With a cracking new tactical feature and dedicated UI "strike team", Football Manager 27 is a huge step back towards FM's best form Arteta tête. Welcome back, Football Manager. Football Manager 27 is a big, much-appreciated step in the right direction. He put Bruno Fernandes back in the number 10 role, reverted to a familiar 4-2-3-1 formation, gave a relatively large amount of creative freedom to more creative players, and set them up in more of a fluid counterattacking mid-block as opposed to Amorim's structured, finely-tuned high press.

Last week, SEGA invited me down to London to go hands-on with its upcoming historical action game Stranger Than Heaven one final time before its launch on 15th January, 2027. This was my third time playing the game, but while previous demos had focused solely on the combat, here I was able to get a taste of the wider campaign Yakuza dev RGG Studio is creating. Jesse Eisenberg says he "couldn't get into studio movie parts" because he won a Worst Supporting Actor Razzie for playing Lex Luthor in Batman v. The Social Network star elaborated on what has become one of his most divisive roles when speaking at the BFI London Film Festival (via Variety). He recalled how his time as a long-haired Lex made landing acting roles more challenging, specifically calling attention to how his Golden Raspberry Award win played a part during a difficult time in his career. IGN gave the film 6.8/10 review, saying, "BvS is carried by a brutal Batfleck, but as a whole it offers more philosophical drama than superhero escapism."

Chipotle has turned its ingredients into musical instruments for an original song recorded at one of the world’s most famous studios. The fast food chain unveiled “From Ground to Sound” on October 5, a track performed using instruments made entirely from fresh vegetables found in Chipotle restaurants. The song was recorded inside Studio Two at Abbey Road Studios with the London Vegetable Orchestra, a five-member group of classically trained musicians specializing in creating and playing instruments made from vegetables. A snippet was previously featured at the end of Chipotle’s 100 Creators campaign in August.
The upcoming sim about making games is so deep your in-game game can even get cyberleeked Let's Build a Dungeon isn't just about making a game, but all the stuff you have to deal with while making a game. Of all the games on the horizon, the one I may be most looking forward to Let's Build a Dungeon. It's a sim from Springloaded, makers of Let's Build a Zoo and the upcoming RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks, and the premise is one we've all mulled at one point or another: what if I could make my own videogame? And in Let's Build a Dungeon, you can.

The BBC's new director general has described a 50-minute AI-generated episode of Doctor Who as "pretty good," and suggested that the technology now enabled the creation of content "at the standard of a Hollywood studio." Brittin became boss of the UK's iconic broadcasting company in May this year, after almost two decades at Google, where he wound up working as the company's UK managing director. Now in charge of the BBC, Brittin faces a tough task of making further drastic cuts to the corporation's spending, while it continues to try and produce world-class programming — including its flagship sci-fi adventure series that's currently on hiatus after a disastrous few years. Doctor Who fans largely agree that their favorite show has declined in quality over the years, but especially over the past two seasons which featured Ncuti Gatwa in the role, and the return of Russell T Davies as showrunner. "Somebody sent me a 50-minute episode of Doctor Who that was AI-generated the other day," Brittin said, speaking at the Royal Television Society conference in London this week (thanks, Variety).
"What if London existed in the Grand Theft Auto universe?" One fan has answered with a GTA-style map of the city Draw the line. "What if London existed in the Grand Theft Auto universe? What if Rockstar created a GTA game set in London?" Anyone sitting in the venn diagram centre of GTA fan and cartography sicko might be happy to learn that YouTuber CityEd has answered both of those questions with a GTA-style map. "For instance, Kings Cross becomes 'Dukes Cross', Angel becomes 'Saint'', and the whole city becomes 'Trafalgar'." CityEd's thought experiment aimed to carry Rockstar Games' naming conventions across the pond - that includes the developer's signature satire, "exaggerated landmarks and GTA-style cartography" - using the studio's past games as a reference point.

Jack Hoppus discusses Modern Warfare 4's "boots on the ground" lens, making multiplayer work for two types of player, and how Infinity Ward approaches new Call of Duty games Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is actually the seventh Modern Warfare game. A former Rockstar Games director has revealed fresh details about the scrapped GTA: Tokyo project, including its planned gameplay, weapons and the Japanese studio that could have developed it. Former Rockstar North technical director Obbe Vermeij previously confirmed that GTA: Tokyo was considered alongside games set in Rio de Janeiro, Moscow and Istanbul. Now, Vermeij has explained just how the potential spin-off would have worked and revealed that Rockstar wanted to make a GTA III-style game featuring samurai swords. GTA: Tokyo would have been developed like Bully and had swords Speaking in an interview with Thunderpick, Vermeij said the project was primarily driven by Rockstar’s New York office.
"They've watched so many people lose their jobs, that has an impact" – Managing morale in the wake of layoffs HR experts discuss how to care for staff, and for themselves, as widespread layoffs and closures continue in the games industry With tens of thousands of jobs lost across industry in the past few years, to say this is a demoralising time to be working in video games would be something of an understatement. It's impossible to truly calculate how many lives have been affected by the studio closures and waves of layoffs we've seen, which have an impact not only on those who have lost their livelihood, but also on those who remain employed. Much of the burden for handling both redundancies and staff morale during such situations falls to HR departments – something we will be discussing at the GamesIndustry.biz HR Summit on Thursday, October 1. Emma Smith, who spent 15 years handling HR at Creative Assembly before forming her own consultancy Hestia Talent Partners, suggests that not enough attention is being paid to those whose jobs have (for now) remained safe.
