PlayStation's online heist game, Fairgames, has seemingly re-appeared under a codename with first gameplay and invites to a playtest. Three years ago, PlayStation announced a new online shooter known as Fairgames. It's a competitive heist game, which is a fairly unique concept on paper, but it has reportedly had all kinds of development troubles, including the departure of studio founder Jade Raymond and the game's creative director Daniel Drapeau. Looks like this is the first official look at gameplay for FAIRGAME$ aka Break In https://t.co/kuphMNor1Y pic.twitter.com/W5KE8nEO9b — Radec (@realradec) September 10, 2026 Additionally, the game requires a PlayStation account to be played, something that wouldn't normally happen for a third-party game.
Riot co-founder doesn't think 2XKO was 'a mistake' but perhaps a tough sell: 'You're not just competing against games, you're competing against everything' The tag fighter failed to capture newbies and veterans alike. After years of development, a shaky launch, and layoffs a mere three weeks later, the inevitable came for Riot's tag fighter 2XKO in August: shutdown of future development after this year, and refunds for everyone who had made in-game purchases up to that point. In its announcement post, Riot admitted that it was unable to find the momentum to keep 2XKO sustainable, a sentiment that co-founder Marc Merrill echoed during a panel at PAX West this weekend. When asked about mistakes the developer has made over the years—while tangentially mentioning the tag fighter—Merill responded: "Well first of all, I wouldn't characterise 2XKO as a mistake." Merrill says that following a meeting with EVO founders and 2XKO developers Tom and Tony Cannon , he and fellow Riot co-founder Brandon Beck "thought that there were a lot of opportunities in and around the competitive scene; thought that there were going to be benefits to the free-to-play model; thought the League IP could be incredibly cool both for League players and players in the FGC.

When Dragon’s Dogma 2 launched back in 2024, it quickly became one of my favorite RPGs of all time. I still look back on it with fondness, and time hasn’t changed my opinion. While one lucky wishlister will win Valve’s handheld (which got a big price increase earlier this year), there are also 20 Dragon’s Dogma 2 Steam keys and Fanatical coupons worth up to $100 available. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6Snuv1BMjE And if you’re a fan of Dragon’s Dogma 2 like I am, Fanatical also has a preorder discount on the Dark Arisen expansion, with a 17% discount on the listed price.
It's been a tumultuous time for development teams around the Xbox umbrella, including Undead Labs which is in the process of changing ownership amid the "Xbox reset." This left us with tons of questions about the state of its upcoming zombie-survival game State of Decay 3 and if it'd even see the light of day. Well, I played it at gamescom 2026 and I'm happy to report that the short 30-minute demo I saw and went hands-on with shows a lot of promise. Even as an early alpha build, I got a good impression of the improved gunplay and movement, and the general feeling that this is a State of the Decay worthy of the current generation while building on the series' fundamentals. The team is sticking to having a closed playtest toward the end of 2026 with a full release sometime in 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
Limbic Entertainment on life after Bandai Namco Communications manager Christopher Grünewald explains why pirate city builder Corsair Cove has succeeded where Park Beyond fell short In December 2025, German developer Limbic Entertainment was sold by Bandai Namco to a "private investor". This news came just over three years after the Japanese giant acquired a majority stake in the studio for an undisclosed sum. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz at Gamescom 2026, Limbic communications manager Christopher Grünewald said that there's no animosity between the two companies, adding that Bandai Namco is "super happy" that the studio has seen success with its recently released Corsair Cove. We aren't super small; we are midsize, but if you have a company size like that, you really have to think about what you can do and what makes sense." He concludes: "It makes sense to have one target group and make the game perfect for them." Our Verdict Metal Gear Solid 4 is a singular sequel that must be seen to be believed, and now it's right at home on PC. PC Gamer's got your back What is it A re-release of Solid Snake's legendary final mission. This Master Collection port, sold alone or alongside Peace Walker, is a genuinely thrilling object: proof that MGS4 wasn't a mass hallucination we all had in 2008, but a uniquely strange meditation on existential anxiety—of warmongering doomerism, automation, desensitized violence, and back pain—trapped for 18 years on a PlayStation 3.
The Witcher 3 developers were so focused on making a realistic environment for players that they accidentally created a morbidly hilarious side effect for the game’s female NPCs. In an interview with Edge Magazine, CD Projekt Red quest designer Philipp Weber opened up about the unintended consequences of this strategy, saying the team was so honed in on creating a believable world that they ended up causing chaos, instead. Weber explained that they wanted to give NPCs authentic behaviors to increase immersion and reward players for exploring the nooks and crannies of The Continent, particularly where small villages in the countryside were concerned. For the 50 sailors at Novigrad harbour, for example, we made 200 possible spots, so even if all 50 were active at the same time, they would have options." The next entry in the Witcher series is currently in development.
Marvel Tōkon's simple but effective combo trials are an elegant tutorial solution that I wish more fighting games had Make me use my noggin, please. The humble combo trial is a time-honoured tradition in fighting games. It's a quick and relatively easy way of trying out a new character, feeling out their general flow and kit in a low-pressure environment. They are, also, fundamentally useless.
Let me get this straight: I play a lot of the best fighting games . Anything online requires me to adapt to players far beyond my skill level, and it’s almost pointless for me to attempt to reach that level. After waiting for almost a decade for Injustice 3, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is keeping me occupied, and, to be honest, it may even be better than NetherRealm Studios’ take. Fortunately, if you want to give it a try, you can buy Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls for just $53.99 / £53.99 at Fanatical , netting you a 10% discount on the retail price.
What we've been playing - "I've wanted to go to demon school for a while" A few of the things that have us hooked this week. 8th August Hello and welcome back to our regular feature where we write a little about the games we've been playing. This week, Connor decides on Star Lord; Bertie goes to demon school, and Kelsey goes for a big walk. Also I've been chipping away at Slay the Spire 2 and Hades 2, as ever, and making incremental progress, and I installed Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC and made myself feel horrendously sick.

Amazon announced on Thursday that it’s bringing games to Prime Video by integrating its Luna cloud gaming service into the streaming platform. Games such as “Hogwarts Legacy,” “EA Sports FC 26,” “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” “Clue,” and “Taboo” will be available starting today on Fire TVs in the U.S. With this move, Amazon is hoping games can turn Prime Video into a one-stop entertainment destination, borrowing a strategy from Netflix, which has increasingly embraced party games over the past several years. Alongside third-party titles and cult classics like “Taboo,” the games library will also feature titles developed by Amazon’s own gaming division, including its “Courtroom Chaos” games and the co-op card battler “Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite.” Until now, games on Luna were only accessible through the cloud gaming platform’s stand-alone app available to Prime members.

From the iconic gun-barrel sequence to his depictions in formative first-person shooters like GoldenEye, James Bond and guns have, historically, gone hand-in-hand. What's been refreshing about 007 First Light, then, is how it leans much more on physical brawling combat. This was partly due to the game being an origin story for Bond, allowing players to see him as a young man before joining the double-0 program. It's very improvisational, you're using the environment, and those elements basically helped us build something quite unique." When it came to taking inspiration from other games, the mass appeal of Bond meant that First Light needed to have "an accessible base," where the target audience would range "from hardcore gamers to someone's dad in his 60s who's probably never played a game before but just really likes Bond." So while mass blockbuster hits like Uncharted and Batman: Arkham Asylum--particularly the latter's counter-parry system--were an important template, Marcham notes that the team also examined more hardcore titles like the martial arts-based Sifu and cult favourite Sleeping Dogs.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Microsoft has entered negotiations to shut down, or grant independence to, acclaimed action-game studio Ninja Theory just a mere eight days after the studio revealed its newest title, Senua, at this year’s Xbox Games Showcase . While the potential dismantling of a tenured studio is always tragic, Ninja Theory leaves behind a legacy that goes beyond video games, ultimately shaping Hollywood films that perhaps would not have been made without the studio's ambition. Founded in 2000 under the name Just Add Monsters, Ninja Theory built itself upon a promise of delivering high-octane action games with unique aesthetics, such as Kung Fu Chaos and Heavenly Sword. Ex Machina (2014) In a full circle moment, it was announced in 2024 that Alex Garland would write and direct an adaptation of From Software’s Elden Ring for A24.

Last week, Moon Beast Productions officially revealed Darkhaven , a new action- RPG in the spirit of Diablo II , but with a changing, destructible, procedurally generated world that both echoes Minecraft and takes inspiration from the Diablo modding scene. Moon Beast are made up of ARPG royalty – their senior staff include original Diablo senior designer, art director and writer Erich Schaefer, Diablo 2 art lead Philip Shenk and Diablo 2 programmer Peter Hu. As you’d expect, the Darkhaven devs have many Thoughts about Diablo today, at once leveraging their credits for marketing (they're about to launch a Kickstarter) and resisting the idea that they are making an unofficial Diablo sequel. I don't get the sense that any of them outright despise Diablo IV - summarised by Alice Bell as "2023's prettiest RSI machine" - but Shenk in particular argues that the game has squandered “the magic” of previous games by focussing on smooth progression and balancing and in general, “overly engineering the experience” in order to keep people glued to the game’s live service.
