Paradox Interactive has announced Cities: Skylines - Expanded Edition, a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Colossal Order's hit 2015 city-builder. While it's great to see Cities: Skylines make its way to a new platform, this announcement also serves as a reminder that we have no idea when the long-awaited console ports of Cities: Skylines 2 will come out. Cities: Skylines - Expanded Edition was developed by Tantalus Media, the team behind The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword's Switch port . It'll cost $49, include 10 expansions, expand the buildable area to 25 tiles, support keyboard and mouse, and add a map editor, plus better precision placement and environmental controls.
Cities: Skylines launched in pretty rough shape on Switch back in 2018. It has been a long wait in the years since for an improved experience on our beloved Nintendo hybrids, and later this month, it sounds like we're getting it. Cities: Skylines - Expanded Edition is set to launch on Switch 2 on 28th October , fully revamped for the console with updated performance, visuals and controls. This includes boosting buildable tile limits from the original nine to a beefy 25, performance/quality options (targeting 60fps and 30fps respectively), mouse mode implementation, and more.
LEGO Skylines is the new plastic city- builder from Cities: Skylines 2 and Surviving the Aftermath developers Iceflake Studios, published by Paradox Interactive. I've played an hour or so of a preview build, just long enough to devise a circular highway of coffee shops, glass-fronted houses, unaccountably cheerful farms, and playgrounds poking up haphazardly like fungus. Kind of like the M25, but more rustickal. There's a park in the middle that can't work out which century it's in, with an ornamental fountain every ten paces to baffle the casual stroller.
Wait, how did Lego beat Minecraft to making a city builder? The only thing more obvious than a Lego city builder is a Minecraft city builder. Lego announced a city builder called Lego Skylines last month and we all collectively said: "Oh yeah, duh." A landscape of colorful bricks snapping together into a metropolis from the godlike perspective we already view our real life Legos just makes sense. - The first generation of Minecraft players (me) are Old™ now and we can appreciate slower, strategic games - There are Minecraft mods for this, so players definitely like the idea - Minecraft already has several spinoffs in other genres (Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Legends) Maybe it doesn't?

As pretty as Cities: Skylines is, getting a read on your city's problems can take some digging. While traffic jams are immediately visible, prompting you to start reorganising the layout of your streets and bypasses, other issues only make themselves known when you switch on overlays or bring up a stats screen. Changing that is one developer Iceflake Studios aims for colourful plastic brick-based spinoff Lego Skylines. "If there's an issue, it should be visible in the world," game director Lasse Liljedahl tells me.
Lego Skylines is already looking like a treat, but I suspect the real magic's in the stuff Paradox won't talk about just yet Vorsprung durch Technic. How's this for an unhelpful opener: in a lot of ways, Lego Skylines is exactly what you think it is; but in others, it's probably not. Conceptually, it's a winner, of course - a city builder built with Lego! You've probably seen Lego Skylines' trailer, and the obvious assumption is that Paradox is pitching it as a sort of stripped down, ultra-accessible My First Cities Skylines (developer Iceflake, if you weren't aware, is the current steward of the franchise, following original studio Colossal Order's ousting amid a disastrous run for Cities Skylines 2).
All the key details about 'anime GTA' game Ananta Does whatever a (legally distinct) Spider(-Man) can. Ananta remained a mystery for many years, but it's finally got a solid 2027 release date. Ananta release date and (lack of) betas Ananta release date After years of no-showing at big events, it finally turned up to Gamescom's 2026 Opening Night Live to announce that Ananta is releasing on January 15, 2027 for PC, PS5, and mobile. Ananta gameplay details Our Ananta preview PC Gamer's Wes Fenlon went hands on with Ananta at Tokyo Game Show last year, and he thought that although Ananta is borrowing—or brazenly copying—a lot, that it "might have some wild-ass ideas of its own, too." He found the influences of the Batman Arkham games, Sleeping Dogs, Uncharted, and Spider-Man pretty clear, but they all worked well enough.
Hugely anticipated anime RPG Ananta gets a January release date, as pre-registrations hit a whopping 17m sign-ups Grand Theft Anime. Ananta, the free-to-play open-world game that looks a whole lot like Grand Theft Auto's urban sandbox got an anime makeover, finally has a release date. Publisher NetEase and China-based developer Naked Rain announced that Ananta is launching worldwide on 15th January, 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5 and mobile devices, years after it first debuted under the working title of Project Mugen. A snazzy new trailer also debuted at last night's Gamescom Opening Night Live show, showing off some giant skylines and, well, a bit of everything, really - open-world driving, cycling, skateboarding, flying, stealth, melee combat, in-game social media apps, a seemingly massive cast of characters, and an even more massive UFO that comes out of nowhere.

Состоялся анонс LEGO Skylines — градостроительного симулятора в духе Cities: Skylines На gamescom 2026 анонсировали LEGO Skylines — градостроительный симулятор в духе Cities: Skylines. Paradox Interactive and Iceflake Studios validated some recent leaks at Gamescom Opening Night Live by announcing Lego Skylines. As its title suggests, it's a spin-off of the city builder Cities: Skylines where everything is made out of Lego. A press release for Lego Skylines explains that the game will start on a single plot of land, allowing players to build and customize their house. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfBg8TQQrCQ After the rocky launch of Cities: Skylines 2, Iceflake Studios took over the development of that game from Colossal Order.
After months of rumors, Paradox Interactive has revealed that Lego Skylines is the real deal, with the city builder franchise's collab with Lego being revealed at Gamescom 2026. Back in May, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea (the nation's ratings board like PEGI or ESRB) rated a number of titles that are set to release in the near future ahead of their reveals at Summer Game Fest, like Persona 4 Revival, Ace Combat 8, Gears of War E-Day, and Castlevania: Belmont's Curse. However, nestled in there was an unannounced title from Paradox Interactive titled "Lego Skylines," with many putting two and two together that it would be a Lego version of its city builder franchise Cities Skylines. Developed by current Cities: Skylines 2 developer Iceflake Studios (the original developer Colossal Order stepped away from the franchise at the end of last year), Lego Skylines is pretty much exactly what you would expect: a cozy city builder game except this time with minifigs and bricks instead of… a different kind of bricks?
You probably don't need me to recap the difficult life Cities: Skylines 2 has had since hitting the streets in 2023. Plagued by performance issues and prompting questions over whether its additions made it a worthy sequel right out of the gate, thus followed years of tweaks aiming to undo the damage. Eventually, original developers Colossal Order handed over the game and series' reins to Iceflake Studios, with Paradox Interactive staying on as publishers. The latter two have now revealed the next game in the Skylines series - a brick-built city builder dubbed Lego Skylines.
