Those years of Valve’s benign neglect of VR make the imminent release of the $1,059 Steam Frame—which starts taking reservations today—more than a little surprising. The Frame even sports fancy extras like eye-tracking for effective foveated rendering in the center of your vision and an SD card slot for expanded storage (you can also splurge for a $1,299 Frame version that upgrades the internal storage from 256GB to 1TB). But the relatively weak Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor in the Frame means the games are limited to relatively undemanding 2D titles or older 3D titles (Portal 2, anyone?) Even a game like Returnal, which can hit a “Playable” 30 fps on the aging Steam Deck, managed a paltry 9 fps in benchmarks on the Frame at 720p “Low” graphics settings. Late to the party For most players, it’s hard to recommend the $1,049 Steam Frame over a $599 Meta Quest 3 (or even a $349 Quest 3S for the more budget-minded).
Earlier this year, Old Skull Games and Dotemu announced Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster. A game where you play Vihneek, a Skaven assassin working their way through Skavendom to work his way to the top. We got to go hands-on with a short build of the start of the game, and I couldn't help but be disappointed when I wasn't able to play any more of it. Warhammer Age of Sigmar Deathmaster starts with Vihneek in a precarious position.
While Halloween is drawing nearer, the clock is ticking before Epic Games reveals this year's Fortnitemares event, which will carry Fortnite through spooky season with haunting new skins, bosses, weapons, and points of interest on the map. Until that drops, though, there is another way to get your Fortnitemares fix if you happen to be visiting Universal Studios in Orlando or Hollywood. Guests are dropped into the middle of Freaky Fields, a Fortnitemares location from the past two years (Chapter 5, Season 4 and Chapter 6, Season 4) during a battle royale round. Previous Fortnitemares events have included skins of The Grabber (Black Phone), Michael Myers (Halloween), Billy the Puppet (Saw), and Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th), all Horror Nights legends in their own right.
Okay, I wasn't expecting 'Rainbow Six XCOM' to be one of my favourite Gamescom demos And yet, here we are. Hard experience has taught me that I am not, in my heart, a Rainbow Six Siege guy. The series' hardcore-ish squad-based first-person gameplay just never jibed with me going all the way back to 1998, when a five-year-old Josh got shot to death by eco-terrorists in about 0.3 seconds and promptly decided to play something else. 2026 games: All the upcoming games Best PC games: Our all-time favorites Free PC games: Freebie fest Best FPS games: Finest gunplay Best RPGs: Grand adventures Best co-op games: Better together One of Josh's first memories is of playing Quake 2 on the family computer when he was much too young to be doing that, and he's been irreparably game-brained ever since.

We've got a new update coming to Halo: Campaign Evolved at some point over the next few days, and the folks over at Halo Studios have already revealed the five main highlights that will be featured as part of it. Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to receive its first major patch next week, one that will give players more control over the game's visuals as well as make improvements to Jackals and Sgt. As outlined by the Halo Support X account , a patch coming sometime next week will fix a few pain points for players of Halo Studios' remake. The franchise's compilation package, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, released over a decade ago and contains almost the entirety of the Halo franchise, including online multiplayer, and can be bought for $40 at the high end or much cheaper when on sale. When compared to Halo: Campaign Evolved, which only features the first game's campaign, no multiplayer, and retails for $50, it's not hard to see why some players decided this was a fight that didn't need finishing.
Halo: Campaign Evolved studio outlines five key updates that'll drop with next week's big patch Playing with your Flood. There's a new update coming to Halo: Campaign Evolved next week. The patch, which is targeting some of the biggest issues players have had with the game since its launch a few weeks ago, will arrive sometime between 17th August and 21st August (no fixed date has been announced yet). Despite reviewing well, Halo: Campaign Evolved has failed to sell particularly well on PS5, where the low-effort Black Ops 1 and 2 ports seemingly outsold the Microsoft title 16-to-1.

Gears of War: E-Day is Microsoft's next big exclusive, and as you'd expect, a limited-edition Xbox wireless controller has been announced for the game. Fans will also have the option to design their own controller, as the Xbox Design Lab has been updated with a new Emergence Day-themed skin. Priced at $90, the Gears of War: E-Day controller draws inspiration from the holes that the Locust spewed from on E-Day, as the design features cracked asphalt and the iconic Crimson Omen that builds up when you're nearly dead in the Gears games. https://youtu.be/QOpgB3iEywM Beyond that, this is your standard Xbox wireless controller, which was first introduced in November 2020 with the Xbox Series X|S.

The iconic skeletal knight and one of my personal favorite video game characters of all time is part of a new Console Heroes diorama, which simultaneously appeared and was marked as "sold out" at Target for $24.99 (Target), despite not yet being on sale. I'm well aware that there's a MediEvil Funko Pop available, and it's still $40.77 at Amazon, but that's pretty pricey, and I'm not a fan of Pop figures in any shape or form. However, a quick search of X (Twitter) reveals users like @asashii29 posted on July 30, 2026 that they were able to pre-order it for just $15, so stock might be gone for now.
"I learnt a tonne about enamel pin manufacturing" – Brigador developer Stellar Jockeys on the secrets of selling video game merchandise Studio head Hugh Monahan tells us why T-shirts and posters are a bad idea, why pins are a solid bet, and why it's a bad time to be selling lighters internationally Since the indie boom of the 2010s, one piece of advice commonly given to smaller studios has been the value of merchandise. The logic broadly goes as follows: game development is a risky business, and even if your game is a success, it's not uncommon for the studio to still struggle financially. "Some of our merch packs are between $25 and $35, but our first game, which took ages to make, can be bought on sale for $5." The lesson: people will happily pay more money for "a physical, tangible thing." Legislative battles Selling merchandise hasn't been entirely smooth sailing, with lessons learned about what type of product will sell and how exactly it should be brought to market. "I would rather spend $10,000 making some cool merch and selling it, even if we're not making a profit off of it between the labour and cost of goods, because [it results in] a cool piece that someone has on their desk.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is finally out in the wild, and I can't get enough of it. Despite getting very early access weeks before launch, I still find myself hopping on to replay the campaign, remix levels, try out new Skull modifiers, and have a laugh with friends. The remake feels like a proper refresh for Halo Studios and a solid foundation to build upon for the future entries in the series - as well as more remakes! This is the most fun I've had with a Halo campaign in quite some time, and it'll keep me satisfied until Gears: E-Day arrives later this year.

Wizards of the Coast president is stepping down after just 2 years on the job John Hight's looming departure was revealed just a week after Hasbro took a $56 million impairment arising from cancelled videogame projects. Former Warcraft general manager John Hight, who left Blizzard in 2024 and became president of Wizards of the Coast—a position that gave him oversight of "all publishing and development efforts for Magic the Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, and Hasbro Digital Gaming"—is leaving the company after just two years. Hight's looming departure comes in the shadow of videogame turmoil at Hasbro, which just a week ago recorded a $56 million impairment arising from the cancellation of several videogame projects that had been slated to release "in 2028 and beyond." Specifics weren't revealed at the time but one known cancellation is the D&D game that was being developed by Stig Asmussen's Giant Skull studio; a big-budget GI Joe game announced in 2021 also appears to be in trouble, although Hasbro said earlier this year that it has not been cancelled. Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons continue to perform incredibly well, consistent with our most recent earnings release, and our upcoming 2027 videogame slate, including Exodus and Warlock remains on track." Wizards is now "launching an internal and external search for John's successor." 2026 games: All the upcoming games Best PC games: Our all-time favorites Free PC games: Freebie fest Best FPS games: Finest gunplay Best RPGs: Grand adventures Best co-op games: Better together Andy has been gaming on PCs from the very beginning, starting as a youngster with text adventures and primitive action games on a cassette-based TRS80.
The ever-present danger of attempting to bring a new chapter in a revered series from the past and offending an entire fanbase in the process should not be something taken lightly by developers. In recent years within the shmup genre , we have seen such attempts fizzle for revered franchises like R-Type , Raiden , and Aerofighters Assault , mostly because the pixel-perfect originals are simply timeless and offer precise controls, something that seems to evade most of these reboots and sequels. Enter Tatsujin Co., still going strong with plenty of Toaplan DNA left in their ranks. Will this brand-new entry bring Truxton back to the spotlight or end up a blemish on a series known for its iconic skull-shaped smart bombs?
