quarterly rhythm that keeps your team focused and accountable. This week, we're looking at the glue that holds all of it together: your meetings. Most people groan whenever I mention meetings, and I fully understand why. On average, you want about 80% of last week's to-do's to be done to preserve momentum.
I've never felt worse for doing well in a videogame than in this intensely '90s citybuilder Sorry to everyone I evicted. Maybe take a drive to make yourselves feel better. I think it's obvious and uncontroversial to say that the automobile is a tool of capital to subjugate the worker, to atomise them in their locomoting coffins and alienate them from their fellow human beings. 2026 games: All the upcoming games Best PC games: Our all-time favorites Free PC games: Freebie fest Best FPS games: Finest gunplay Best RPGs: Grand adventures Best co-op games: Better together One of Josh's first memories is of playing Quake 2 on the family computer when he was much too young to be doing that, and he's been irreparably game-brained ever since.
It's hard to be a fan of D&D and anime on the internet and not have heard about Obojima, a 5e Source Book taking inspiration from 90s aesthetics and classic anime like Studio Ghibli to create a world where you might be purchasing a new cassette tape when a spirit drives by to offer you a Taxi ride. Obojima: Tales From Yatamon delves deeper into the city of Yatamon, detailing city life, places of interest, and new player options for your next whimsical adventure. After building out the greater world of the Island of Obojima in the initial book's release in 2025, fans of the setting can now return. Of the Sub-Class options in Obojima, you can pick from: - Fighter - Neko Duelist - Rogue - Fortune - Warlock - Coven Patron The Neko Duelist is very Obojima-specific in their relation to the cats of the city of Yatamon.
In 2019, Infinity Ward rebooted Call of Duty's Modern Warfare series, delivering a gritty and polished campaign featuring Captain Price and the assembly of the iconic Task Force 141. Despite the strong start, the series' sequels stumbled a bit, with Modern Warfare 3 in particular standing out as having a weak story and open-world missions that missed the mark. But with Modern Warfare 4, Infinity Ward returns the series' campaign to strength with a satisfying narrative and well-crafted missions for an epic conclusion to the rebooted series. Modern Warfare 4 Modern Warfare 4 also keeps the optional dialogue prompts introduced in Modern Warfare 2, which allow you to ask your fellow soldiers questions or make small talk.
Puzzle games have been having an incredible run over the past few years, and another contender is stepping into the ring with Thelka, Inc's The Order of the Sinking Star. Taking the basic concept of Sokoban block-pushing puzzles and adding elements from four other well-known pushing puzzle games, just how well does The Order of the Sinking Star iterate on the basic puzzle premise time and time again? Heroes of Sokoban by Jonah Ostroff, Promesst 1-3 by Sean Barrett, Mirror Isles by Alan Hazelden, and Skipping Stones to Lonely Homes by Alan Hazelden The story involves learning more about each of these groups of characters' motives and backgrounds. The best prequels typically share the same thing in common. Whether it's Red Dead Redemption 2, Yakuza 0, Metal Gear Solid 3, or Halo: Reach, each game tells a story that recontextualizes what came before. Revisiting a game after playing its prequel should alter the experience, providing you with new knowledge that changes how you perceive certain characters, places, and scenes. The events of Red Dead Redemption 2 add emotional weight to the first game and John Marston's mission by humanizing his targets, just as Yakuza 0 deepens the bond between Kazuma Kiryu and Akira Nishikiyama, making the first game's tragic finale much more impactful.

Control Resonant | Critical Consensus The sequel to 2019's Control has impressed critics with its shift to an open world and melee combat, though some felt it lacked the contained charm of its predecessor Seven years after launching Control, Remedy returns to a paranatural Manhattan with Control Resonant. Players explore a paranatural Manhattan as Dylan Faden, the younger brother of Control's Jesse Faden, who has since disappeared. "[Resonant is] driven along by strong character-first storytelling and Remedy's best action in ages" James Archer, Rock Paper Shotgun For Rock Paper Shotgun's James Archer, the studio's "gamble pays off spectacularly." "Resonant's reality-bending trip across a kaleidoscopic Manhattan is as rich in stark views, eerie atmosphere, and creative quests as Control's Oldest House ever was, driven along by strong character-first storytelling and Remedy's best action in ages." Kotaku's Cole Kronman held similar sentiments. Frustrations aside, Remedy's first crack at this style of action combat is admirable because it's foundationally sound and does have fantastic moments of satisfaction that the genre greats pull off." "If anything, the fights are simply a slick vehicle for building up Dylan as a character and funnelling you through one of the more inventive open worlds I've seen" Eurogamer's Alexis Ong, in her 3 out of 5 review, criticized Dylan's traversal abilities, which are used both in and out of combat, writing that it "plays out like Spider-Man helping literal puppies and saving civilians." "[Control] was a game that understood the genres it drew from, and most importantly, knew what it wasn't (the combat systems weren't very good then, and they're still not great now, but let's be real – no one is playing Remedy games for the combat)." However, Kotaku's Kronman found a "gratifying synergy in how the game applies movement to both combat and traversal – mastering one puts you well on your way to mastering the other." Open-ended Manhattan The original Control contained its story inside the Oldest House, filled with shifting rooms, walls, and thresholds to alternative dimensions.
Our Verdict A welcome return to Remedy's magnificent hellscapes—with too many hours of middling combat. PC Gamer's got your back In the first minutes of Control Resonant, Dylan Faden—prototypical sadboy, perpetually kicked puppy, and regretful mass murderer (he got better)—is thrust into a metaphysical war when Jesse, his psychokinetic former protagonist sister, wakes him from a seven year coma by stabbing a magical shape into his chest. The “hidden movement” genre of board games is one of my favorites and I still remember where I discovered this type of game. I was watching Wil Wheaton’s “Tabletop” series, when the game of the week was “Fury of Dracula”, a game where one person assumes the role of Dracula, spreading terror and attempting to grow his vampire forces around the globe, while the others are vampire hunters, try to track him down and drive a stake through his heart. Thankfully, at long last, the good folks at Avalon Hill have brought it back in a brand new 5th Edition, and fans around the world can once again hunt down dracula during their next board game night. For those familiar with either the Fantasy Flight Games’ 3rd or WizKids’ 4th editions, the 5th edition is largely the same but for everyone else, Fury of Dracula is a one-versus-many with one person playing as the count and up to four other players controlling the hunters.

These days, you're looking at around $100 for an original "fat" model or up to $120 for the slim model, typically with a controller and the cords, on eBay in the US, while the UK site has listings for under £30. Therefore, I would advise spending a little more on something like a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or beefier, like the Retroid Pocket 5 or Mangmi Pocket Max, as you'll then have room to play with x2 or x3 scaling.

Battlefield 6's next big update, 1.4.1.0, is launching on July 21, introducing Season 4 : Pacific Front and a naval warfare system. The update also brings back a feature that Battlefield hasn't had since 2005's Battlefield 2, and it looks like a Top Gun crossover is coming as well.
