Major League Baseball's collective bargaining agreement with the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) ends on December 1, 2026. A new agreement has to be reached prior to the start of the 2027 season the following spring, and as it stands, there are some very big sticking points in negotiations, particularly around the topic of a salary cap. Should a new agreement not be made prior to the season, we're looking at a lockout, with owners refusing to give players access to their facilities, as we briefly saw back in 2022 . Like with many Hollywood productions, The Last of Us had a tumultuous, long development period as a movie before it was ultimately abandoned in favor of what is now a hit series. The original movie pitch People across X recently discovered a post from Sony Pictures in 2014 declaring that The Last of Us was "soon to be a major motion picture." This was a real, studio-sponsored image, not a fan mock-up. Williams, who was 17 at the time, also joked at the time that she hoped Sony would make the movie quickly because, "If they make it in 30 years, they can't have a 40-year-old Ellie." Kaitlyn Dever was also considered for the role of Ellie in the film , and, spoiler alert: Dever would go on to play Ellie's adversary, Abby, in the HBO TV show.

Tencent's ambitious attempt to build a rival to Grand Theft Auto appears to be floundering, as Last Sentinel developer Lightspeed LA has laid off 80 people following the publisher's loss of confidence in the project. If you're not familiar with Last Sentinel, that would be forgivable. The cyberpunk open world has been in development for six years and was announced at The Game Awards in 2023. But doubts began to circulate about the state of the Last Sentinel after a suite of promotional videos published last year failed to show any footage of the game itself.

A new God of War game starring dad of war Kratos is already in development at Sony Santa Monica, and it's set to tie in to the events of the upcoming God of War Laufey quite deeply. Speaking during a San Diego Comic-Con panel attended by GamesRadar+, Sony Santa Monica creative lead Cory Barlog seemingly slips up and mentions that he was recently chatting with "the director of the next Kratos game earlier this week about all the different things that are going on - oh, f***, did I just announce the next Kratos game?" The Kratos-led God of War game didn't receive a title, an estimated launch window, target platforms, or any firm details, but Barlog did offer some light information: "Kratos is in another game immediately after this [that] directly connects to the events of the Laufey game, but don't say anything about it to anyone," he quips. With San Diego Comic-Con kicking off this weekend, Hot Toys has unveiled several new sixth-scale figures, including a Luna Snow collectible that's going to make Marvel Rivals fans very happy. This is the first sixth-scale Marvel Rivals figure from the company, and like all of its other collectibles in this line, it's an impressive-looking replica of the South Korean K-Pop idol turned cryokinetic superhero. There's no release date or pricing yet, but Hot Toys usually announces these figures with a minimum of a year's lead time and a retail price of around $300 through vendors like Sideshow Collectibles. Other figures coming from Hot Toys include a monstrous Alien Queen from Aliens, an intimidating Savage Hulk from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a quarter-scale replica of The Dark Knight's Joker, and a whole lot of Kamen Riders.

Unfortunately, as often happens, the streamer that was in talks to bring the Head Lopper anime to screens wound up fading away through numerous mergers and changes in ownership, leaving Head Lopper by the wayside.
