I went into my hands-on session with Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember expecting to hate it. That probably isn't the sort of sentence Team Ninja wants associated with its upcoming action-RPG, but it's an important one. I've never been great at souls-likes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRdejhi9Oew The sequel to 2023's Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is still built around fast, demanding martial-arts combat, with deflection remaining a crucial part of surviving encounters.
Exodus lets you do polyamory, but the Mass Effect-like RPG's companions won't all be happy about it
We chat with Overwatch's game director Aaron Keller and associate game director Alec Dawson about the game's 10 year anniversary, its latest hero Doctrine, and we learn that Tracer used to have laser eyes?
Wait, there were initially HOW MANY protagonists? Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is almost upon us. The game launches later this week on 17th September , and to drum up one last little bit of hype, Nintendo has released a new Ask the Developer interview , going behind the scenes with Intelligent Systems on the latest series entry. The interview contains all sorts of interesting tidbits about the game's development, but there was one note that really stood out to us as we were reading it: its hero roster was initially even bigger.
My Hero Academia: All’s Justice feels like a release meant for folks keeping up with the series, especially now that the Switch 2 version is here.

One of the big announcements at BlizzCon was WoW Forever , the next iteration of offering a classic-style WoW experience. Blizzard is hoping to draw players back to the OG WoW in a number of ways, including with the introduction of 1,000+ new quests. GameSpot caught up with Blizzard senior game designer Josh Greenfield to discuss this, along with why the game's OG quests--from 22 years ago--still resonate today. However, players can buy the $80 Warcraft Forever Collection to receive the new Skyborne race, beta access, and early name reservation for WoW Forever.
If early iterations of characters had survived the development process, Tracer could have been a very different Overwatch hero. Speaking to GameSpot at BlizzCon 2026 , game director Aaron Keller mentioned that he had been playing Overwatch since 2013, "since Tracer was shooting lasers out of her eyes." When questioned about such a strange sequence of words, Keller explained that the bizarre version of Tracer came from the first days of Overwatch's engine development in late 2013. "When we were creating the Overwatch engine, you know, so this is late 2013, the first day we got Tracer in we all ran around but we didn't actually have a projectile system yet," he added. "So when you would fire, just like straight out of her eyes, [it was] two red lines." There weren't even any proper visual effects involved at that point.
Game Freak has announced a new laundry-based mobile game with Pokemon director Shigeru Ohmori leading this project. Obviously, Game Freak is best known for the Pokemon series, and until the recent release of Beast of Reincarnation, I wouldn't have been shocked if many people just didn't know the studio regularly releases games outside the franchise. For console releases, these usually manifest as smaller titles like HarmoKnight, Little Town Hero, and Tembo the Badass Elephant, but, as of late, the studio has released mobile games fairly frequently. And this week it was revealed what's next for the studio before Pokemon Winds and Waves releases next year, with the announcement of "Ame no Chi Hare Onna." The game – co-developed by Chronogate – is a free-to-play mobile game for iOS and Android in Japan, described as a "laundry game." It's directed by Ohmori, who has been the lead director of the Pokemon series since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire over a decade ago.
Blizzard explains why it's revealing StarCraft and Diablo 5 release dates so far away: "We want to convey confidence in some of our biggest bets" "We're a Blizzard that's going to ship, and ship big, and ship on time." Blizzard uncharacteristically announced two games at the weekend with release dates surprisingly far away. One was Diablo 5, which Blizzard plans to release in spring 2029, and the other was the much-rumoured StarCraft open-world shooter, releasing 2030. There was more than a decade between the releases of Diablos 2 and 3, but there will be only six years between 4 and 5 (which has caused concern about whether there will be any more Diablo 4 expansions). Besides Diablo 5, the StarCraft shooter, and World of Warcraft Forever, Blizzard also announced a Diablo Netflix animated series - alongside broader plans to do similar with many of its brands - a brand new Warcraft 3 campaign decades after the game's release, a new Overwatch hero (and tease of what to expect in next year's big expansion-like release), a new Diablo 4 class, and outlined the next big patch for World of Warcraft's Midnight era.
Diablo 5 will fully support multiplayer, but Blizzard won't say how similar to Diablo 4 it'll be The 2029 action RPG won't have to be a completely solo experience, Blizzard says. Diablo 5 may be set in a lonely world ravaged by a demon lord, but you'll still be able to team up with your friends like in previous Diablo games. Senior game director Joe Shely confirmed that Diablo 5 will fully support multiplayer in a group interview with PC Gamer: "Like Diablo 4, it is a game that you can play solo or multiplayer, however you please, and you should be able to play all of the content with your friends." Specific details about multiplayer, like if you can run into other players in the open world like you can in Diablo 4's endgame, weren't mentioned. 2026 games: All the upcoming games Best PC games: Our all-time favorites Free PC games: Freebie fest Best FPS games: Finest gunplay Best RPGs: Grand adventures Best co-op games: Better together Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.
You heard it here first, folks: Tracer is still the face of Overwatch, despite not being featured in many major collaborations or promotional materials as of late. We got the chance to sit down with the minds behind Overwatch at Blizzcon 2026 to discuss the game’s newest support hero, Doctrine, and the future of the franchise — as well as grill them about Tracer’s role as its supposed mascot. When you think about Overwatch, you probably think of Tracer. She was essentially the star of the show when the game first launched in 2016, and was consistently featured in marketing materials, merchandise, advertisements, and more.
Since its inception, Overwatch has positioned itself as an optimistic, science-fiction-driven world. Although some characters have introduced an element of the fantastical--the addition of the magical Wuxing University being the most notable tonal shift--the team behind the hero shooter has always prioritized scientific explanations for its heroes incredible abilities. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gK877kcyMTY Revealed during BlizzCon 2026's opening ceremony , Doctrine is the next support hero coming to Overwatch. In addition to his sceptre, Doctrine can also unleash a swarm of bat drones, infuse allies, and "manipulate life force." Blizzard has described the hero as the "ultimate vampire fantasy." Below is a more thorough look at his Hero kit: While Doctrine (real name Tamuka Yeukai) hails from Zimbabwe, he is accompanied by the Escort map Watchpoint: Grimsvotn, which depicts the Icelandic prison he is seen escaping in his debut cinematic.

Wolverine review roundup: Frankly, we're starting to feel a little better about the whole 'PlayStation 5 exclusive' thing The new Wolverine game is fine, but it's definitely not the best there is at what it does. "Missing that crucial X-factor" GamesRadar: 3/5 GR's Leon Hurley says Wolverine's mid-game feels like the game Insomniac wanted to make: "It's lively, layered, and just a fun place to be." Alas, "the rest of the game feels thin, and largely consists of boxy corridors that top and tail Tokyo with shallow combat luges broken up by cutscene checkpoints and little else." "Good character work props up flashy combat that wears thin over time" IGN: 6/10 Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team. "A gripping, emotional bloodbath" DualShockers: 8.5/10 Christian Bognar provided one of the more upbeat takes on Wolverine for DualShockers, writing that Insomniac's portrayal of the character is "a success," thanks to its "deeply personal story that explores what it means to live with trauma, loss, and regret." Christian also felt the combat in Wolverine was a step up from that of Insomniac's previous Spider-Man game, despite lacking Spidey's "freedom and versatility." "Relentless momentum" GameInformer: 8.5/10 GI's Matt Miller is clearly a fan, writing that "the high speed, brutal slashing, and unstoppable force of Wolverine are captured better than any film or game to come before." And where many other reviews found the game wore thin before its conclusion, calling it "an intense and unrelenting ride" that "doesn't wear out its welcome." "Marvel's Wolverine's claw-fueled combat doesn't feel as deep as its systems suggest, but that didn't stop me from grinning ear to ear carving through its lengthy campaign" TechRadar: 4/5 Writing for TechRadar, review Matt Cabral said Wolverine's fighting mechanics "suffer from a lack of meaningful depth," but praised the game's production values: "Supported by visceral, varied, and extremely violent melee combat, this set-piece-packed, cinema-rivaling spectacle puts you behind the claws – and mutton chops – of the fan-favorite superhero like never before." "Only aims as high as its stout hero" GameSpot: 6/10 Tamoor Hussain declared in his take for GameSpot that Wolverine is "a fun but forgettable experience that’ll entertain you for a few hours." But it also demonstrates the limitations of the character himself, especially when compared to the open world and energetic dynamism of the studio's previous Spider-Man games: "Wolverine might be the best at what he does, but what he does hasn’t let Insomniac’s developers be the best at what they do." "Uninspired gameplay leaves Logan feeling declawed despite a strong narrative: VGC: 3/5 Like many other reviewers, VGC's Jordan Middler enjoyed Wolverine's characters and story, but found everything the game's "tightly crafted and emotive story moments" to be lacking. Turns out, it often doesn’t." And a few unscored reviews, just for fun: The Verge says "Wolverine’s bloodthirsty focus on action is something that makes it stand out," Kotaku called it "refreshing in its straightforward focus" but also "stagnant," and Polygon pulled no punches, calling Wolverine "the biggest disappointment of the PS5 era." 2026 games: All the upcoming games Best PC games: Our all-time favorites Free PC games: Freebie fest Best FPS games: Finest gunplay Best RPGs: Grand adventures Best co-op games: Better together Andy has been gaming on PCs from the very beginning, starting as a youngster with text adventures and primitive action games on a cassette-based TRS80.
