The 1TB Switch 2 SD card stopped working over the weekend, but fortunately, PNY's official firmware fix came to the rescue.
Earlier today, a wave of hands-on previews for FromSoftware's The Duskbloods went up around the internet. One of them claimed that the upcoming Switch 2 game is due to be released on September 24. Now, Nintendo says that information is "inaccurate," but it's done so in the least convincing way possible. I suspect that the company's partnership with FromSoftware goes far enough that neither would want to step on the other's toes – and with Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave set to be released on September 17, a September 24 launch for The Duskbloods would certainly be a poor dance partner.
We're only 1 episode into new DCU Chapter One show Lanterns, but the theories are already starting to roll in. The latest being that fans think that Kelly MacDonald's character Kerry is a Gothamite in disguise. Despite Lanterns being set in Nebraska, DC fans are positive that the local sheriff is actually from Gotham City. In episode 1, Kerry is seen talking on the phone to a police Commissioner when she says, "Tell Barb I said hey." Could Kerry be talking to Gotham's Commissioner Gordon?
The ongoing collapse of the crypto gaming industry claimed another victim this week, with blockchain startup Proof of Play announcing its demise roughly one year after shutting down its flagship game, Pirate Nation. Founded by FarmVille co-creator Amitt Mahajan, Proof of Play was one of the many companies that attempted to pair familiar, casual gameplay with crypto token incentives and player-owned assets in the form of NFTs--a premise that most gamers never warmed up to. Last August, Proof of Play--which raised $33 million in venture funding--said it would shut down the full Pirate Nation game and instead roll out smaller minigame experiences. Axie Infinity’s in-game economy collapsed a few months later, with a $625 million crypto heist from North Korean hackers adding insult to injury.
I've been a fan of dogfighting games since playing Elite with my dad on his old Acorn computer. He'd do the flying and I'd fire the weapons. Maybe that division of labour is to blame for my biggest weakness as a pilot: knowing when to pull out of a strafe. Once I've my gunsights on an enemy I'll continue flying at them with my guns firing until either they explode or I do.

People Playground from mestiez / Studio Minus recently had a major problem with malware pretending to be a mod in the Steam Workshop. I would say this is a reminder to be careful on what you're downloading - but these types of things are quite difficult for normal users to spot until it's too late. For many it was too late, since this wiped away various things. In PSA posted on Steam the developer said on February 1st they disabled the Steam Workshop, and a few days later released a security update to prevent the issue in future and as of February 6th they have enabled the Steam Workshop once again.
Indie game film adaptation Iron Lung earns $21.5 million on opening weekend Lands at #2 on US box office thanks to involvement of YouTuber Markiplier A low-budget horror film based on indie game Iron Lung earned $21.5 million on its opening weekend, thanks to the involvement of YouTuber Mark Fischbach, better known as Markiplier. Its success, off a reported production budget of $3 million, points to the significant transmedia potential of even smaller game adaptations. Iron Lung, based on the 2022 game of the same name, was written, directed by and starred Fischbach, who previously played it for his audience of 38.2 million subscribers on YouTube. It received only a limited international release, and earned $17.8 of its weekend take in the US, where it arrived at #2 on the domestic charts behind Sam Raimi horror Send Help.
