Studio Atelico launches Atelico AI Engine into Early Access "The studios that succeed won't be the ones using the most AI, they'll be the ones using AI entirely in service of the player experience," says CEO Studio Atelico has launched its Atelico AI Engine into Early Access. The studio's technology, first used in its debut game Bobium Brawlers, is designed to run on-device instead of relying on data centres. The Atelico AI Engine works with Unity, Unreal Engine, and Godot, enabling developers to generate images, run language models, implement speech systems, and create AI-driven character behaviors. The engine allows AI to run alongside gameplay without impacting rendering performance and removes cloud dependencies across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Linux, on both GPU and CPU.
Gaming storefronts are facing a Slop Grenade problem | Opinion Players and creators alike dislike AI-created games, but digital storefronts are ill-equipped for the avalanche of slop that threatens to tank discoverability and turn away consumers There is currently a concerted and not-so-subtle campaign underway to try to manufacture consent for the use of AI in game development. At its core, this is about presenting AI as a fait accompli. Every week or so we get a new report making dubious claims about almost every development studio already using AI. The message to developers is "you'll be left behind if you don't use it too"; to players, it's "this is already done and there's no turning back".

Epic Games further doubles down on gen-AI tools for Fortnite, Unreal Engine 6 and more: "Our engineers are no longer writing the bulk of the code" "We are more concerned about the risks of moving too slowly than we are about AI skepticism."
