Nonolith traps you in a living maze and challenges you to find hidden terrain magic using good old copy-paste No, you can't just CTRL-A DELETE After enjoying Echo Weaver last week, I'm in the market for games that gaze with utmost scorn upon the concept of unlockable abilities, smugly declaring that everything you need to complete them is available to you from the word go. There was a time when the idea of a game without unlocks wasn't all that novel, you know. Indeed, you young people may be surprised to hear that videogames pre-date the act of unlocking. Genesis-era Sonic the Hedgehog never unlocked so much as a +5% SPD perk.

The official social media account for the popular RPG-dating sim Love and Deepspace issued a warning to players after announcing some fictional cocktails with potentially disastrous real-world consequences if actually consumed. On September 28, Love and Deepspace revealed five ‘Shimmering Blend’ cocktail recipes as part of an in-game event, each themed around one of the game’s dashing romanceable characters. While they’re pretty to look at, you shouldn’t actually make some of these, as they include garnishes that are poisonous to humans. — Love and Deepspace (@Love_Deepspace) September 30, 2026 “Hey, so some of these flowers are literally poisonous.
Chinese romance game Love and Deepspace has sparked backlash after sharing fictional cocktail recipes featuring real plants that can be poisonous if consumed. The official Love and Deepspace account posted the drinks on September 29 as part of its current in-game event, giving fans ingredient lists for cocktails themed around different characters. But the post quickly became flooded with comments because two of the drinks use potentially dangerous flowers as garnishes. One combines sweet peach juice and gelatin sheets with Flame Lily, while another mixes crimson pomegranate juice and cinnamon with Datura.
We're probably not getting a new Fallout game until well into the 2030s, but that's no reason to stop talking about them The bombs may fall for real before then. That last mainline entry in the Fallout series, Fallout 4, was released in 2015. That's most likely still half a decade away, if not more: Bethesda first needs to finish and release The Elder Scrolls 6, which is itself mostly likely still a few years away. Sure, in the meantime we've had Fallout 76, and Microsoft has cracked the whip over the backs over what's left of Obsidian Entertainment to produce a Fallout something, but what's the earliest we'll be able to conceivably play Fallout 5?

There's way too much going on in Fortnite's core Battle Royale mode in Chapter 7 Season 4. With sprites giving everybody a bonus ability, and Overrides fundamentally changing the way the game works in the middle of matches, we've got kind of a large pile of gimmicks that show up in matches at random, if they show up at all. But it's worth pointing out that the record-holder in this case--when we moved from the nostalgia-chasing Chapter 2 Remix in November 2024 into Chapter 6 the following month--the average number of players fell from a very high number (over a million) to a pretty good one (just over 600k). It's a slightly better percentage drop than we saw in 2024 (38% vs 42%), but a drop like that is a lot worse when it comes from a lower starting point.

Welcome to my own personal battle of the budget gaming keyboards, where I make two reasonably-priced input devices fight to the bitter end for my affections. A poisoned mod reportedly hijacked players of a Steam game and fired slurs at their friends, which wasn’t the multiplayer anyone ordered. The game was People Playground, a ragdoll sandbox with hundreds of thousands of Steam reviews, and its Workshop had already weathered a self-replicating mod that wiped saves in February. Since then, malware-laced maps helped hackers seize Meccha Chameleon’s Discord, which left Workshop fans understandably twitchy, but round two turned out far nastier. People Playground shuts off mods after second Workshop malware attack Developer mestiez disabled the Workshop on September 22 and warned in a Steam post that this latest malicious mod was “especially bad” in a statement that opened with the following: “You might have noticed the Workshop has disappeared again.
"This one is especially bad": Steam game about mistreating ragdolls suffers second bout of mod-based malware this year People Playground players urged to run scans and avoid firing it up until further notice People Playground, a Steam sandbox game about torturing or otherwise messing with innocent ragdolls that work like crash test dummies, has had its Steam Workshop disabled over a "malicious mod" peddling malware. That's according to the game's developer Mestiez, who's urging anyone who played the game with mods on September 21st to run virus scans and has told everyone not to fire People Playground up until they've announced it's safe to do so. "You might have noticed the Workshop has disappeared again," the developer announced in a Steam post on September 22nd. This one is especially bad." They urged anyone who played People Playground with mods between 6PM and 8PM CEST on September 21st (that's 5PM and 7PM BST) to run an anti-virus scan.
Xbox's new reshuffle has seen Rare moved under Activision, 24 years after Xbox outbid the publisher for the studio. While the studio's Sea of Thieves is seemingly super successful, it was one of the powerhouse developers of the 1990s only to flounder throughout the 2000s and 2010s; the big shift being when Rare was purchased by Microsoft. Latest Videos FromGamesRadar+ And with Xbox's latest wave of redundancies that continue the planned 3,200 jobs cut throughout FY27, Microsoft has announced that Rare will be moved under Activision as part of this reshuffling. Dring notes that when Nintendo declined to buy the remaining 51% of the studio a bidding war for the developer started that was eventually won by Xbox, with the studio being purchased in September 2002 for $375 million.
Bungie unvaulting Destiny 2 content was a studio-saving emergency decision, because Marathon updates were never going to be enough At the last possible moment, Bungie takes a surprising and vital first step to winning back player trust. Over the past couple of months, my Destiny 2 Fireteam has given me a tour of the Destiny 2 content I missed when I hopped off the train following the pandemic. When you play all the dungeons back-to-back, it's a buffet of delights—a concentrated dose of amazing and frequently obtuse FPS level design that you simply can't find anywhere else. A reminder that Bungie, pre-layoffs, was the very best at what it did.
There are quite a few months until Final Fantasy 7 Revelation launches on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. But you're going to want to get your systems ready now because the download for the final showdown between Cloud and Sephiroth may be big. According to a September 18 VGC Interview with game director Naoki Hamaguchi, the file size for Revelation will "probably" be absolutely massive. With many of the games I own clocking in just at or well over 100GB (like The Elder Scrolls Online, Ghost of Yotei, Infinity Nikki, and Mortal Shell 2), I'm already debating with myself what games I delete to make room for Cloud's big sword and Sephiroth's shampoo collection.

Just when Zach Cregger couldn’t stir the pot any more before the release of his new film, Resident Evil, he chimed in on the long-standing debate over diverting to digital or sticking to physical media since PlayStation's big announcement that sent the gaming industry into an uproar. Surprisingly, the director of Weapons and the upcoming video game adaptation isn’t too fussed about keeping hold of discs in all their various forms, and it isn’t down to a matter of ease, but more so not trusting himself to keep track of them all. "I'm not a physical media guy," Cregger told IndieWire. Anyway, our biggest concern isn’t whether he's physical or not, but how well he's handled his version of Resident Evil, which hits theaters this week on September 18, 2026.
