NBA 2K has long been the standard-bearer for high-quality sports games. It's the pinnacle that other series like Madden, FC, and even the oft-beloved MLB The Show aspire to emulate in whatever ways their respective sports allow. That's not to say it gets everything right, but it often feels like the team at Visual Concepts is competing against itself. Still, it essentially means NBA 2K is not a $70 game, but closer to a $100 game for anyone planning to play online with their friends.
The PR masterminds at the White House just released a series of vaguely policy-themed “arcade” games, some of which are racist — and modeled on real games whose copyright holders may not be too happy to be associated with the MAGA agenda. The White House is making arcade games racist Tetris isn’t happy about it. The Tetris Company has already responded to “Build the Wall,” which is obviously modeled on the famous puzzle game. “We are currently reviewing the matter.” The various companies whose brands the White House ripped off to make and promote these games — including Sega, Nintendo, Xbox, and the Flappy Bird Foundation Group — did not immediately respond to The Verge’s request for comment.

As with so many other companies, including video game console makers, Panic increased the price of its Playdate handheld when US President Donald Trump implemented sweeping tariffs. When those tariffs were deemed unlawful and refunds become available to companies, most kept the money for themselves--but Panic has now confirmed it will be passing those refunds on to customers. Word of the refunds was emailed out to impacted customers recently. With that money secured, it's automatically refunding the tariff amount--$12.36--to anyone who paid that surcharge, and the money should automatically end up in their accounts within the next few days.
Nightdive's Thief remaster unearths a 'very very out of date version control repository' with 'the wildest things to say about the code' "The way they do the lighting is exactly the same as Quake," says Nightdive's Josh Dowell. It's great that the Nightdive's remasters of various classic games give new players a chance to experience them without having to download a fixpack or remap the controls or whatever, but it's also a wonderful opportunity to learn new things about games we already loved. The latest Windows 11 update is borking some multiplayer games, but Arc Raiders' developer has a quick workaround If you've been affected, it might be worth rolling back your Windows version. If your games started unexpectedly crashing after getting a Windows update on or after August 11, you aren't alone. Microsoft reports the following "symptoms" popped up for "a limited number of games": - The game application becomes unresponsive - The game application closes without notice - The error "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" is displayed - The device restarting without warning Microsoft has only confirmed crashes in Arc Raiders, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and The Finals so far, but you can send feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app if you've also found a game crashing since the update. As of right now, the only client versions that have reported crashes are 25H2 and 24H2, so 26H1 is currently in the clear.
Xbox's latest console update is rolling out now to Xbox Insiders, giving players more control over the home screen and saves, as well as improvements to profile customization. As part of the update , which will first roll out to Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead Xbox Insider members starting today, tiles can now be more easily removed from the Recent Games and Apps list at the top of the Home page, including the entire Play History tile. Those lucky enough to have earned the Day One achievement for playing on an Xbox One on its November 22, 2013 launch day will also score a new Day One profile badge. Meanwhile, Xbox console prices have continued to rise, with the latest price hike going into effect on August 1 , raising the price of the 512GB Xbox consoles by $100 and by $150 for 1TB models.
Nintendo promised the 2.0 Pokemon Pokopia free update patch would include a major Dive move addition for underwater exploration and now confirmed in the patch notes other quality of life changes like a shared Portal Pod storage item, a Habitat update that addresses issues with destroyed ones, underwater building, and the ability to “throw out” items in garbage cans. There are also fixes that made things like Honey, music notes, and progression quests not work properly. This all appears alongside the new Bubbly Basin DLC. (I already maxed out the area, so I’m uncertain what level was needed.) Once you get the recipe for 3,000 points, you can start making them for 1 Rare Pokemetal and 10 Pokemetals.

For the most part, you won't notice anything out of sorts, but after sharing a quick photo of my old PS2 memory card screen running through the upscaler, I received comments asking, "What's with the Final Fantasy "9" save icon?" This quirk aside, the GBS-C is a solid PS2 upscaler Yes, it's guilty of doing weird things with this specific PS2 save icon, but the GBS-C will serve up great 1080p visuals that won't flicker for $89.90, which is far less than other options out there with motion-adaptive de-interlacing.
Old mod data could cause real trouble with all the changes made for the big launch.
What makes SteamOS so great is the fact that it is a console-like experience for a PC, which means you can turn it on and everything is instantly available to you from the comfort of your couch. However, it's still a PC, which means for those of you interested in going further, you can customize it with pretty much anything you can imagine that runs on Linux, which unlocks the potential of it far more than any other console will allow. Because the Steam Deck has been out for several years now, people have been tinkering with SteamOS for a while, and there are a lot of options available to you. If you want GOG, you have to pay an additional $6.

The employee went viral after sharing how the AI assistant continued to delete her emails despite being asked to stop.
A man was saved by Apple iCloud after an AI tool chose to delete his wife’s important family photos and illustrations from the last 15 years. Artificial intelligence has started playing a prominent role in plenty of people’s day-to-day lives, being used to speed up menial tasks at work and even providing companionship for people who are lonely. There are tools that will clean up your computer storage too, deleting any items that it deems unneeded and tidying up those files that dominate your home screen. Developer Nick Davidov found that out when he asked Anthropic’s Claude Cowork model to “organize” his wife’s desktop, only for it to try and delete quite a lot of family photos from the last 15 years.
Touting 16 GB of DDR4 and a 512 GB SSD, its otherwise solid entry-level hardware is stymied by a high price, that's only been amplified by those pesky datacenters hoovering up NAND flash left right and centre. For - Slim form factor - Good selection of ports - Relatively affordable… relatively Against - DDR4 sucks - GPU selection is just okay - Many, many different SKUs PC Gamer's got your back This is the Nitro V 15, a modern entry-level gaming laptop from Acer. I mean It doesn't quite manage to hit that $1,000 mark, at least not in the US, where it retails at $1,079 (it slides under at £925 in the UK), but there is at least some justification as to why these hardware concessions are there. Compared to something like Gigabyte's Gaming A16 with its (admittedly 32 GB of) DDR5 clocked at 5,200 MT/s, and even with the same processor, percentage change is around 66% by comparison.
REANIMAL 's length of the main campaign might have earned some negative criticism, but the lack of official Ultrawide support is certainly a disappointment. REANIMAL , so far, has been one of the better-made Unreal Engine 5 games that I have tested out. Unlike High on Life 2 , the general performance is pretty good. That's until you try to run the game on an Ultrawide monitor.
