Microsoft has released a statement in response to a new rumor that claims the company is considering a massive shakeup to Xbox Game Pass in 2027 that would include numerous significant changes. The tier with ads would be $13/month, while Game Pass without ads would cost $20/month, according to the report. That's $3/month less than Game Pass Ultimate currently, and the price cut is reportedly reflective of another big change: Microsoft is reportedly removing day-one new releases from Game Pass starting in the February-April window of 2027. Slayven said on October 1, 2025 that Microsoft was raising the price of Game Pass Ultimate to $25--they were right about an increase, but it actually went up to $30/month .

It passes clean over the 2 million viewers who watched Gamescom's Opening Night Live, and it's more than double both the last PlayStation's September State of Play and Nintendo's focused Mario Kart World direct from April 2025, which respectively had 1 million and 930,000 viewers at peak.

Former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida has seemingly reacted to the news that Sony has dropped Hideo Kojima's highly anticipated stealth game, Physint, allowing Xbox to swoop in, and he's just as surprised as we are. Overnight, PlayStation announced that "we have made the difficult decision to step away from collaborating with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on its project PHYSINT." However, Kojima's own statement highlights this move as being a lot more one-sided than you might expect: "In mid-June of this year, we unexpectedly received notice from PlayStation Studios that they would cancel the PHYSINT project," he reveals, going on to say that "we have spent the last three months searching tirelessly for a new partner," leading Kojima Productions right back to Xbox, which it's also teaming up with on horror title OD. The concept that any company would want to cancel a Kojima game is shocking, and the situation of PlayStation essentially handing it over to its main competition only makes it weirder, even though it's unclear if Sony could have known that's where the game would end up. Yoshida, former president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios, has responded to the news on Twitter, expressing how "surprised" he is (translated by GamesRadar+).

Sony clarifies PlayStation disc production is dropping by 10 percent in 2028, not to 10 percent Spin doctors. Sony has pushed back on a wave of reports suggesting PlayStation disc manufacturing is about to be gutted by 90 percent after comments from a Sony DADC executive were allegedly misunderstood. According to Game, which went directly to Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation (DADC) for clarity, output is actually expected to dip by 10 percent in 2028, not to 10 percent. "To clarify and avoid any misleading information: in that statement Dietmar anticipated an overall product volume decline by 10 percent, not a decline down to 10 percent," a Sony DADC spokesperson told Game, referring to comments made by DADC chief Dietmar Tanzer to an Austrian broadcaster in July.
Hideki Kamiya, creator of Bayonetta and director of Resident Evil 2, said he isn’t too fussed about physical vs digital games; instead, he’s more concerned with preserving games for players to enjoy in the future. Hideki Kamiya is behind some of the biggest franchises in gaming history. From Bayonetta to Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 2, and Okami, he’s a veteran of the industry. As such, fans are naturally curious about his stance on the current debate surrounding PlayStation’s plans to end production of all physical game discs starting January 2028.
Bungie has confirmed it is "exploring options" to sublease 210,984 square feet of its massive headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, saying the move reflects its continued focus on a "digital first" model. Following major layoffs across Bungie’s team in June, the studio has made the decision to put a large chunk of its Bellevue headquarters up for sublease, meaning that it’ll be renting out parts of the space to a third party (or parties). The Game Post broke the news after reportedly reviewing a 10-page advertisement for the building in a commercial leasing brochure, which stated that 210,984 square feet of the building will be available to sublease through September 30, 2035. As per reporting from The Seattle Times, this location employed 1,000 staff members in 2023; the company reportedly laid off approximately 320 employees between October 2023 and July 2024, making this most recent round of layoffs even more brutal.
Inside Tencent's long-term strategy: live service, AI tools, and evergreen titles "I think people should just not be afraid of AI" Many column inches have been spent questioning the wisdom of focusing on live-service. Sony gambled and lost, as did many other companies chasing the dream of steady recurring revenues, while firms like Capcom that stuck to the traditional path have emerged relatively unscathed. That includes Miniclip, Sumo Digital, Funcom, Fat Shark, Sharkmob, 10 Chambers, and Stunlock Studios in Europe, as well as Digital Extremes in North America and Grinding Gear Games in New Zealand.
