Despite Switch 2 price hikes, US consumers actually aren't spending any more on the console now, analyst says: "Pretty smart cookies over there at Nintendo" Per Circana's Mat Piscatella on Bluesky, the average price paid for a PS5 was up 17% from $551 to $646; Xbox was up even more significantly, by 33%, from $497 to $663, while Nintendo was up… 2%? He adds, "Pretty smart cookies over there at Nintendo." Nintendo Switch 2 is going into its second holiday season this year, and with the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake introducing a new Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 console that is $20 more expensive than the base console, which means that percentage will probably increase next month… if anyone can get one that is.
RPG legend behind Fallout: New Vegas does "everything" he can to stop save scumming, but he wishes he'd "been more cynical about player behavior" in Pillars of Eternity If you've played XCOM, you know the feeling of seeing a 95% chance to hit, taking the shot, and missing. But that's just how statistics work sometimes. Josh Sawyer, the legendary RPG director behind Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity, really wishes players understood that – or, at least, he wishes he'd been more cynical about player behaviour when designing some of his games. The crux of the issue is this: players see a 95% chance of a given action being successful, and they're shocked – nay, appalled – if the random number generator doesn't come up in their favor.
My failed Steam Frame teardown... and iFixit's successful one I got too nervous to fully take apart my Steam Frame, so boy am I glad iFixit's just shown me how. You can watch my teardown attempt above. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is sat beneath 16 GB of SK hynix LPDDR5X in the bottom left, with the NAND chip above it—in this case, 256 GB of SK hynix-made storage.
Total War: Warhammer's biggest ever campaign is now $9, but what do actually you get for that? Plus the best Lords of the End Times character to buy for Immortal Empires. Back when the Lords of the End Times expansion was revealed, Creative Assembly also announced that anyone who buys a single lord in the new DLC (costing $9 on their individual store pages) when it releases on September 24 will unlock Immortal Empires, Total War: Warhammer's trilogy-spanning grand campaign which comprises all content from the past 10 years of development. If you bought Aislinn as an individual lord from Tides of Torment, for example, (also $9) you'd get Imrik and Alith Anar as Free-LC legendary lords for the High Elves.
When Xbox announced a new feature last month that lets you digitize existing physical game collections, I immediately thought of the Xbox One. Disc-to-digital seems like a clever new feature for Xbox, perfectly timed as a response to Sony killing PlayStation discs. But the reality is that it has been 15 years in the making and is now a big part of Xbox’s ongoing game preservation efforts. - The Gates Foundation says it’s spending $1 billion to expand access to AI.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 earned $1.2 billion in gross revenue, according to the estimates in Elliot's latest newsletter, 35% of which was made up of physical unit sales. Ghost of Yotei made $400 million, with 37.6% physical. Astro Bot hit $275 million with 46.8% physical. Death Stranding 2 made $129 million, with 41.8% physical.

PS2 console vs emulation Original PS2 console Easily play physical games Standardised performance Hardware compatibility Native controller support Natural, unaltered 480i visuals Requires adapters/upscalers for modern screens Emulation Play at higher resolutions Let's you play on handhelds Perks like save states, fast-forwarding, and texture packs Controller mapping for USB pads Saves you from messing with discs Susceptible to bugs, glitches, and performance caveats Don't worry, I'm going to delve into the ins and outs of using original PS2 hardware and DIY solutions. These days, you're looking at around $100 for an original "fat" model or up to $120 for the slim model, typically with a controller and the cords, on eBay in the US, while the UK site has listings for under £30. Therefore, I would advise spending a little more on something like a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or beefier, like the Retroid Pocket 5 or Mangmi Pocket Max, as you'll then have room to play with x2 or x3 scaling.

A terminally ill heavy metal fan had his final wish granted after a Canadian band brought a live concert directly to his hospital. The unnamed young man was receiving care at Bruyère Health’s Saint-Vincent Hospital and wanted to experience a heavy metal show. However, his condition meant he was unable to attend one, so staff on the hospital’s 5 North unit decided to bring the concert to him instead. Clinical chaplain Roshene Lawson helped organize the performance alongside Scott McClinton, owner of Ottawa’s Dominion Tavern.

Arc Raiders' new map will be unlocked through a community event that starts today, and everyone has to donate It looks like it's going to take the Arc Raiders community a bit of work to unlock the game's next map. As many of Arc Raiders’ regular players predicted, the game’s first post-launch map won’t just be available for everyone, it will instead be closely tied to a community event. Breaking New Ground is the name of that event, and it’s one where everyone will need to contribute in order to rebuild some old tunnels and unlock the way to Stella Montis. If you’ve spent any time in Arc Raiders, you’ll know that Basic Materials are things like Metal parts, Fabric, Chemicals, Rubber Parts, and Plastic Parts - most of which are easy to find in the game’s various maps.
