More than four years after New Delhi banned Free Fire over national security concerns, Garena has brought the popular battle royale game back to India with a localized version. On Wednesday, Garena launched the localized version, called Free Fire India, as a stand-alone game available on Android and iOS. Mobile game downloads in the country grew 14.2% quarter-over-quarter to 2 billion in Q2, while revenue rose 3.7% to more than $106 million, per Sensor Tower. Garena’s Free Fire MAX has also maintained a presence in India’s esports scene, with Indian teams including S8UL Esports, Apex Gaming, and Total Gaming competing at the Esports World Cup 2026.
Roblox users rebuilt Counter-Strike, Left 4 Dead 2, and a PS4 menu on the platform without asking permission. Roblox has always collected knockoffs, but in September it pushed the official route, expanding its licensing platform so creators could use established brands and share revenue with rights holders. Roblox clones now include “1:1” recreations of Counter-Strike and Left 4 Dead 2 YouTuber KreekCraft lit the fuse on October 27 by sharing a clip from another YouTuber, SirDapper, showing PlayStation games running inside Roblox. In KreefCraft’s post comments, players also flagged Left 4 Survival 2, a “1:1” fan-made Left 4 Dead 2 recreation unaffiliated with Valve.
