When I start action games, I typically start on harder difficulties, just so I can have the game push my limits and strategies a bit more. So when I first booted up Phantom Blade Zero, I was surprised to find that you do have the option to start on Wayfarer, Pathbreaker, or Hellwalker, aka: easy, medium, or hard, but not 66 Days mode. Coming to a concession by starting on Hellwalker, I found that you can just switch difficulties whenever you like, which I’m sure can be for better or for worse, depending on who you talk to. But after 40 hours beating the game on Hellwalker, I wasn’t sure if the 66 Days mode would be worth replaying the game for.

For a lot of people, the appeal of horror is being surprised and disturbed by something they've never seen before.
