Few games have changed the trajectory of their respective series quite like Monster Hunter World, one of the biggest smash hits Capcom has ever created. World was a vibrant, expansive, and ambitious leap that paid off in spades. It makes sense, then, that eight years later the series would still be chasing that high. Even with the time that's passed, I find myself amazed that Monster Hunter Outlanders, essentially, manages to cram the experience of World into a mobile game.
Our Verdict Modern Warfare 4 is the bar that this series should regularly aspire to, and a reminder that Call of Duty benefits when it actually tries to change. PC Gamer's got your back There is a new game titled "Call of Duty" every year, but it's not every year that Call of Duty is really back. What is it The next Call of Duty from the original creators of Call of Duty Release date October 23, 2026 Expect to pay $70/£60 Publisher Activision Blizzard Developer Infinity Ward Reviewed on RTX 5090, Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz, 64GB RAM Multiplayer Up to 60 players Steam Deck Unsupported Link Official site The tireless schedule of Activision's load-bearing FPS has resulted in more bad games than good as of late—Modern Warfare 3 was an expansion-sized sequel rushed out the door, Black Ops 6 was a step back for multiplayer, and its immediate followup Black Ops 7 was clocked as superfluous and uninteresting even by rain-or-shine fans. These back-to-back games, shouldered by Treyarch, Sledgehammer, and Raven, had cracks and compromises that suggested the Call of Duty machine just can't keep up with both "good" and "fast" anymore.

Stupid Never Dies makes a strong, if extremely weird, first impression. Wrapping roguelite progression around the system of an action-RPG and setting that story in an inventive punk-inspired world of monsters is an inviting hook. Plus, it's hard not to feel some affection for the dimwitted hero and his undoubtedly creepy quest to revive the supposed love of his afterlife. But the inventive world and a few neat ideas can only carry this game so far, and I ultimately struggled to look past the repetitive and often imprecise combat.

Endless pile of Needle In Haystack games begins to emerge, as viral hit imitator's devs claim their code was nicked by a genAI-using clone Stacking up In a metaphor far too on the nose to turn into any form of fiction, at least without the writer getting mercilessly cyberbullied, a game about finding a needle in a haystack has now become the genuine needle at the heart of a pile of imitators. A pile so large, in fact, one copycat game stands accused of ripping code from another. NoGlyph, developers of Needle In A Haystack, have claimed that their code's been nicked by A Game About Needle In A Haystack devs Little Field Studios. "Yesterday, on October 16th a game called 'A Game About Needle In A Haystack' by Little Field Studios came out on Steam," a Needle In A Haystack dev called Jahvin wrote in a Steam post over the weekend.

The AI bubble may not have burst yet, but $1 trillion worth of air appears to have escaped Not so much 'going out with a bang' as 'anticlimactic party balloon deflation'. For instance, Nvidia has seen a decrease of about 8% over the last five days—and this AI company is far from the only one seeing such a dip. Over the last five days, we've seen share prices fall by 13% for AMD, and nearly 15% for Intel. Looking more broadly across the AI and semiconductor industries, CNBC reports 20 of the most valuable players have shed more than $1 trillion in value as investors sell off stock.
No matter what your opinion is on the art style, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is shaping up to be a brilliant remake Song of rebirth. I honestly can't tell you how many times I've completed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, let alone how many hours I've spent in its bucolic version of Hyrule. Though, when I told my Mum about the upcoming remake she said, 'Oh the one with the music,' in a tone I've decided to interpret as delight. Star Wars: Galactic Racer feels like a game out of time. The kind of spin-off game that flooded the franchise in the 2000s. This is elevated further by Fuse Games, which is made up of former Burnout devs, helming the project. A love letter to the Guitar Hero X-Plorer Controller Simply the best. I was part way through an expert run of 'Through the Fire and the Flames' by Dragonforce on Guitar Hero 3 at a friend's house for their birthday, and I remember thinking to myself, 'I don't think I'll ever top this'. As the song came to an end and I revelled in my passing grade, I got at least one nod of approval from the group before they slunk off to do what actually cool 16-year-olds do when presented with a free house and no adults around: smoke a big joint. Or the many nights tapping along to My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Guns N' Roses, Black Sabbath, Rage Against the Machine with my friend James as we drank too many Relentless energy drinks, shredding the solo in Free Bird into the night.

Fright Train is the best Call of Duty Zombies alternative I've played in ages, despite starring a dog Resident Beagle There's been a wave of furry horror games with surprisingly elaborate tactical simulation elements, and when I say "wave", I mean that I'm aware of two. One is Casualties: Unknown, a 2D misericore spelunking experience with an injury system so byzantine it took Oisin multiple paragraphs to work out how to die. The other, somewhat nicer game is Fright Train, a swish B-movie survival shooter in which you are a literal dog soldier, the magnificent Doug Barker. Doug has many problems, though sadly not 99 so I can't do an Ice-T reference here.
