"What's the harm in asking?" – Dlala Studios on taking a big swing to get comedy legend Bob Mortimer for the upcoming game Murals "Honestly, the Bob Mortimer you see on television, he's even a hundred times nicer and funnier than that in person" The name Bob Mortimer might not mean much to those who haven't lived in the UK, but he's a huge deal in the world of British comedy. He's one of the country's top comedians, having starred in the double act Reeves and Mortimer, and he recently won the UK version of Amazon's Last One Laughing game show. He's also – as revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 – a voice performer in the upcoming game Murals from developer Dlala Studios. Mortimer's involvement began when company founder Aj Grand-Scrutton and lead writer Kelsy Abbott wrote a character that was a "rip-off" of the comedian.
Ever since Fortnite started publicly posting player numbers back in 2023, the doomsayers have come out in full force any time there's a decline in concurrent or average player numbers. We're in exactly one of those situations right now, as player counts for the game's main mode, Battle Royale, have fallen significantly since Chapter 7 Season 4 started on August 14. After the summer season saw a big bump in engagement, thanks to some combination of the sprite-focused gameplay and the nearly entirely new map that Epic dropped at the start of Season 3, player counts have been heading back towards the sort of numbers we saw in Season 1 and 2. According to fortnite.gg, which collates players numbers from the Fortnite API , the average number of players in BR is down 37% in September from August so far.

Treasure horde Key info Developer: Playground Games Publisher: Xbox Game Studios Platform(s): PC, PS5, Xbox Series X Release date: February 23, 2027 "While there will be a way to optimize every business, one of the best ways to optimize a business is to identify whether an employee is actually working hard enough to increase the amount the business earns, and if not, fire them and just keep trying new employees to find one whose trait fits the business.
Iconic Banjo-Kazooie composer is more hopeful about a sequel these days, but knows "like three companies" have already been turned down Cauldron a stir. Grant Kirkhope - the iconic video game composer behind the Donkey Kong Rap and the Banjo-Kazooie games - thinks a potential Banjo-Threeie is slightly more likely now. Almost three decades have passed since Banjo-Kazooie's last mainline platformer flapped onto the N64 and it's been almost 20 years since Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts flopped onto the Xbox 360, but it's never too late for another adventure with the bird and bear. Speaking to FRVR, Kirkhope explained that he used to feel there was "zero chance of another Banjo-Kazooie game." Nowadays, that sentiment's been upgraded to a "slight chance" because he thinks Rare's updated leadership could be more receptive to an outside developer spearheading a threequel.
Banjo-Kazooie composer Grant Kirkhope says he'd still love to work on the series, but pitches for its return have been turned down over the years. Banjo-Kazooie is probably the game series with the biggest being dead to huge fanbase ratio (that or Mother). It's coming up on two decades since Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, which divided fans for not being a platformer despite being a great game in its own right. So, for most, it's been closer to 25 years since the last Banjo-Kazooie game, and despite appearances in Super Smash Bros.
Fable director says they aren't 'scared of other big games' except one—it's GTA 6, in case you were living under a rock "There's just one that I'm happy to avoid entirely." Watching videogame studios try and bob and weave around Grand Theft Auto 6's launch—especially when it was up in the air when exactly it'd come out—is a little like watching a flock of Marios (is that the correct plural noun? A mama mia of Marios?) all trying to dodge the same whomp. As was the case with the new Fable game, which got punted over into 2027 to avoid debuting among an absolutely rammed lineup. This summer's been a touch dry on big new releases, but in the wider videogame industry you've got Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Blood of Dawnwalker, two Star Wars games, Marvel's Wolverine, Control Resonant, Gears of War: E-Day, and Phantom Blade Zero all before the year's even out.
Rockstar Games' first official extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6 featured a lot of licensed music, and we've got the list of every song it featured right here. The highlights of Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 Chinese and Korean studios made their presence felt, but The Witcher 3 stole the show GamesIndustry.biz was at Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday night, the eighth instalment of the digital showcase. The hall was packed, without an empty seat in sight, and there were plenty of gaming celebrities in attendance: Xbox head Asha Sharma could be seen near the front, gamely forming an 'X' with her arms as the camera panned over her. It was a sign of things to come, with a strong presence from Chinese and Korean companies in this year's Opening Night Live, which included titles like Cinder City and Like or Die from NC, PUBG: Ded.Net from Krafton, Ananta and Sea of Remnants from Netease, Zoopunk from Ti Games, and Tides of Annihilation from the Chengdu-based Eclipse Glow Games, not to mention another Hoyoverse title in the form of the life-simulation game Petit Planet. Among the indie standouts were Lofsöng from Unrelated Studio, Dust: Origins from Airship Syndicate, and Daniel Mullins' wild-looking Pony Island 2: Panda Circus, which is coming on April 27, 2027.

PS2 console vs emulation Original PS2 console Easily play physical games Standardised performance Hardware compatibility Native controller support Natural, unaltered 480i visuals Requires adapters/upscalers for modern screens Emulation Play at higher resolutions Let's you play on handhelds Perks like save states, fast-forwarding, and texture packs Controller mapping for USB pads Saves you from messing with discs Susceptible to bugs, glitches, and performance caveats Don't worry, I'm going to delve into the ins and outs of using original PS2 hardware and DIY solutions. These days, you're looking at around $100 for an original "fat" model or up to $120 for the slim model, typically with a controller and the cords, on eBay in the US, while the UK site has listings for under £30. Therefore, I would advise spending a little more on something like a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or beefier, like the Retroid Pocket 5 or Mangmi Pocket Max, as you'll then have room to play with x2 or x3 scaling.

After over four decades in video games, developer Warren Specter is retiring from the industry. But as Specter moves towards the door, he wants to make sure that the team behind his 2010 game Epic Mickey gets their due for bringing one of Walt Disney's earliest creations back home to Disney. In 2003, the development document for Epic Mickey reportedly spurred then-Disney president Bob Iger to eventually regain the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a breakout animated character created by Disney and animator Ub Iwerks. "Call me small-minded but that ain’t right." Specter elaborated that the game marked Oswald's first Disney role since 1928, and added that the game's sequel, Epic Mickey: The Power of Two , gave Oswald a voice for the first time in a Disney story and fleshed out his love interest, Ortensia.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint, a Morrowind-inspired RPG weirdfest out this week in early access, has immediately seduced me with dialogue camera hijinks I want everything to do with this, madman I've woken up on a beach. I'm staring up into the nostrils of a bald man whose face looks to be made of wet clay. He's saying vaguely threatening things about a tower and my race and an island and the fact I'm far from home. The dialogue camera of The Lantern of the Laughless Saint clearly picks up on how unnerved this introduction to its adventure has made me.
Trainwatch is a life sim, a horror game, and a time management experience rolled up into a haunting story about the eerie places you see from a speeding carriage Twilight express Recently, RPS has seen a mighty renaissance of train game reporting. Look to east, and you will find James doing locomotive kickflips in Denshattack, a J-pop stunt racer turbocharged by the hope of a better world. Look to west, and you'll witness Julian bopping bandit Pullmen in Fogpiercer, or chuffing gaily between the plumpest asteroids in Profits 2167. I think of James and his funky ramen express as I cradle a microwaved lasange in the canteen, trying to muster the self-esteem necessary to push the button upstairs that will stop any rogue pedestrians getting demolished by the 11.11pm from Richmond.
As Disney looks to revive Oswald the Lucky Rabbit for an upcoming Disney Plus series, Epic Mickey director Warren Spector commented on the game's role in bringing the character back. At the latest D23 event – amid all of the Marvel and Star Wars announcements and Kingdom Hearts 4 news – Jon Favreau introduced a first look at his upcoming Disney Plus animation and live action series Oswald. This features Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who was created by Walt Disney before Mickey Mouse. Call me small-minded but that ain’t right." Spector explains that with Epic Mickey, "the team at Junction Point featured Oswald in his first Disney role since 1928," adding that 2012's Epic Mickey 2 "was the first time he ever spoke in a Disney story." He also notes that "we gave Ortensia her name, her voice, her personality and her role as Oswald’s paramour.
Disney has outlined just how powerful and important video games are to the company's future. In a blog post ahead of D23-- where Kingdom Hearts news is expected --the company's gaming boss, Sean Shoptaw, revealed that games are now a "fundamental part of the broader entertainment landscape." He said Disney has reaped the rewards, with nine of its gaming franchises grossing more than $1 billion at retail so far. Disney Games has reached about $3.5 billion in consumer spend annually for the past four years, exceeding $4 billion in the past fiscal year alone. Disney has invested more than $1.5 billion into Epic Games, and Shoptaw said its partnership is a "really important one." “Our partnership with Epic is a really important one,” Shoptaw said.
EA and Battlefield Studios have released a new trailer for Battlefield 6 that shows off the upcoming fan-favorite map Wake Island , which arrives on August 18 alongside a Top Gun-themed crossover event. Wake Island, which first appeared in Battlefield 1942, is inspired by the real-life Wake Atoll in the Pacific ocean where a World War II battle took place, and it's among the most beloved Battlefield maps ever. The newest version of the map for Battlefield 6 looks pretty incredible, at least based on the newly released gameplay footage. The new update for Battlefield 6 coming on August 18 also adds the F/A-81F Super Spectre and F-74A Seacat two-seat jets, bringing back a feature not seen since Battlefield 2 some 21 years ago .

For the most part, you won't notice anything out of sorts, but after sharing a quick photo of my old PS2 memory card screen running through the upscaler, I received comments asking, "What's with the Final Fantasy "9" save icon?" This quirk aside, the GBS-C is a solid PS2 upscaler Yes, it's guilty of doing weird things with this specific PS2 save icon, but the GBS-C will serve up great 1080p visuals that won't flicker for $89.90, which is far less than other options out there with motion-adaptive de-interlacing.
