Blizzard say Battle.net isn't looking to fight Steam and Epic for supermassive storefront supremacy, despite recently nabbing The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 "It's a much more focused approach" No siree. It's arguably a bit of a weird thing for a publisher with Diablo and World of Warcraft in their arsenal to say, but that's the stance Blizzard are sticking to with their storefront Battle.net, even though it now boasts two big CD Projekt Red RPGs. "We're obviously not out there trying to do the Steam or Epic Game Store thing," Blizzard senior vice president Andrew Guerrero told Polygon in an interview at this year's BlizzCon, where the company announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will be joining The Witcher 3's upcoming remaster on Battle.net. Read this next - The Witcher Remake is currently on the back burner because progress on it depends on The Witcher 4's development, CD Projekt Red confirm - Cyberpunk 2077 launched when it did because its devs wanted it "out the door" says CD Projekt Red CEO, but I wonder if he forgot about that reported mandatory crunch - The Witcher 3 Remastered includes work from a top modder, as CD Projekt Red follow the path they walked with the RPG's next-gen update
CD Projekt has revealed that The Witcher Remake from Fool’s Theory is currently on the back burner as the studio works on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Songs of the Past expansion and awaits some of The Witcher 4's technological innovations. Joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski mentioned roadblocks for the project in an interview with The Game Business . They were supposed to work on The Witcher 1 [remake], but we realized that needed a bit more time because of certain technology dependencies with The Witcher 4,” Nowakowski revealed. Our goal is to have the necessary assets, tools, and pipelines ready for more efficient development of The Witcher Remake.” In a Q3 2025 earnings call Q&A, Nowakowski reiterated this by stating, “the majority of the team is currently involved in the other project [Songs of the Past], and also support for The Witcher 4, so there is some limited team working on TW1, but since it’s very much tied with TW4 development…for TW1 per se, it’s a smaller group of people.” The Witcher 1’s remake does not have a release window at this time, but from Nowakowski's comments, it seems likely it won’t arrive until after The Witcher 3 Remastered later this month, Songs of the Past in 2027, and The Witcher 4 in 2028.

PS2 console vs emulation Original PS2 console Easily play physical games Standardised performance Hardware compatibility Native controller support Natural, unaltered 480i visuals Requires adapters/upscalers for modern screens Emulation Play at higher resolutions Let's you play on handhelds Perks like save states, fast-forwarding, and texture packs Controller mapping for USB pads Saves you from messing with discs Susceptible to bugs, glitches, and performance caveats Don't worry, I'm going to delve into the ins and outs of using original PS2 hardware and DIY solutions. These days, you're looking at around $100 for an original "fat" model or up to $120 for the slim model, typically with a controller and the cords, on eBay in the US, while the UK site has listings for under £30. Therefore, I would advise spending a little more on something like a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or beefier, like the Retroid Pocket 5 or Mangmi Pocket Max, as you'll then have room to play with x2 or x3 scaling.
You should really get Ace Combat 7 while it's 80% off on Steam, because AC8 might be one of the year's best games Now this is dogfighting. Here are some other things I like with Ace Combat 7 vibes: 🔹Game: Zone of the Enders 2: The Second Runner 🔹Anime: Macross Plus 🔹Anime: Area 88 While the planes are all intricately modeled and the game's interface has a sort of militaristic seriousness to it, the tone of Ace Combat is gloriously melodramatic. AC7's current Steam deal ends in the next 22 hours of this writing, and is $15 (£12) including a Top Gun Maverick DLC tie-in with a bunch of cool planes—though heads up that using them early in the campaign will trivialize some of the challenge. You can get a Steam key even cheaper elsewhere, though: Fanatical has the base game on sale for just $8.69 (86% off) for the next 11 days.

It’s always a pleasure to write about Frostpunk , but I’m glum that Frostpunk has boarded the Great Videogame Remaking Train. I don’t think the original Frostpunk is beyond improvement, but I do find it very complete. Chilly finitude, obsessive symmetry are its narrative ethos and aesthetic. It’s a three-act story in a genre that tends to be exhaustingly open-ended.
