It has been less than two years since Xbox announced that longtime series developer 343 Industries would be rebranding to Halo Studios . This was envisioned as a new dawn for the beloved shooter franchise, as Xbox seemed to leave the Reclaimer Trilogy behind as it sought to tighten Master Chief’s focus to enable a more faithful and satisfying future. As someone who always held out hope for Halo regardless of how dire things seemed, I was legitimately convinced that this reformed studio was destined for bigger and brighter things. I became even more reassured following the July release of Campaign Evolved , a confident remake that despite polarising reception amongst hardcore audiences, did its job of pulling a fading icon back into the limelight.
Out of all my hobbies, there isn’t a single thing that I can point to as the “big bang” moment when my interest in it sparked. All with one exception, board games, and that flash of inspiration was the first time I played Arkham Horror 2nd Edition from Fantasy Flight Games, back around 2008. One of my earliest Facebook photos is of me and my friends sitting around the dining room table at my mom’s with our standees lined up facing the Cthulhu's giant card as we made our final stand. Now, that same edition that sparked my love for the hobby has its sights on coming back as Arkham Horror Remastered and its campaign that will help make it a reality is launching in just a few short days over on Gamefound.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave has some of the best tactical gameplay in the series to date, but actually digging into the art of seeing units bonk each other on the head in turn-based combat is a massive slog. Between a shift to Persona-like storytelling and a laundry list of chores, the game can feel like the equivalent of the Achilles and the tortoise paradox ( via a Jujutsu Kaisen breakdown ), because the closer I get to actually moving the story forward, the further I feel I am from actually engaging in some of that fantastic warfare. And that's a shame, because Fortune's Weave is a really great evolution of the core Fire Emblem gameplay experience. Don't sweat the training https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UneVog1cME One thing I've discovered is a gameplay loop that Fire Emblem expects you to follow with each Flame Lord.

Capcom choosing the exact same subtitle for two separate expansions in two different games makes a lot of sense. Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is not only a thematically relevant title, but thanks to the first game's expansion of the same name, it also conveys to longtime fans what to expect: namely, a new gameplay cycle focused on reworked loot and plenty of dungeon crawling. The key difference this time around is that instead of heading into the labyrinthine depths of a cursed island, you've got an entirely new region to explore. As someone who loved Dragon's Dogma 2, I couldn't really ask for much more.

Chinese romance game Love and Deepspace has sparked backlash after sharing fictional cocktail recipes featuring real plants that can be poisonous if consumed. The official Love and Deepspace account posted the drinks on September 29 as part of its current in-game event, giving fans ingredient lists for cocktails themed around different characters. But the post quickly became flooded with comments because two of the drinks use potentially dangerous flowers as garnishes. One combines sweet peach juice and gelatin sheets with Flame Lily, while another mixes crimson pomegranate juice and cinnamon with Datura.
Burger King is rolling out a new Game Day Menu across the US, headlined by a new pretzel burger topped with nacho cheese sauce. The fast food chain announced that the stadium-inspired lineup will arrive at participating restaurants nationwide on October 6. Alongside the new burger, Burger King is also giving its Chicken Fries a game day upgrade with nacho cheese sauce for dipping. The launch comes as Burger King looks to position its latest limited-time menu around football season, with both items built around flavors commonly associated with stadium food and game day spreads.
"Why should we just give up the entire month of November?" – The indie games going head to head with GTA 6 Fairy Mount and Devolver Digital explain why they are releasing their titles against what could be the biggest game launch of all time, and analysts weigh in on whether it's a good idea Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on November 19, and it's a fairly safe bet that it will be the biggest game launch of all time. The "extended look" preview of GTA 6 in August was viewed over 31 million times on Netflix in four days, and Sensor Tower reports that the game has already been pre-ordered by more than 5.6 million people, with the vast majority plumping for the pricey $100 ultimate edition. The firm estimates GTA 6 has already generated more than $550 million in revenue, even though the game's actual launch is still well over a month away. GTA 6 and FFF are catering to very different audiences, on different platforms, with different aesthetics and sensibilities." The Fairy Mount boss says that launching alongside GTA 6 is about "making a stance for the small gamedev scene", adding that he isn't phased that GTA 6's budget – which is reportedly well over $1 billion – is "literally 40,000 times bigger" than his title's.
The Industrial Revolution is the reason RPGs have area-of-effect spells: A PC Gamer Causality Chain™ Spl-ASH damage. Causality Chain is a series at PC Gamer exploring the unlikely links between history, culture, and videogames. Every time you cast a meteor spell in Diablo 2 or a cloud of daggers in Baldur's Gate 3, you are taking part in a chain of history—a causality chain, if you will—that dates back to the 18th century, when nobody had thought about taking a "warlock dip" since the Salem witch trials. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is the latest in the long-running series to garner critical acclaim and a welcome return to form for Nintendo's premier strategy series as one of the best RPGs in 2026. Now you’re probably thinking that these tips will only be for combat, but thanks to the rather robust tutorial, understanding how to fight is actually relatively simple. No matter if you decided to begin with Casual or Classic settings enabled, the real complexity of Fortune’s Weave actually lies in the downtime between story quests, and chances are that at least one, if not most, of the core decisions you need to make will be more than a bit befuddling. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is a massive game that can easily last well over 100 hours. But you can actually make it a little less massive with the surprising ability to skip over a whole swath of the game, as players are starting to discover. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave consists of four story arcs starring separate protagonists, the four Flame Lords: Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda. You can play these in any order (though we have some recommendations ) and by themselves each of these campaigns can last around 10-20 hours.
As a series, Fire Emblem has had two standout features compared to other tactical RPGs. First, characters can build relationships with their allies, and in more recent entries, even become romantically involved. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave doesn't focus on the seduction side at all, preferring to show the camaraderie between teammates. The second feature, one that's been there since the first NES game, is that characters can permanently perish in combat.
