Fallout 4's overworld was always missing something that the other 3D wastelands in the series offered me: a sense of bleakness and danger. There are areas of the map, like the Glowing Sea, that managed to dial up the oppression. But the unforgiving horror mod Whispering Hills makes the whole region eerie and mysterious. This article is brought to you by No More Room in Hell 2.
Jordan Thomas, director of BioShock 2, played Path of Exile for over 7,000 hours while working on co-op horror game The Blackout Club: 'I was essentially awake all the time' Welcome to Disk Cleanup, our regular weekend feature delving into the PCs of PC gaming luminaries. Come back every weekend to read a new interview, digging into the important questions, like "How tidy is your desktop?" and "What game will you never uninstall?" Jordan Thomas grew up during the shareware era of PC gaming, fed a steady diet of free game demos by his father. "This is embarrassing in a way, but the first one I remember connecting to enough to do drawings at school—and it's so immature—but it's old Commander Keen," he says. 2026 games: All the upcoming games Best PC games: Our all-time favorites Free PC games: Freebie fest Best FPS games: Finest gunplay Best RPGs: Grand adventures Best co-op games: Better together Rick has been fascinated by PC gaming since he was seven years old, when he used to sneak into his dad's home office for covert sessions of Doom.
We’ve seen a few games dabble in the idea of wildlife conservation. Nintendo tried it with Pokemon Ranger. Capcom included it in Monster Hunter Stories 3. But with Megasploot’s Nimbit Frontier, we see a creature collector game that is much more focused on conservation efforts than other titles by making the central goal finding critters in roguelike dungeons, nurturing them in your home base, and caring for them so they can be released back into the wild.
Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft is less than a month away, and it already looks like it's going to be a massive expansion to the tabletop game. But there are still a lot of questions about whether this new expansion is going to lean more towards the combat-oriented approach of the MMO or just be a traditional D&D game on Azeroth. At New York Comic Con, I got a chance to sit down with Wizards of the Coast principal game designer James Wyatt to talk about the first Universes Beyond expansion for D&D. From how he was talking about the expansion, it really does sound more like a D&D game taking place on Azeroth than trying to shove WoW's complicated mechanics and combat focus on the TTRPG.
To say the One Ring RPG's crowdfunding campaign has done well is an understatement. This project – which revamps the current rules while adding a bestiary and new adventure book – is well on its way to $3 million dollars in pledges on Backerit. Actually, it smashed its target by 32 times in less than a day. You can pick up the Over Hill and Under Hill starter set for $28.49 at Amazon, or grab the D&D equivalent for $29.51 via Amazon.

Capcom choosing the exact same subtitle for two separate expansions in two different games makes a lot of sense. Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is not only a thematically relevant title, but thanks to the first game's expansion of the same name, it also conveys to longtime fans what to expect: namely, a new gameplay cycle focused on reworked loot and plenty of dungeon crawling. The key difference this time around is that instead of heading into the labyrinthine depths of a cursed island, you've got an entirely new region to explore. As someone who loved Dragon's Dogma 2, I couldn't really ask for much more.
Peter Molyneux explains the origin story of Black & White's famous creatures: 'It was originally a monster. It wasn't a cute creature' The father of the god game genre reveals all Recently, I travelled to Guildford to interview Peter Molyneux, the father of the god game genre, about his final game, Masters of Albion, which just got a major, game-changing update. I've been a long-term fan of Molyneux's games, though, stretching all the way back to Theme Park, so I also took this opportunity to also ask the legendary game dev about, arguably, his most famous god game creation to date, Black & White. "So when I left Bullfrog back in 1997 there was already Mark Webley, Tim Rance, Demis Hassabis, and Paul McLaughlin waiting for me to leave.
The WoW: Forever beta's nerf to dungeon XP isn't nearly as bad as it seems The danger of skimming patch notes. "Developers’ notes: We appreciate the feedback on leveling speed as we continue ongoing discussions about the Beta. Certain quest rewards have also been recalibrated: Dungeon quests now reward 50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values," via the WoW forums. Before this patch to the Forever beta, it gave around 4650 XP–-3050 more than the original, meaning that 4650 number would be reduced by 50% of that bonus, around 1525 XP.
I've worked at PC Gamer for 18 years. These are the 13 games on my Steam Wishlist If Steam is an ocean rising at a rate of 110 new games per day, this article is a snorkel. I usually use Steam's wishlisting feature to make sure I don't forget about interesting projects that have open-ended development times, games like Anvil Empires that have been in development for years but still don't have a confirmed date. His most-played FPSes are Hunt: Showdown, Team Fortress 2, Team Fortress Classic, Rainbow Six Siege, and Counter-Strike.

Tabletop role-playing games have reached an all-time high in popularity. Turns out, there’s a certain appeal about rounding up a group of friends together to go through an adventure while chucking dice in the process. For over half a century, the juggernaut of the genre has been none other than Dungeons & Dragons, designed by Gary Gygax and made super-popular through Critical Role, Stranger Things, multiple feature films, and countless other media. For those who truly don’t want to ditch the D&D 5E system, there’s also a conversion of The One Ring into the rules system that’s titled Lord of the Rings 5E, which is a fantastic supplement (and the one that hits my table the most).
5 top tips from World of Warcraft housing creators for making amazing masterworks Improve your housing game with advice from some of WoW's best home designers. World of Warcraft housing has become an amazing spectator sport, with dozens of streamers and creators entrancing players and viewers with their amazing works of art. With WoW's new patch 12.1 adding piles of new housing decor items, rooms, house exteriors, and tools to use them with, it felt like the perfect time to ask those artisans for a little help. (For suggestions from World of Warcraft's own lead design and principal artist in housing, Jay Huang, see this companion story.) 1.
Some of WoW's hardest dungeons and raids have gotten just a bit easier—that's on purpose, developers say "People are a little bit more willing now to say, 'Well I'd like to try out tanking. I'd like to try out healing.'" World of Warcraft's developers are making some subtle shifts in dungeons and raids to help players with its more-difficult content, in the hopes that a variety of knock-on effects result, including increased participation in the game overall and a better balance of tanks, healers and damage dealers. In the case of WoW's timed-dungeon Mythic Plus mode, it was a matter of making it just a bit easier to get to the mythic-level rewards of the weekly vault, says Paul Kubit, associate game director in charge of the Midnight expansion. She scored one measly point against Jonathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel in Unreal Tournament and was, exceedingly briefly, top 50 world in Halo.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy faces a difficult balancing act. Can it move away from its predecessors' terrifying waves of rats and still deliver a supernatural terror that ties into rewarding environmental puzzles? Can it ditch the series' sibling protagonists and still tell a moving story focused on two people learning to lean on one another? Set in 1334, about 15 years prior to the first two A Plague Tale games, Resonance follows Sophia instead of series protagonist Amicia de Rune.

More specifically, you should play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition, as it includes all of the game's existing DLC and regularly goes on sale for $10 .
