The anime studio behind Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX almost made the fantasy cartoon I've been dreaming of, but this 2 minute clip is all we get Comic creator Andrew MacLean's Head Lopper almost became a gorgeous, gonzo anime from Project Studio Q Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more You are now subscribed Your newsletter sign-up was successful Want to add more newsletters? Comic writer/artist Andrew MacLean's over-the-top fantasy comic Head Lopper is one the best barbarian comics of the last decade, and its immediately recognizable visual style and bloody, gonzo action was almost adapted into an animated series from Project Studio Q, the same anime studio that brought us Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. Unfortunately, as often happens, the streamer that was in talks to bring the Head Lopper anime to screens wound up fading away through numerous mergers and changes in ownership, leaving Head Lopper by the wayside. I've also been the on-site reporter at most major comic conventions such as Comic-Con International: San Diego, New York Comic Con, and C2E2.
Metal Gear and Castlevania programmer and designer Shutaro Iida has passed away at the age of 52 after a battle with cancer, according to a post on his X account. The post, which was spotted by ResetEra user Foffy earlier today, confirms that Iida died on February 10th due to pancreatic cancer. If you don't know Iida by name, you'll almost certainly know him from his work; he served as a programmer on several Castlevania titles, including iconic games like Aria of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin, as well as working as a level designer on Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. As well as the Castlevania games, Iida also worked on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and its demo-sized predecessor Ground Zeroes as a programmer; he appears to be a big part of why the enemy AI in those games is so solid, as it were.
Metal Gear's Solid Snake joins the roster of Rainbow Six Siege, finally making a crossover with Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher real Kept you waiting, huh? Rainbow Six Siege is one of those multiplayer games that continue to thrive without making much noise outside their core communities. In fact, last year brought a number of substantial changes to the game through the Rainbow Six Siege X update. And if you were thinking Solid Snake is just a skin or a lazy operator design, you'd be wrong: As thoroughly described by the blog post on Operation Silent Hunt, "Solid Snake excels at tracking down Defender positions and scavenging supplies on the battlefield to adapt to any situation" thanks to the familiar Soliton Radar MKIII gadget and an "On-Site Procurement ability." The battle pass for this season instantly unlocks Snake and includes cosmetics for other operators, like the Psycho Mantis outfit for Smoke.

Rogue Point aims to prove old school is the new cool with a back-to-basics shooter The developers behind Black Mesa return with a retro-flavoured co-op shooter that thumbs its nose at the bloated complexity of modern online games "We wanted something that you could pick up and play with friends," says Brad Sheremeta, marketing and community manager for Crowbar Collective, when describing the studio's new game, Rogue Point. Out in Early Access today, the co-operative PvE (player versus environment) shooter is a response to the overly complicated, time-sink nature of modern titles in the genre. "Right now, you're seeing a lot of these games that are 'sweaty games' that you have to grind at, especially first person shooters," says Sheremeta. And beyond that, the retro, no-frills nature of Rogue Point fits a gap in the market for titles that echo the simpler times of old – like the hugely successful Warhammer Space Marine 2, which won players over with its unashamedly Xbox 360-era gameplay.
Roblox debuts tool for players to AI-generate interactive in-game objects, promises "full scene generation" is coming News follows share price plunge following debut of Google's Genie world-generation tool Roblox has announced a beta tool which enables users to create interactive 3D models from text prompts, an upgrade to its existing 3D asset generation tool revealed last year. The feature was announced in a blog post. The announcement follows widespread investor excitement over the debut of Google's Genie tool for world generation, which prompted a sharp stock price drops for Roblox along with other major game publishers including Nintendo and Take-Two. The game's creator, Laksh, said that players using the functionality had "shown a 64% increase in play time in Wish Master on average.” Anupam Singh, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Roblox, said the company is "actively working on our end vision of an open vocabulary schema system that will allow the creation of any schema" and that Roblox envisions "a future where creators and users will be able to generate any type of 4D object and behavior they want" although did not provide a timeline.
