Our Verdict The G5 Max is a lightweight, comfortable gaming headset with truly stellar battery life, and for that it should be commended. While it can be tweaked, it's still a fiddly, slightly cheap-feeling beast that doesn't justify its $150 price tag. For - 305-hour battery life - Light and comfortable - Detailed drivers - Bluetooth 6.0 support Against - Boxy sound profile - Disappointing microphones - Dreadful EQ presets - Too pricey PC Gamer's got your back In the world of wireless gaming headsets, there's one spec that draws me in like a moth to a flame: battery life. Edifier G5 Max value A $150 MSRP aims this headset squarely at one of the biggest hitters in the space, the Razer BlackShark V3.
The Legend of Zelda Nintendo Switch 2 special edition launches in just one day, but stock hasn't exactly been silent in the lead up. At $519.99 / £434.99, the Legend of Zelda Nintendo Switch 2 hits slightly ahead of the handheld's new $499.99 / £419.99 recommended retail price. Nintendo US launched its own Zelda Switch 2 restock on October 26, with pre-purchase links live and ready to go on the $519.99 special edition. Amazon UK has two Legend of Zelda Nintendo Switch 2 listings live right now - make sure you pick the right one About an hour ago I spotted an Amazon UK Legend of Zelda Switch 2 listing for nearly £500 - but there's another one doing the rounds as well.

As early as November 2025, Sweeney was campaigning against AI disclosures for games and calling Valve's approach nonsensical in a world where "AI will be involved in nearly all future production." This past June, he doubled down, comparing Steam's AI disclosures to a "Scarlet Letter" and insisting that they make it "much, much, much harder for a game developer to have a chance of success." Sweeney's latest message was posted as a reply to a comment from Matt Workman, whose Twitter bio says he works in "Content & Vibes" at "generative media cloud" Fal.

Stupid Never Dies makes a strong, if extremely weird, first impression. Wrapping roguelite progression around the system of an action-RPG and setting that story in an inventive punk-inspired world of monsters is an inviting hook. Plus, it's hard not to feel some affection for the dimwitted hero and his undoubtedly creepy quest to revive the supposed love of his afterlife. But the inventive world and a few neat ideas can only carry this game so far, and I ultimately struggled to look past the repetitive and often imprecise combat.
Who could forget the Duplicator from Symphony of the Night, which let you reuse Library Cards to warp to the librarian's shop, throw infinite Buffalo Stars to destroy the toughest bosses, and chug endless healing potions, as long as it was equipped? Poll 100 people on the scariest game they've ever played. Morin remembered potential partners telling him that they'd "rather invest $50,000 in 10 mobile games than $500,000 in [Outlast]." Ultimately, the Canada Media Fund (CMF), a publicly funded investment program meant to support homegrown media projects across Canada, helped bring Outlast to fruition. We were in a sprint to release the game before running out of money." Morin remembered potential partners telling him that they'd "rather invest $50,000 in 10 mobile games than $500,000 in [Outlast]." No publisher materialized, but the work continued, and eventually the team felt it could get the game to the finish line without an outside publisher, so Red Barrels did exactly that, though Morin admitted the team had no experience with that side of making video games. Once you have people coming for the food, then you can maybe hope to sell them $200 bottles of wine." Recently, The Outlast Trials quadrupled its personal-best Steam concurrent-player record , exceeding 120,000 players thanks to a hefty Steam discount, players' desire for scary games to play around Halloween , and a surge in China specifically.
Epic said its game launcher was faster than Steam on the same day Steam got a speed boost—so I've put both to the test There's only seconds in it, mind. Catching a glimpse of my screen is often a stressful experience for my colleagues. Earlier this week, Epic shared on X that it had "vibe coded the Epic Games Launcher to be faster than the other guy." On the same day, Valve released a Steam Client update that "Improved Steam Client startup performance." Well, there's only one thing for it: I've got to benchmark these bad boys to determine once and for all whose launcher is actually faster. The Steam client loaded in 9.32 seconds on average, while the Epic Games Launcher loaded in 5.98 seconds for me.
Our Verdict Asus' 20th anniversary edition of the Xbox ROG Ally X is as bougie as the $300 price bump implies. For - OLED - No more stick drift - Great thermals Against - $300 more than an already pricey handheld - No performance uplift on the Xbox Ally X PC Gamer's got your back The Asus ROG 20th anniversary lineup has been interesting. The actual top dog, the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ CG3EM and its Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor, ekes out better performance with anywhere between a 20-40% performance uplift in our game testing, but it's also just under 40% more expensive in the US. View Original View Original View Original View Original View Original View Original View Original The new OLED screen goes up to a peak brightness of 1,400 nits, which is bright enough to even bring this bad boy outdoors, and with the Lenovo Legion Go 2's 8.8-inch OLED panel going up to 1,000 nits and the OneXPlayer 3's 8.8-inch AMOLED display going up to 1,100 nits (though these two go up to 144 Hz), I'd pick the Asus model out of the three.
Anbernic shared a new video of its upcoming dual-screen handheld it announced last week showing the device playing 3DS, Xbox, and PS3 games through emulation. Those handhelds are designed to be modern replacements for the Nintendo DS, but the new RG DDS, short for “Dream Dual Screen,” has a faster processor and displays with aspect ratios optimized to replace the Nintendo 3DS — although Anbernic isn’t trying to recreate the glasses-free 3D effect. Full performance details aren’t yet known, and Anbernic has yet to reveal the RG DDS’ price or how aggressively it plans to compete with devices like the Ayaneo Pocket DS which currently starts at $579. What we do know is that the RG DDS will feature a 4.7-inch, 1,200x720 top screen and a 4-inch, 960x720 bottom display that match the aspect ratios of what the 3DS used.
No matter what your opinion is on the art style, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is shaping up to be a brilliant remake Song of rebirth. I honestly can't tell you how many times I've completed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, let alone how many hours I've spent in its bucolic version of Hyrule. Though, when I told my Mum about the upcoming remake she said, 'Oh the one with the music,' in a tone I've decided to interpret as delight. This Permafrost guide teaches you the basics of the game's mechanics and gives you tips on how best to survive the new ice age on a post-apocalyptic Earth! How to Play Permafrost Permafrost has a fairly robust early-game tutorial, so we won't waste your time with any kind of walkthrough. Split Fiction (PS5) $32.49 at Amazon Wrap yourself in a JRPG blanket with this huge discount on Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake There's a lot of debate about the best Dragon Quest game, which is funny because it's obviously Dragon Quest 11, but Dragon Quest 3 makes an incredibly strong case for itself. Our Verdict If you're in the UK, the Katana is an all round solid machine, capable of delivering respectable frame-rates and decent-ish CPU performance too, especially for the price. And although, yes, that's probably three days of heating this coming winter, if you forgo the soothing warmth of your radiators for a bit you can net yourself an RTX 5060, Core i7 14650HX, and 16 GB of (gloriously dual-channel) 5,600 MT/s DDR5 RAM, all paired nicely with a crisp 2560x1440 "IPS-level" display flickering along 165 times every single second. It's one of Samsung's… well, I'm not going to reel off the serial code because it's one of those cryptic OEM-only designations that makes no sense to any human that reads it, but in short its an OEM PM9C1b, PCIe 4.0 SSD, that should top out at 7 GB/s on the read and 5.7 GB/s on the writes. That's almost excusable at the £1200 - £1300 mark, and unconscionable at $1,800 (I have seen this cheaper during my time testing, but let's not assume it's always on offer).
Performance In FHD, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 manages to out-perform the MSI Raider A18 HX A9W in two in-game benchmark runs, Total War: Three Kingdoms and Horizon Zero Dawn: Remastered, while falling just shy of MSI's numbers in Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Cyberpunk 2077. In my tests, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 came out on top against the MSI Raider A18 HX A9W and Razer Blade 18 in 7 tests across 1080p, 1600p, 2400p, and 3D Mark benchmark runs. Single-core Geekbench 7 performance goes to MSI as well, with the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D pulling an average of 3,186 across user tests and the Intel inside the Scar 18 only mustering 2,874. At $5,000, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 is primarily competing against the Razer Blade 18 and MSI Raider A18 HX.
I made two $50 gaming keyboards fight for my average-gamer affections, and for me there's one clear winner In the battle of the silly naming schemes, we all lose. Welcome to my own personal battle of the budget gaming keyboards, where I make two reasonably-priced input devices fight to the bitter end for my affections. Still, it's got a surprisingly good specs sheet for its $40 MSRP, although it's gone up since our review and is now often found for $50-$60 instead.
