Cheating in video games has turned into a multi-billon dollar industry, one that has forced franchises like Call of Duty to build entire teams to combat this epidemic. One of the people leading the charge is a man named David Andrews, a former Department of Defense contractor and member of the Air Force who made the leap into the video game industry. He began this career change working at Rockstar Games, helping combat cheating in Grand Theft Auto Online. Former Call of Duty pro and legend FormaL got permanently banned in the Modern Warfare 4 beta live on stream 💀 The Oris is so good it’s got pros getting their accounts flagged 🤣 pic.twitter.com/8MlHBfbH3G David Andrews: So, the thing I'll say for that one is I think, obviously, we replied to that particular instance, but he certainly wasn't the only person that was caught up in that slight error there.
Zombiepunk action RPG Stupid Never Dies is a vibrant feast for the eyes, ears, hands and teeth, even if it is a smidge overwhelming Punk’s undead It's hard to know where to start when talking about Stupid Never Dies. An action RPG built on style, excess and punk ideology. I mean, within the first minutes of my demo starting, I am flushing undead protagonist Davy down a toilet in an abandoned shopping mall to arrive in a hellish arena. Davy, one of very few survivors (can you call a zombie a survivor?) of a worldwide apocalypse, makes his way through and further down into the underworld, all in the hope of reviving his crush Julia — a gorgeous girl who happens to already be frozen to death.

Hardly surprising given it looks almost exactly like Nintendo's best gaming handheld contender, but the latter half of the video loads up GTA: Vice City Stories for the PSP alongside Super Mario 64, Crazy Taxi on Dreamcast, the Sega Saturn RPG Shining Force III, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for PS1. Dive into new DS handhelds Those of you who'd rather pick up a new portable now for DS games have a few options for under $100, including the MagicX Zero 40, a delightfully odd vertical handheld for $75.99 that makes use of a vertical display, and the existing Anbernic RG DS that's still around for around $88 and is similar to the upcoming Plus. The Anbernic RG DS Plus will apparently be available for under $100, whereas you're looking at $259 for a base Ayn Thor Lite model.
Half of France's premier FPS sibling duo just put out the most exhilarating parkour game I've ever played, and it's only $8 All movement, no shooter. Weird Weekend is our regular Saturday column where we celebrate PC gaming oddities: peculiar games, strange bits of trivia, forgotten history. Pop back every weekend to find out what Jeremy, Josh, Ted, and Rick have become obsessed with this time, whether it's the canon height of Thief's Garrett or that time someone in the Vatican pirated Football Manager. Even though it costs more than Straftat's hard-to-beat "free," at $8, Vholume is firmly a "no duh" purchase recommendation in my book.
Nintendo is hosting two Directs in the coming days, and it’s pretty much all I’ve been thinking about since the announcement. On Tuesday, September 8, it’s The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, followed by a more general Nintendo Direct on Wednesday, September 9. Twilight Princess on Nintendo Switch Online Speaking of NSO, it bothers me more than it should that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the only 3D Zelda game that’s not playable in some form on Switch 2. Ultimate noticeably hasn’t received a Switch 2 performance patch like Super Mario Odyssey, the open-world Zeldas, and plenty of other best-selling Switch 1 games, and combined with the fact that a new Smash game almost always hits within the first two years of a new Nintendo console, it feels like a prime candidate for a Switch 2 Edition.” And, after spending the last year declaring it to be too soon for 3D Mario in the wake of Donkey Kong Bananza – another 3D mascot platformer from much of the same team as 3D Mario – I now think we’re entering the window where we could see the plumber show up any time.

The Switch 2 launched just over a year ago, and we've already gotten our hands on some excellent games. If you're looking for recommendations of what to play on the newest console, we've compiled every Nintendo game that we've given a review score of 8 or above. 10/10 - Masterpiece Donkey Kong Bananza From IGN's Review: "The leader of the bunch is finally back to kick some tail in Donkey Kong Bananza, a brilliant successor to Super Mario Odyssey and a smashing return for a classic Nintendo character. DK’s satisfying, expressive movement and powerful, dynamic abilities create a truly groundbreaking adventure." - Logan Plant The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Switch 2 Edition From IGN's Review Update: "Not only does The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom still hold up as a game I can’t wait to lose a few dozen more hours in, the updates and additions made to the Switch 2 Edition make it feel like this is the way it was always meant to be played." - Tom Marks The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Switch 2 Edition From IGN's Review Update: "This Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is of course an enhanced version with visual upgrades, faster loading times, and support for the Zelda Notes service via the Nintendo Switch App on your mobile device.
"The things that we based our assumptions on have changed fundamentally": Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani on the games industry's rapid transformation The executive says that long development times, the rise of Asian developers, and the advent of new tech like AI make predicting the future hard, but indies are well positioned for success The CEO of Helldivers 2 maker Arrowhead Game Studios, Shams Jorjani, has said that the games industry is in a "transitional phase at the moment". Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz at Gamescom, the executive said the strategies that worked for developers and publishers through the 2010s are not "working anymore". [Steam Replay 2025 showed that 44% of user playtime was on titles between one and seven years old] People scream for new games and IPs, but they don't actually buy them. That will allow us to know that we're able to hit that specific group, and we should do this now, early into development rather than waiting two years after getting broad user tests." He concludes: "But it requires you to let go of that old playbook of playing your cards close to the chest for years, and then dazzle and razzle." The people of video games on what gives them cause for hope "Forget trodden down, I think our future sees a beautiful revolution." Hello and welcome to one of our final pieces for Optimism Week here on Eurogamer. This time, we've turned to the industry itself for some answers, and as such I'm going to do my best to get out of the way as quickly as possible. "The bundle ended this morning, as of this writing, and we managed to raise more than $250,000 in two weeks. Look at this year's breakthrough hits… Mewgenics, 007 First Light, Crimson Desert, Pragmata, Subnautica 2, Forza Horizon 6, Meccha Chameleon, Pokemon Pokopia, Resident Evil Requiem, Slay The Spire 2… the variety is incredible.
This past week, the world lost Hayden Panettiere. Only 36 years old, the former child actress established herself as a household name in numerous iconic roles in film and television. From Claire, the super-powered cheerleader from Heroes, to Kirby Reed, the horror know-it-all from the Scream franchise, Panettiere proved herself to be a highly versatile actress in an ever-evolving industry. Panettiere also lent her voice to Xion in Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, a spin-off that focused on the villainous organization from the sequel and Chain of Memories.
In addition to being a Mario enthusiast , my four-year-old son is also a devoted Pokemon fan--one whose knowledge of the series is well on the way to surpassing my own. Being a four-year-old, he is also a big fan of anything covered in sugar, making him the perfect person to accompany me on my quest to try all six of Krispy Kreme's limited-edition Pokemon-themed doughnuts . After preordering a box of doughnuts late last week--yes, we somehow live in a timeline where you can preorder doughnuts --we secured the goods early this morning, then headed back home to begin our tasting. For added context, my husband and I decided to pair Krispy Kreme's offerings with coffee whereas my son opted for 2% lactose-free milk in his favorite Pokemon cup.
Three Epic veterans are building an AI-powered game engine to break the industry's doom cycle Amid mounting discontent with Unity and Unreal, Immens promises lower costs and faster development for small teams Unity and Unreal have dominated the development scene for a long time now, and were used to make roughly 70% of the games released on Steam in 2025. Godot has seen some significant growth in the past few years, and many big companies still favour proprietary engines – like Capcom with its RE Engine – but otherwise, Unity and Unreal have got the game engine market sewn up. Yet Arjan Brussee, Sjoerd De Jong, and Michal Valient, the founders of Immens, think there is room for a new engine on the scene – and room for improvement. The industry veterans' CVs cover an impressive range of big-name companies, including Unreal maker Epic Games, Guerrilla Games, Boss Key, and Apple, and the trio are ready to challenge the industry titans.
Star Wars Zero Company takes place right at the end of The Clone Wars, my favorite period in Star Wars' huge timeline. That conflict begins with the Battle of Geonosis in Attack of the Clones and concludes with the deaths of the Separatist leaders in Revenge of the Sith, but a vast majority of the galaxy-spanning war is covered in the seven seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. For example, Season 5, Episodes 17-20 is the Temple Bombing Arc, in which the Jedi Temple is bombed in a terrorist attack, and in a storyline that feels super 9/11-coded, both the government and the Jedi Council leap to assumptions, suspect and hastily imprison innocent people, and betray the trust of allies all in the name of catching the bomber. Which is why, if you've got the time and a Disney+ subscription, you should check out The Clone Wars (specifically Season 4, Episodes 7-10) before picking up Star Wars Zero Company.

Insomniac's take on Wolverine is ferocious, destructive and cinematic - but a little predictable Claws and effect. Going into my demo of Marvel’s Wolverine, I mainly wanted to try out the game’s very bloody combat. But after two-ish hours of slashing and stabbing (and parrying!) enemies with Wolverine’s claws, I left surprised — despite no previous attachment to the character, I was deeply endeared to Logan himself. Wolverine on the PS5 made me care about Marvel’s mutant for the first time Spider-Man developer Insomniac’s new game has delightfully gory claw-based combat, but its real hook is Logan. The demo, which was held at Insomniac Games’ office in Burbank, California, started at the beginning of the game.

Praise for something new can often come at the expense of what came before it. One aspect of art and media criticism that I find irksome is that to uplift new works, older ones from the same lineage are often undersold at best, or completely thrown under the bus at worst. It’s a trend I’ve seen most recently with Splatoon Raiders , the first spin-off title in one of my favorite Nintendo franchises. Splatoon Raiders may very well be the best single-player-focused experience in the series, but let’s not fool ourselves into thinking that the campaigns in Splatoons 1, 2, or 3 were significantly inferior, from either a gameplay or story aspect.
