StarCraft is a narrative-driven shooter with 'a definitive ending' and 'not a seasonal game' The shooter will have a "beginning, middle, and end," according to StarCraft GM Dan Hay. Following the announcement of a new StarCraft game at BlizzCon's Opening Ceremony, GM and creative director Dan Hay (best known for Far Cry 3-6) spoke to Korean media about the open-world shooter. Based on Inven Global's transcript, it sounds like StarCraft will be a shooter along the lines of the Far Crys, though with a customizable lead character, and not a live service multiplayer game. 2026 games: All the upcoming games Best PC games: Our all-time favorites Free PC games: Freebie fest Best FPS games: Finest gunplay Best RPGs: Grand adventures Best co-op games: Better together Tyler grew up in Silicon Valley during the '80s and '90s, playing games like Zork and Arkanoid on early PCs.
The WoW 'Classic+' rumors were true: World of Warcraft: Forever promises to be another timeline's version of the MMO It's out soon, too, with a beta starting this week. The rumored game known to World of Warcraft fans as "Classic Plus" is real, and it has a proper name now—World of Warcraft: Forever is a new branch of the MMO that once again resets the clock to 2004, the year WoW first launched. Here are the biggest takeaways: - WoW: Forever will be set in the first year of WoW with a level cap of 60 "for the foreseeable future" - New stuff won't just be for max level players; it will span all levels - Three new zones - "Several" existing zones overhauled, "filling in the blank spaces of the vanilla map" - Nine new dungeons - Two new raids - New race: Skyborne Elves - New race/class combos: The trailer seems to show a Forsaken paladin, dwarf shaman, and orc mage It's a strategy reminiscent of Old School RuneScape, which treats the 2006 version of the MMO as a jumping-off point rather than a specimen to be preserved. World of Warcraft: Forever is covered by the pre-existing WoW subscription, but upgrade packs with features like the Skyborne race are available on Battle.net starting at $30.
Blizzard just dropped a new Warcraft 3 campaign, the first in 23 years The year of the surprise old game expansion. For the first time since its Frozen Throne expansion in 2003, Warcraft 3 is getting a new campaign. In a pre-brief before BlizzCon's opening ceremony, we learned that Warcraft 3: Forsaken Kingdom is a two-part campaign for Warcraft 3: Reforged, the 2020 remaster of the 2002 RTS. 2026 is now firmly the year of the surprise expansion to an old game: Forsaken Kingdom joins Thief Remastered: The Tarnished Mirror, Quake: Dawn of the Machine, and The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past in this strange new category.

Capcom expresses continued interest in 're-activating IPs' as the first new Onimusha game in 20 years surpasses 1 million sales on launch day Onimusha: Way of the Sword's launch day success has propelled the series to 10 million lifetime sales, says Capcom. Samurai adventure Onimusha: Way of the Sword notched over a million sales on its launch day, Capcom has announced. The success is deserved, per our reviewer Wes, who said that Way of the Sword "whips ass" in his 83/100 review. It's become a cliche to say that Capcom's on a bit of a run lately, but here's yet another mile marker in the developer's 2020s streak, which has included a pair of well-liked Resident Evil remakes, two new Resident Evil games, Monster Hunter Rise and Wilds, Pragmata, Street Fighter 6, and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, among other games.
Something has caused the banished and shunned Hagewashi to return from the plains, risking the ire of their former Tengu brethren. Can they find a place again in the Jwar Isles, or are their ways after their banishment now too extreme? We've been covering Bushido for years, so if you'd like to learn more about the game, check out our guide to Bushido Risen Sun, our review of the Bushido Risen Sun 2-player starter set, and our "Start Collecting" guide to Bushido, which includes an interview with the game's developer. For example, the Descension is a faction for Bushido, and Outcasts Defiant is a theme card that restricts you to Outcasts, Birds, Ronin Birds, Plainsmen and Ronin Plainsmen fighters, but gives them all Camouflage (4 inches), which protets them from ranged and charges whilst in cover if the enemy is more than 4 inches away, and an increasing amount of healing as enemy fighters are taken out.
The future of GTA roleplaying remains in GTA 5 for now, as Rockstar touts new invite-only Nopixel V RP server Rockstar collaborated with Nopixel Studios for the latest version of its custom GTA 5 roleplaying experience, which includes 1,000 ownable properties. Rockstar announced today that Nopixel V is "the next evolution of the GTA 5 roleplay community," which has led to some head-scratching from casual GTA RP followers (like myself), because Nopixel V isn't something you or I can just jump into and play. Nopixel Studios runs both public and private GTA 5 roleplaying servers, and Nopixel V is the latest version of its modded sandbox. The Nopixel V beta was developed in collaboration with Rockstar, and will be accessible through the Rockstar Games Launcher, but only for invited streamers, a list of whom can be found on the Nopixel website.
Humankind 2 trailer accused of being 'AI slop,' studio says nope: 'real actors, practical sets, and custom-made props' The uncanny trailer shows the perspective of infants through space and time. Humankind 2 was announced today at Gamescom's Opening Night Live showcase, and I have to admit that I was among those who raised an eyebrow at the announcement trailer and wondered: Is this AI generated? A number of commenters speculated that it was. "The Humankind 2 live-action announcement trailer was filmed at Nu Boyana Film Studios in Sofia using real actors, practical sets, and custom-made props created specifically for the production," developer Amplitude Studios told PC Gamer over email.
The Witcher 3 Remastered announced: another huge free update, and all Witcher 3 owners get the existing expansions free The update isn't just graphical, and it's out in September. The Witcher 3 got a "Next-Gen Update" back in 2022, and CD Projekt Red is doing it again: The developer announced at Gamescom today that The Witcher 3 Remastered is coming September 29 as a free update for all owners of the RPG. Aside from graphical updates (of which there are many), The Witcher 3 Remastered makes changes to combat, movement, Roach riding, monster behaviors, the skill tree, and the photo mode. The kicker: Alongside the update, owners of The Witcher 3 will also get its two expansions, Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone, free if they don't already own them.
Next big D&D game fully revealed with lengthy gameplay trailer Warlock gameplay is bringing me back to the mid-2000s. Baldur's Gate 3 is a tough act to follow. Larian has moved on from the D&D license to return to its own Divinity world, and it remains to be seen what kind of CPRG follow-up Wizards of the Coast can muster. In the meantime, the next big D&D game doesn't try for the BG3 throne: Developer Invoke is instead, to my eyes, channeling the 2000s boom of immersive sim-ish action games like The Darkness, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and Infamous.
Rockstar employees frustrated by GTA 6 leaks, though they may have only whet appetites for the reveal The increased security measures following the 2022 hack didn't stop another major leak of GTA 6 gameplay. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reports that some Rockstar employees are feeling "angry" and "frustrated" that, despite submitting to strict security measures following the 2022 hack that revealed Grand Theft Auto 6 to the world—namely the abolishment of remote work—a leak has once again sprung. Someone going by the name "Cyberleek" has been posting new GTA 6 gameplay clips every day for the past few days. GTA 6 editions: What's included at each price point GTA 6 cars: The known garage lineup GTA 6 guns: Confirmed arsenal so far Which isn't to say that Cyberleek is likely to escape consequence: Rockstar is presently trying to track them down, and has filed subpoenas with Microsoft and Discord related to the videos.
More GTA 6 leaks reveal new details: Cloning keys, combat changes, random bird deaths The latest purported GTA 6 gameplay videos show Jason committing more senseless murder, and reveal even more gameplay systems. Two legit-looking Grand Theft Auto 6 video clips were posted online yesterday by a person or group going by "Cyberleek," and now the same leaker has posted another two clips and the DMCA takedown notices are flying once again. The first of the new clips shows a player stealing a cop's motorcycle, driving it into a river, and then casually murdering the inhabitants of an encampment under a freeway. Zombix The player uses what appears to be a healing item called "Zombix" and is warned that "repeated use of Zombix will temporarily have a weaker effect on your health." 2026 games: All the upcoming games Best PC games: Our all-time favorites Free PC games: Freebie fest Best FPS games: Finest gunplay Best RPGs: Grand adventures Best co-op games: Better together Tyler grew up in Silicon Valley during the '80s and '90s, playing games like Zork and Arkanoid on early PCs.
GTA 6 leaks show a game that looks like more GTA, but not a revolution It sure doesn't look like the reinvention of the wheel(s). The exciting thing about Rockstar games is not that they have the most advanced technology behind them, the best stories, or the most avant-garde game systems. It's the extraordinary amount of work the studio invests into the little details that make up its big worlds. Take-Two won't reveal raw GTA 6 preorder numbers because it doesn't know what they mean: 'It's just never happened before' The publisher says it isn't sure how to interpret GTA 6's 'astonishing' preorder sales. Even though we still haven't seen a gameplay trailer, Grand Theft Auto 6's pre-release sales have been "unprecedented," according to publisher Take-Two. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier recently posed that question to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, who said that the volume of GTA 6 preorders is so unprecedented that they "can't tell whether they mean anything." Specifically, Take-Two is unsure whether the preorder count can be used to accurately estimate GTA 6's total launch sales based on established wisdom, or if it's such an outlier that established wisdom doesn't apply, and people who'd normally wait to buy the game after launch are opting to preorder. GTA 6's Netflix deal forces us to ask: can you pirate an advertisement? Just when you thought videogame marketing couldn't get sillier, people are going to wind up stealing a trailer. Let's be real, come August 27, the Grand Theft Auto 6 "extended look" is not going to be exclusive to Netflix for six hours as advertised. It certainly doesn't reinforce Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick's claim that GTA 6 is an "incredible bargain" at $80-$100.
Big Walk patch addresses voice volume complaints with restraint: 'We consider it an important part of the game's design that you can only hear players who are close to you' A new update "makes quiet voices louder overall," but doesn't let you hear players from farther away. Fantastic new puzzle game Big Walk drew some early complaints over the volume of its proximity voice chat, which was too quiet for some players and mic setups, and developer House House has now released a patch that it hopes will resolve the issue while respecting the spirit of the game. The studio has a fine line to walk, because Big Walk's primary source of friction is the challenge of communicating over distances. 30 years after it 'ruined id Software,' Quake gets another big update while the studio once again grapples with adversity New levels from MachineGames and archival development material have been added to the id Software classic in a free update. Just a smidge over 30 years after its original release date, Quake just got a big update. MachineGames has added a new chapter to id Software's landmark 1996 successor to the Doom games, dubbed Dawn of the Machine. The creative process on display is decidedly relatable, with level names like "Tim" "Tim10A," and "Tim14," and notes like, "Lots of tight hallways make navigation tough, and similarly there are many dead ends that were not completed, so it is not entirely clear what the idea was." The update was revealed at QuakeCon today in a panel which included id Software co-founder John Romero, who noted with laughter that the announcement was occurring not on the 30th anniversary of Quake, which released in June of 1996, but on the 30th anniversary of the day he left id Software.
'Deck de France' is a new free software that can turn your bike trainer into a controller for your Steam Deck And it even kinda works with Rocket League. If you've ever felt like your bike trainer has a disturbing lack of Rocket League or Forza Horizon, you are in luck. Shared on GitHub (via Hackaday), Deck de France is technically compatible with any smart trainer that broadcasts Cycling Power Service over Bluetooth Low Energy. That means it can work with the following devices: - Tacx — NEO, NEO 2T, Flux, Bushido, Vortex, Satori, Booster - Elite — Suito-T, Justo, Direto, Drivo, Rampa, Sterzo Smart (steering plate) - Wahoo — KICKR, KICKR Core (broadcasts CPS — untested but should work) - Zwift Hub / Zwift Hub One (broadcasts CPS — untested but should work) - CycleOps — Magnus, H3 (broadcasts CPS — untested but should work) - Garmin — Vector 3 power meter pedals - Magene — S3+ Speed/Cadence sensor - Power meters — Any BLE power meter pedals or crank-based meters (4iiii, Stages, Favero, etc.) Effectively, the app can translate your pedalling power into actions.
Has 'Xbox 360 brown' nostalgia finally arrived? Mid-2000s grittiness may be due a comeback. Will anyone ever reminisce fondly about the 2026 Toyota Camry? Tyler grew up in Silicon Valley during the '80s and '90s, playing games like Zork and Arkanoid on early PCs.
Zach Cregger may have made the best Resident Evil movie yet, but a faction of fans aren't happy about it The latest reboot of the Resident Evil movie series is taking some heat for not looking Resident Evil-ey enough. I'm in such a bubble of positivity for Barbarian and Weapons director Zach Cregger's upcoming Resident Evil movie (out September 18) that I had no idea anyone was upset about it until I looked at the reactions to some of PC Gamer's coverage. The movie is Resident Evil "in name and nothing else," one person wrote in reply to one of our social media posts. As it turns out, some Resident Evil fans are unhappy that the film doesn't directly adapt any of the games, that it takes liberties with the setting—there were no iPhones or snow-covered streets in Resident Evil 2—and that it 'doesn't look like Resident Evil.' It's true that the first trailer (embedded above) doesn't scream 'Resident Evil,' though I assume that's by design.
