"What's the harm in asking?" – Dlala Studios on taking a big swing to get comedy legend Bob Mortimer for the upcoming game Murals "Honestly, the Bob Mortimer you see on television, he's even a hundred times nicer and funnier than that in person" The name Bob Mortimer might not mean much to those who haven't lived in the UK, but he's a huge deal in the world of British comedy. He's one of the country's top comedians, having starred in the double act Reeves and Mortimer, and he recently won the UK version of Amazon's Last One Laughing game show. He's also – as revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 – a voice performer in the upcoming game Murals from developer Dlala Studios. Mortimer's involvement began when company founder Aj Grand-Scrutton and lead writer Kelsy Abbott wrote a character that was a "rip-off" of the comedian.
Steam's latest beta brings 'Big Art' to Big Picture Mode and Steam Deck, and customizable screensavers too The update makes a number of less flashy changes too. If you play on a Steam Deck, or just rock with Big Picture Mode on your PC, the latest Steam client beta will be of big interest: It adds a new "Big Art Mode" that makes your home screen look a whole lot prettier (this is a subjective evaluation, yes, but I think it's prettier), a new screensaver feature, and a range of performance improvements and bug fixes. There are two screensavers available: - General - Improved Steam Client startup performance - Fixed a case where after server maintenance some users might fail to auto-reconnect to Steam - Fixed bug where being prompted to refresh credentials more than once could trigger an immediate restart - On Windows, using the systray menu to exit while the Steam window is minimized will no longer flash the window visible briefly - Dialogs that appear for serious error conditions now stay above the main window - Game Recording - Fixed some cases where playback would jump to an unexpected point in the timeline when reaching the end of a play session or clip - Decreased performance impact of game recording for some D3D12 games on Windows - In-Game Overlay - Fixed frame rate hitches in D3D11 and D3D12 games when taking screenshots on Windows - Fixed rendering the overlay and using other overlay related features (screenshots, game recording, etc.) in Vulkan games that create multiple windows. - Big Picture Mode - Added explicit warning text to power menu confirmation dialogs when proceeding will shut down an active game - Updated default artwork when an app does not have library or hero artwork - Reorganized the idle timer settings when on battery and AC power - Steam Input - Improved CPU performance at runtime and in configuration loading - Added information about which configurations are compatible in the configurator browser when using a game that requires Steam Input API - Fixed the controller support widget showing "This game doesn't support controllers" for unreleased games that don't have controller support information yet - Fixed controllers not using the desktop configuration on the desktop UI login window - Added the missing settings for adjusting emulated joystick adaptive centering on trackpad - Linux - Improved download speeds on high latency connections.

The people of video games on what gives them cause for hope "Forget trodden down, I think our future sees a beautiful revolution." Hello and welcome to one of our final pieces for Optimism Week here on Eurogamer. This time, we've turned to the industry itself for some answers, and as such I'm going to do my best to get out of the way as quickly as possible. "The bundle ended this morning, as of this writing, and we managed to raise more than $250,000 in two weeks. Look at this year's breakthrough hits… Mewgenics, 007 First Light, Crimson Desert, Pragmata, Subnautica 2, Forza Horizon 6, Meccha Chameleon, Pokemon Pokopia, Resident Evil Requiem, Slay The Spire 2… the variety is incredible.
Fallout dev Tim Cain says we should pay more attention to bad games: '[Publishers] often don't learn from failure because they only look at the games that sold well' "Gamers will frequently point to popular games and say, 'we want more of that,' without necessarily knowing exactly what part of those games made them so good." "Jesus Christ, I could write this shit:" The great Alan Moore once said that the sort of negative inspiration you get from reading drivel is even more fruitful for aspiring authors than the kind you get from reading the classics. Fallout co-creator and prolific video blogger Tim Cain took it a step further in a video he published Wednesday, saying everyone from bigwig publishers to the casual gamer could learn a thing or two from bad games. Granted, he's not talking about irredeemable refuse like Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude, but rather the "many" cases where "one game came out, it wasn't very good, and it was forgotten … you could learn a lot from games like that." Immortality creator Sam Barlow reveals his next game: A 'sci-fi horror' collaboration with Brandon Cronenberg Precognition promises to "follow in the footsteps of Immorality" with a tale of visions of the future, and why they're not always great. Back in 2024, Immortality creator Sam Barlow teased a new thing codenamed Project C. During today's Kinetic Publishing Showcase, it was finally unveiled as Precognition, a sci-fi thriller being developed in a collaboration between Barlow's Half Mermaid Productions and horror director (and son of David) Brandon Cronenberg. That sets a very high bar to clear: Immortality earned a nearly unheard-of 95% score in our review as "Sam Barlow's best, most thought-provoking game yet." Score aside, that accolade itself is no small feat given that its predecessors, Telling Lies and Her Story, are genuine bangers themselves.
Our Verdict Asus's latest 4K OLED gaming monitor doesn't just pack LG's latest Tandem WOLED tech. So, where the Asus Strix model was rated at 330 nits full screen and 1,500 nits peak HDR in a 2% window, this RGB-stripe Asus Swift clocks in at 250 nits and 1,000 nits respectively. At $1,299 or £1,099 this is a very expensive display. You can typically get a first-gen 32-inch 4K QD-OLED for somewhere in the $600 to $700 range, currently.
We haven't needed motion blur in games for a long time, so I wish it would stop being the default Do you also turn it off immediately, like I do? This week I've been: recovering from testing Halo: Campaign Evolved and playing far too much The Binding of Isaac. Right now, as you stare at this article on a phone, monitor, PS Vita, whatever, spin your head around. As pointed out back in 1999, Kong looks a bit weird in the 1933 King Kong movie, because the background shots are shot on camera and the titular great ape was animated with still photos.
Razer has insisted that optical keyboard switches are the best choice for competitive esports stars and the sweatiest of try-hards, but it’s now relenting slightly by offering cheaper keyboards with magnetic switches and a similar array of gaming features. The $120 Razer Huntsman V3 HE Magnetic Mini and $140 Huntsman V3 HE Magnetic Tenkeyless, both launching today, are the company’s first keyboards to use Hall effect switches. Their linear switches have an average latency of 0.6ms, which is of course very fast but ever-so-slightly slower than the 0.48ms of optical Huntsman boards like the V3 Pro. Wooting’s 80HE and 60HE v2 are some of the most praised gaming keyboards around, but Razer’s new HE boards undercut them by about $60.
Silent Hill: Townfall takes place in 'the perfect storm'—a remote Scottish town that stands on the edge of the age of the internet The internet has been a pretty scary experience for me. What a fantastic time to be a horror fan. We've got the most amazing films coming every which-way, countless new indie games to enjoy, and the revitalisation of some of the best horror series gaming has, one of which being Silent Hill with its upcoming game Silent Hill: Townfall. Last year we got Silent Hill f which took fans to 1960s rural Japan—exploring the purgatory between tradition and modernity—and this year we have Silent Hill: Townfall set in 1996 St.
Silent Hill: Townfall promises to "massively subvert" your expectations, and it's left me painfully excited Plus, producer Motoi Okamoto on mixing the series' "core identity" with "more experimental" gameplay. The problem is Silent Hill 2 Remake is now one of my favourite games of all time, Silent Hill f – wonky combat since addressed – scratched a part of me I didn't know was itchy, and Silent Hill: Townfall's developer, Screen Burn Interactive (formerly No Code), is also the team behind the brilliant Observation and Stories Untold. Silent Hill was resuscitated with a bang in 2022 when Konami announced Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall, Silent Hill Ascension, and movie Return to Silent Hill all at once, with Silent Hill Short Message shadowdropped thereafter, too. Read this next - Silent Hill: Townfall's new gameplay trailer quietly confirms how long its PS5 exclusivity will last - Silent Hill: Townfall's dev team wrecked old TVs with magnets to make its in-game gadget feel real - Silent Hill: Townfall has a PS5 release date, and things are getting scary in very foggy Scotland this September
Stalker 2 developer refutes claims by studio founder that Xbox paid more than game's development cost to make it exclusive "That is simply not true." Earlier this week, GSC Game World studio founder Sergiy Grygorovych made a bombshell revelation about the development of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Grygorovych said in an interview with YouTuber OLDboi that Microsoft paid a significant sum to keep the then-upcoming open-world shooter a timed Xbox exclusive. According to Grygorovych, Microsoft paid the Ukrainian studio more than it cost to develop the game in order to release it on Xbox, and not PlayStation. "It paid for itself before the first day," Grygorovych said, via machine translation.

GamesRadar+ Verdict Funny in bursts, regularly creative, yet held back by distinctly average combat and poor exploration elements. High on Life 2 is a surreal trip well worth taking, although you'll need to adjust your expectations accordingly. Pros - + Bright, engrossing world - + Very funny (sometimes) - + Pleasingly unpredictable Cons - - So-so combat - - Dodgy skateboarding implementation - - The crudest humor lacks confidence Why you can trust GamesRadar+ High on Life 2 is many things. Release date: February 13, 2026 Platform(s): PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 Developer: In-house Publisher: Squanch Games If you got any kind of pleasure from the first High on Life, this is very much for you, as it's the same kind of weird, humor-drenched atmosphere but with much tighter pacing.
