"The subtype was really resonant, and we know that a lot of people do like Arcane, they just don't love Splice Onto Arcane, so it's a way to turn something that maybe is seen as a bug into a feature." Today at New York Comic Con, Wizards of the Coast announced the first 2027 Universes Beyond expansion set for Magic: The Gathering. Marvel’s Darkhold Destiny will pit Doctor Strange, Thor, Ghost Rider, and more against cosmic villains like Hela and Dormammu in 2027. The set will include normal and Collector booster packs, and four pre-constructed commander decks themed around Marvel heroes and villains, including the Midnight Sons. Multiple cards were shown during the hour-long panel, including Magic, who transforms into Darkchild, Gargantos, and the titular Darkhold.
Wizards of the Coast just announced Magic: The Gathering Darkhold Destiny, its latest Marvel set in a New York Comic Con panel. This is the third Marvel collaboration for the card game, but where the first two were about presenting super heroes as they already exist in Marvel canon, Wizards of the Coast was able to cook up its own storyline for Darkhold Destiny. The Winter Soldier himself, Sebastian Stan, recently pitched a "Sicario-esque" Bucky Barnes movie to Marvel Studios leadership. When speaking to New York Magazine, Stan revealed that he pitched Kevin Feige on a solo Bucky Barnes film in the vein of Denis Villeneuve's 2015 movie, Sicario. The film would have been smaller in scope, with a tighter budget, and focused on a more personal mission for Bucky. Stan noted that he was "half-joking" with his pitch, but Feige responded well to it and said it sounds cool.
