If early iterations of characters had survived the development process, Tracer could have been a very different Overwatch hero. Speaking to GameSpot at BlizzCon 2026 , game director Aaron Keller mentioned that he had been playing Overwatch since 2013, "since Tracer was shooting lasers out of her eyes." When questioned about such a strange sequence of words, Keller explained that the bizarre version of Tracer came from the first days of Overwatch's engine development in late 2013. "When we were creating the Overwatch engine, you know, so this is late 2013, the first day we got Tracer in we all ran around but we didn't actually have a projectile system yet," he added. "So when you would fire, just like straight out of her eyes, [it was] two red lines." There weren't even any proper visual effects involved at that point.

The channel's latest Newell chat, "Gabe Newell Explains Why Valve Never Went Public," is already its most-viewed video with 1.3 million views after four days. For example, Newell mentions "there was a big thing a couple of years ago where everybody was trying to hire low-cost content producers in India and China." He says Valve was "trying to do the opposite." "If somebody working on a feature film production in New Zealand is making $200,000 a year, if they come to Valve they should be making $500,000 or $5 million, creating that much value," Newell continues.

Hey hey hey, it's time for Netflix to make some crazy money (as if they don’t have enough already)! As part of a major push for more video game adaptations, the streaming service's has partnered with Sega to adapt the publisher's beloved 1999 racing game, which will switch lanes and become a feature film. To ensure that the level of ridiculousness on the road meets demand, Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, who wrote The Naked Gun reboot, have been tasked with taking the wheel and penning a script (per Netflix). Set in Japan across different eras between 1915 and 1965, the game lets players control Makoto Daito, a Japanese-American orphan who ends up in Japan and eventually forms the Tojo Clan.
Actor Roger Clark played Arthur Morgan in Rockstar's celebrated 2018 Western Red Dead Redemption 2, and his performance was memorable for many reasons. In the game, Arthur suffers from tuberculosis, and he coughs a lot as a result. Was it challenging for Clark to perform those sequences in particular? Clark told Cade Onder that he had "five years to spread it out," regarding his voice-capture performance in Red Dead 2, and that's part of the reason why it wasn't as difficult as you might imagine.
Fortnite's Kingdom Hearts collab is finally arriving this week, and it looks like it's not just Sora joining Epic's battle royale. Fortnite's current gaming-themed season, Override, kicked off last month, at which point it was confirmed via the official key art that Kingdom Hearts protagonist Sora would be added to the game soon with his very own skin. Almost a month into the season, folks were starting to wonder where he was, but Epic has now revealed that we can expect him to be added to the game "this week." A new teaser video gives us our best look yet at Sora and his slightly Fortniteified Keyblade – you'll notice that the keychain attached to it that'd normally be a little Mickey Mouse head has been swapped for a Fortnite llama, instead. Latest Videos FromGamesRadar+ Presumably this will be available to buy as a pickaxe, though it'd be very cool if it was added to the loot pool as a Mythic weapon, too – Epic hasn't confirmed this either way at this stage, though.
StarCraft is a narrative-driven shooter with 'a definitive ending' and 'not a seasonal game' The shooter will have a "beginning, middle, and end," according to StarCraft GM Dan Hay. Following the announcement of a new StarCraft game at BlizzCon's Opening Ceremony, GM and creative director Dan Hay (best known for Far Cry 3-6) spoke to Korean media about the open-world shooter. Based on Inven Global's transcript, it sounds like StarCraft will be a shooter along the lines of the Far Crys, though with a customizable lead character, and not a live service multiplayer game. 2026 games: All the upcoming games Best PC games: Our all-time favorites Free PC games: Freebie fest Best FPS games: Finest gunplay Best RPGs: Grand adventures Best co-op games: Better together Tyler grew up in Silicon Valley during the '80s and '90s, playing games like Zork and Arkanoid on early PCs.
Discussing 20 years of Company of Heroes with the team carrying its torch into the future "I'm really pleased that we're here, able to support the games, and able to celebrate this 20th anniversary." I still remember the PC Gamer cover from October 2006 featuring Company of Heroes as the vanguard of the "RTS Revolution." This was back in the day that I would walk down to the local grocery store to grab each new physical issue off of the news stand. I was already failing trigonometry. After the announcement that Dawn of War 4 was being developed by German studio King Art Games—I was later told Relic passed on it as they simply didn't have the bandwidth to take it on alongside other ongoing projects, mostly related to Company of Heroes—I was wondering if there even would be a Relic anymore. But in the meantime, they have split from Sega and become independent again. 2026 games: All the upcoming games Best PC games: Our all-time favorites Free PC games: Freebie fest Best FPS games: Finest gunplay Best RPGs: Grand adventures Best co-op games: Better together Leana Hafer is a freelancer and lifelong PC gamer with a specialty in strategy, RPGs, horror, and survival games.
After Sony tells fans they don't own digital games, one Consumer Rights group is tracking all the times PlayStation said the opposite Own goal. Last month, Sony argued that "reasonable consumers" already know they don't really own the digital goods they paid for. The Consumer Rights wiki has now made a list collecting more than 30 examples where Sony told customers they do, in fact, own the digital games they paid for. (You know, the links to the company's Terms of Service and Software Product Licensing Agreement that show up just before you pay for something on the PlayStation Store.) Seemingly in response to those arguments, the Consumer Rights wiki has now created a "non-exhaustive table of references on Sony's site to 'owning' digital games." The list includes more than 30 occasions in which Sony's site has said something along the lines of, "View a broadcast for a game you own through the game's hub," or, "If you own the PS4 and PS5 versions of the same game, here's how to switch between them…" One of the more recent examples can be found in Marvel's Wolverine's FAQ section: "Standard Edition owners can also upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition content." The lawsuit claimants said Sony was in breach of a California Law that made it "unlawful for a seller of a digital good to advertise or offer for sale a digital good to a purchaser with the terms 'buy,' 'purchase,' or any other term which a reasonable person would understand to confer an unrestricted ownership interest in the digital good." (Reasonability doesn't seem like something you could measure in court, but I digress.) A digital vendor can get around the law by giving customers clear information about the licenses they're paying for.
Nintendo has finally revealed its The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake with a lengthy gameplay demonstration and luscious release date trailer . This long-awaited revival of the seminal masterpiece looks incredible, and is poised to be a very faithful take on Link’s first 3D adventure. But this dedication doesn’t mean that Nintendo isn’t introducing a bunch of new features to the game or updating aspects of the experience so it looks and plays better than ever. Here are eight major changes coming to the Ocarina of Time remake and why they might impact how the game looks, plays, and departs from the 1998 masterpiece.
More than 40% of people cancelling Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus and Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions blame rising costs [Surprised Pikachu face.] Players cancelling their subscriptions to video game services like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus are more likely to blame costs today than they were at the start of the year. For Xbox Game Pass Essential and PS Plus Essential, 40% of cancellers gave the same reason compared to 37% in Q1.
Blocks for Babies is an upcoming Steam game that combines Tetris-style block stacking with a first-person shooter where players blast demonic blocks with a shotgun. Nintendo of America thanks fans for dealing with tariff-related price hikes by encouraging them to spend more money in a new sale "The refunds helped make promotions like this one possible." Nintendo of America is currently facing a class action lawsuit for refusing to pass tariff refunds onto customers, and it's against that backdrop it today announced a "Customer Appreciation Sale" apparently made possible by those rebates. In a blog post, Nintendo called this one of its "largest promotions ever", and included the following line which has had people scratching their heads: "While Nintendo absorbed most tariff-related costs, the refunds helped make promotions like this one possible." A quick recap: following the introduction of tariffs by the current US government last year, Nintendo increased the price of multiple products in the country, citing "market conditions" as justification. Nintendo, in this sale announcement, argues that it "absorbed" most of the costs, but the company has received a refund. This sale is set to run from the 13th September to the 26th September on the Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Store, and participating retailers.
A decade ago, at its PlayStation E3 press conference, Sony introduced veteran game designer Hideo Kojima in grand fashion to show off the first trailer for Death Stranding. It's now 2026, and that partnership appears to have fizzled out, as Kojima's Metal Gear Solid spiritual successor, Physint , has found a new home at Xbox after Sony dropped it . The Metal Gear Solid creator has also confirmed that he received notice from the company that it intended to cancel Phsyint, leading to several months in which the project was shopped around before Microsoft stepped in to sign a publishing deal. https://twitter.com/milktst/status/2097886264649490701 https://twitter.com/philiparola/status/2097938828204146875 https://twitter.com/ItsRyanHyett/status/2097944205138022833 https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:hkkn5gfv3zwfzzeeqj3rssfn/post/3mv54aqbwg223 https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:o5v2ehhranox5nubskub6424/post/3mv53vuhark23 https://twitter.com/FunSpeculation/status/2097886852174782611 https://twitter.com/slothsaretight3/status/2097881425408368750 https://twitter.com/realradec/status/2097906192198574122 https://twitter.com/TheVTran/status/2097902322257195516 https://twitter.com/MasterLeytrx/status/2097877698894770267 Physint is the second game from Kojima Productions to be made in partnership with Xbox--the first is his upcoming horror game OD--but don't expect to see it for a long time.
A few hours into Wolverine I found myself asking, “Why did Insomniac Games make this?” There are obvious answers, of course: It has three excellent Spider-Man games under its belt; it's an opportunity to expand its Marvel Universe; and Wolverine presents ample opportunities for a brutal and bloody action game. But none of that explains why Insomniac Games , specifically, made Wolverine. Spider-Man is an ideal fit for the studio: an energetic and dynamic hero in the hands of a team known for open-worlds that are sprawling jungle gyms, where it can let players loose with thrilling traversal mechanics and varied combat systems for crime fighting fun. Insomniac also excels at crafting narratives that are as earnest as they are dramatic--perfect for the tumultuous lives of Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
While Nintendo and SynSophia sort of made a name for bigger-name dress-up games outside of Japan with the Style Savvy / Wagamama Fashion: Girls Mode series, FuRyu and Racjin do a similar thing with its Nicola Kanshuu / Model Debut line. As you’d expect, it’s also about picking out the best looks for the right situations, though with a greater focus on the modeling side of the business. Model Debut4 is the latest entry that again prioritizes getting to play dress-up, with a few general quality of life adjustments to keep things interesting. Hair styles are still a bit more limited and feel like they aren’t really considering curl types beyond 2a, 2b, and 2c and no body type adjustments are available so everyone has the same shape, but it does feel like the beginnings of more inclusive options.
As final hearing over GTA firings begins, Rockstar reiterate they "reject the claims" made by union and will defend themselves "vigorously" Legal battle lines are drawn Rockstar Games have issued a statement making clear they're sticking to their guns, as the final hearing in the legal battle between them and a group of former staff they fired last year begins. The hearing's set to run from today, September 10th, until at least October 15th. The Independent Workers’ union of Great Britain (IWGB) and fired staff re-emphasised their stance earlier this week, announcing they'd be hosting a rally ouside the tribunal venue this morning. As a longtime Resident Evil diehard, it was fascinating hearing all of Leon's bad puns, Grace Ashcroft's panicked breathing, and even lines from less central characters like RE4's Merchant and Requiem's Chef Zombie, that Capcom for whatever reason decided didn't cut the mustard.
